Is a silver blade a specific brand name lure, or are you talking about a generic spoon type lure?

Hello badhat. I just joined the forum and finished my hello post about 10 minutes ago. My story is almost a carbon copy of yours. Recently retired and I had to scratch the itch to get back into fishing. I am looking forward to being able to fish during the week and avoid the crowds. Getting older does have a few benefits.

Starting this time of year and through the fall the lake I fish on has huge schools of minnows, probably this years hatch of shad. The bass really bust into them, but they can be hard to catch. I think there are so many minnows that they have little reason to pay much attention to my offerings. Do you guys have any lures/techniques that you find to be particularly useful in this type situation? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Hello guys and gals. I'm from Tennessee and just joined the forum. I bass fished for many years in my younger days. Had the big bass boat and all the gear. Family and work caused me to quit for awhile. I recently retired and am in the process of starting over. This time I am going to simplify the process. I bought a kayak and have fallen in love with kayak fishing. When I said simplify, I meant really simple. One thing about kayak fishing, it really slows you down, and I think for me that is a good thing. Also, I am now more into the process and less into the catching. If I catch a few, great. If I skunk out, no problem. There's always tomorrow. A lot has changed since I fished regularly. I wanted to be a member here so I can ask questions when need be. Anyway, hello and good luck!
