  1. Romo has broken two bones in his last three plays. He needs to bow out gracefully as a millionaire who can still walk. The next hit could cripple him for life. He should transition to the quarterbacks coach. I'm sure his advice has helped Dak and I'm sure it's one of the reasons Dak has done so well.
  2. Ok. Now I'm worried.... I have an 80's Mercury on an 80's fiberglass boat. It has power tilt and trim. I've been using a transom saver. The one with the rod between the trailer and motor. Is there a more modern product that will fit? Should I stop using it all together? Yikes...
  3. It happens to me. I just keep fishing it after nose hooking the bait. It actually gives it more action. Bass don't care. It just looks like a worm with a skinny neck and big head. I'll loose it eventually anyway...
  4. This one looks good!
  5. I too started upgrading rods after everything else. Someone on this site pointed out the error of my ways. If you fish bottom bouncing baits especially Texas rigged worms or craws then a sensitive rod actually can help you catch more fish. Sometimes fish pick up and spit out a bait in the span of a second. A sensitive rod helps you detect the strike much easier. You might not believe how many fish you were missing. Just my two cents.
  6. Thank you very much. Very interesting....
  7. Great post. I'm curious how you age bass. Could you explain?
  8. Sorry.... I don't own an HMX... just pointing out a good deal.
  9. I received my order. It took a bit longer than they say but I don't think it is their fault. It is coming from China. I got the unpainted worm weights and what I really love about them is the weight is "molded" into each weight. Some of it is pretty light and if the weights were painted it would probably be unreadable. Just FYI...
  10. Aren't clowns just Zombies in disguise...?
  11. Does anyone else prefer the older Shimano VBS braking system to the newer SVS Infinity system?
  12. I ordered some 20 days ago... and counting....
  13. At first glance this casting with the wind idea sounds good... but.... from what I understand the bass will face into the wind (read current in their face) as this is where the bait fish will come from... down current. I just tie on a heavier lure that will cut the wind like a rattle trap. I've been trying to find the windiest bank lately and fish paralell to the bank most of the time trying to picture how the bass would be positioned. Wind=Current=Active feeding fish=Moving bait.
  14. Another thread on this topic on this site helped me a bunch. When does the back lash occur? Beginning? Middle? or End? Beginning= Increase spool tension at knob. Middle= use your thumb very lightly as you feel the backlash starting to happen. End= increase brakes. Experiment from there. I find adding Shimano centrifugal brakes (VBS or SVS) helps at the beginning also. I do not cast well with magnet based systems so I do not have any.
  15. Assuming this is not a tiller but a throttle by the steering wheel. Look for a button (mine is square and is on the side of the handle where it pivots up and back). If you push the button and hold it you can move the throttle without having it in gear to increase gas to your motor. You can move it forward or backward it doesn't matter. Move it just a little bit and not full throttle. As the motor warms up you can move the throttle back to neutral and then engage gears forward or reverse.
  16. Never spill your whisky on a hot engine....
  17. I enjoy reading these very much. Can't you go more often... ? lol.
  18. I caught a hundred or so fish (before I lost it to a fish) on the Rainbow Trout Plopper as it was the only 90 color in stock at BP. I fish Texas reservoirs... we don't have Rainbow Trout in Texan reservoirs. The fish I caught have never and will never see a live Rainbow Trout. Come to think about it... they have never seen a Munky Butt or Yoda either...lol
  19. One phrase. "He now sleeps with the fishes..."
  20. Maybe someday we will be blessed with reversible handled bait casters... just like the spinning reels....
  21. Sometimes the fish just doesn't get the jig head and hook in their mouth and you play them with the worm for a bit until they decide to let go. Each fish you catch or don't catch adds to your greater knowledge. Keep at it. One question though... Why do you debarb the hooks?
  22. The Pflueger Supreme 25 size is their smallest and not the same as other manufacturers 2500 size. Double check sizing with the line rating of the reel and compare different reels that way.
