  1. I have plenty of time to fish, and I worked 30 hours last week. I'm working seventeen hours this week and I'm going on a 4-day trip to New Hampshire for smallmouth and trout! Is four days no time? Lol
  2. what a deal!
  3. go with braid and a fluoro leader. Make sure the braid is light, maybe 20 pound.
  4. great vid, Glenn! Nice fish too!
  5. also a dozen shiners goes for about 7 bucks at my local shop. You'll have to spend at least that much every time you wanna fish. Getting some plastics and learning how to use them will be more cost-effective in the long run and will also help you learn more about what your local bass feed on.
  6. nice hat
  7. probably normal. what type of gears do you have?
  8. Zoom trick worms look very nice in the water. since you're just starting out, there's no need to get all wrapped up in all the soft plastics out there. just get a bag of senkos, a bag of creatures/craws, and a bag of flukes and get out and fish! See what works for you and build off of it!
  9. I got that sebile. cool looking lure. just need to catch a fish with it now!
  10. Ugly Stiks are made not to break, and that's about it. The gx2 has no sensitivity and is very heavy/bulky. The elite that they cam out with is a lot better than the gx2, as it has a lot more graphite in the blank. Being made of fiberglass, ugly stiks are just heavy and not sensitive. After using higher-quality rods, it is difficult to use one.
  11. NICE!
  12. small spoons, inline spinner (mostly panther martin), trout magnets (1/64 oz jig heads), floating salmon eggs off the bottom. All this techniques have caught me rainbows and brookies, hopefully browns when I go up to New Hampshire in a couple days. I would recommend all of these on spinning gear. Besides the salmon eggs, which are more for ponds, all of these can be used in rivers or ponds/lakes.
  13. I don't own a black or silver max, but from playing with them in-store i've noticed the gears on the silver feel a lot smoother than on the black. I could be wrong, but that's what I noticed.
  14. check out the buy/sell section of forums, by the way. You can get better quality gear at a price that'll fit you a lot better.
  15. "Help! My power poles have fallen and they can't get up!"
  16. Unfortunately that budget may hold you to using spinning gear. The other issue is that you will also have to make room for buying baits. If you don't have one already, I would recommend getting a part-time job. You're old enough if you're in high school. Ask for an application at any local business in your town. Working after school/on weekends will help you rack up money quick. For now you may want to get one solid combo, a medium-sized line, and a small variety of baits.
  17. your high school has a bass club? Luckeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
  18. I had a feeling Glenn would respond to this one...
  19. I'm glad this forum got started, I was planning on getting a 60 gal next year and doing the same thing. Any tips on successfully adding native plant to the tank?
  20. just try it without the leader for a couple casts and see what happens
  21. bag that came with my BASS membership and a plano. works great
  22. bleach the hell out of it then rinse with a hose and soak in water. repeat as needed.
  23. welcome!
