  1. Might the same sensation come from nicks in the fluorocarbon line?
  2. I need help with a heavy duty license plate bracket or some other way of mounting my boat trailer license plate. A very nice policeman pulled me over early Sunday morning and pointed out I had no plate on the trailer. The bracket I bought at Academy had failed at the joint. It was sandwiched between the trailer and drivers side tail light. It hangs down in the wind and water behind the tire and I bet it just flexed and flexed until it broke. Anyone have a better solution? I don't really want to relocate the tail lights but I will if necessary. Thanks in advance.
  3. You should have someone film this. Please...?
  4. The Pfueger 20 size is on the smaller size. More like a Shimano 1000. I use it for my Ned Rig rod. Check the specs for max drag and how much line it takes up per turn of the handle (Inches per Turn or IPT) to see if it will suit you.
  5. Minnow, I have a 15' fiberglass boat from the '80's and I have a 55lb on my bow. It's worked great for me. You'll be able to move about and fish no problem. I don't think you'll be able to burn down the bank all day on high if that's the way you fish but anything else will be fine.
  6. @Siebert Outdoors What jig style would you recommend for a rocky reservoir with some heavy brush. And what weight for shallow (10' or less) and deep (30')?
  7. I'm no help with smallies but describe the lake (water clarity, depth, structure, points etc...) in some detail to help refine responses.
  8. I suspect: 1. When members use the search function it searches all posts for information. 2. Information from Bass Resource comes up in web searches. It is how I found the site and became a member.
  9. In muddy water Bass only feel safe if they have their nose basically touching cover. Logs or dock poles are obvious places to start. Pitch a jig as close as you can to the target. Multiple pitches to each target. You basically have to hit them on the head and they will bite out of pure reaction more than anything. Pay attention to where your bait is when it gets bit. Outside of dock poles in ten feet of water etc... Maybe you can start to put together a pattern and start skipping unproductive areas. Good luck. Let us know.
  10. Darren... this is for you...
  11. I would think there are more micro guides because they are lower to the rod blank and more are needed to keep the line off the blank.
  12. Cancer has touched my life like a hammer. Short term: Find a way to get some good westerns. Research a few and figure out how you two can watch them. DVD player in the room? IPad? Second it sounds like he has a great sense of humor. Keep that going and encourage it. He sounds like a great wing man. Someone on the inside....heh. Talk about the gun. Maybe get it later. Focus on today and what you can do for him and with him.
  13. Replace the fuel line or check that clamps are tight from the tank to the engine. I've had it happen several times just as you describe. I had an air leak at anything above idle so instead of sucking fuel it was sucking air into the engine.
  14. You are going to laugh out loud. Spin it around so the other side is facing you. In other words if the motor is on your right put it on your left.
  15. Buy your favorite brand of casting reel used on the big auction site. 1) You will get a better reel for less money. 2) If you don't like it you can sell it for what you paid for it... assuming you do some research and pay an average price. 3) You don't have to worry about that first scratch...
  16. I've seen slicks like that made by Trout and Redfish. Presumably by fish oil in their stomachs as they inhale another baitfish or shrimp.
  17. Set the hook.
  18. This is the current President selection
  19. A Pflueger 2500 size is generally their smallest reel. Designed for 4 and 6 lb line. It doesn't equate to a 2500 size Shimano spinning reel.
  20. Neil, Thank you for responding. Thank you everyone for responding. Please don't feel funny for writing back. I trusted this great group of guys and gals to lay my struggles out in the open in the first place. What strikes me is that some of the advice is at totally opposite ends of the spectrum. They are both right. I'm sure it depends on the situation and a million different factors. But I think it show's how much we don't know about the science of addition in this country. I would do absolutely anything for my son. I've taken it to the nth degree... I could quit my job, sell everything I own and move to Alaska with him. Our daily struggles would be taken up with survival. But right now he would chew tree bark behind my back to get high. And we'd be in the same place we are now.
  21. Palomar or Hangman's?
  22. No offense intended, but that is so easy to say when it is not your child.
  23. Be aware that Costa's come in different frame sizes. Medium, Large and Extra Large I believe. Find a pair that fits you in a store and look up what size they are.
  24. Big Mike, His name is Garrett. I have faith and I believe in the power of prayer. I learned a little prayer many years ago as I am no stranger to tragedy. "Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief." While I believe it is in God's hands and He will take care of everything I am so afraid His answers won't be what I want or need. I don't understand why he allows me, a believer, to suffer so much. Garrett's mother, my high school sweetheart, died of cancer *** years ago. Garrett was five at the time. We were married for *** years and dated for five before that. She was 33 years old. She made me promise to take care of him and I promised I would. I have failed.
