  1. Well guys, I havent posted in awhile. Been a busy winter but put this video together showing some highlights I had on camera for 2016. Ive put up a few videos using bizzbaits throughout the year but this video is pretty awesome. Hope you guys like it and Im hoping to get back to being more active on this forum.
  2. I might have a big plastic bag of these.... Looks good to me. Can't way to try them out!
  3. So I have about 5 champions and 2 savvys and a few Powell max 3ds (and other cheaper rods). My question is besides brand loyalty why would you pick the savvy over the max 3d? I've found the max 3d to be a lot more sensitive. The only reason I have the savvys I do is for frog rods. They have a very soft tip which I like for frogs!
  4. The resorts can use live bait if it is part of a survey, they need to document every fish they catch. They put the way around it in there to allow charters to take people out or like you said a minnow over 8"
  5. Too bad the resorts can still keep 4 smallies a person and CAN use live bait. I understand the resorts need a way to stay in business but after some of the pictures of 30 smallies hanging on a board all around 5 pounds last year made me loose a ton of respect for them. Also how the DNR worded it ticked me off.
  6. Got it guys! Thanks for all the help! The AR clutch, or bearing, slid back into the reel. Just had to push it back up into place and all three reels are good as new.
  7. Thanks for the pm DVT and response Hootie. Im going to try taking it apart and looking around the bearings and AR clutch
  8. So I have about 15 lews baitcaster (anything from the speed spool to the tournry pro) this year I just got them out to get ready for the fishing season and three of them had issues. Two speed spool lfs, and a tournament mb. When I go to reel in it turns very hard. I always back the drag off when not in use. I took them apart and they all look good, I noticed when I take the side plate off (the side with the crank and drag) the post where the handle goes spins fine. which leads me to think its the bearings for the anti reverse, but when it is all put together, the more I turn up the drag the smoother it is. Any clues what this could be?? Sorry I jumped all over in this post but its got me confused!!!
  9. you are saying slide in through the gill plate on the outside of all the gills but it still comes in contact with the outer gill. Ive done that a few times and a lot of times the fish are find but Ive had times where they start going belly up so I have to let them go so they don't die. Remember everytime you set the hook, youre putting a hole in the fishes mouth
  10. I always poke a hole in the bottom jaw. its such a small hole, much like youd give them setting a hook into them.... I don't like putting things around there gills. The gills are the most sensitive and important part of the fish. I don't like when I have five fish freaking out in a small space with things going in there gill plate. just my 2 cents
  11. The lake can be very intimidating and I remember when I started fishing it for smallies I had all the same questions and concerns. Yes the rocks on the east and south side of the lake are great spots to find them. depth can very from day to day and from their seasonal patterns so there really isn't a target depth, some days in could be 4-6ft some days 20ft or somewhere in between. Some days it even changes throughout the day! with the wind deal, you should be able to find amazing smallie spots very close to public access. find a rock pile and fish it, if nothing move to the next, if you do get one figure out why you caught him, why was he there, what was he on, then go try to replicate it in other areas, any craw imitation works good, jerkbaits, dropshots, typical smallmouth baits.
  12. Yes it is and im pumped to go to that and the river rumble on the Mississippi! I try to get up to mille lacs around ten times a year, last year was nice without walleye anglers everywhere. normally kill the smallies out there! lots and lots of fish in the 19-21" range and generally you can get a ton of numbers of them as well. later in the season last year I noticed that I was getting more numbers but had to sort through them to get the 20" fish. In the spring time they are super easy to find and so aggressive and packed up. After all it was the tenth best bass lake in the country last year.
  13. Buy the beat you can happily justify. I was like a lot of guys and buy $100 rods. I made the mistake of buying one nice $200 ROF and it was so much nicer I never wanted to put it down. Now all I own are 3d Max's and dobyns champion. Warranty is a big plus!
  14. .... A punch skirt. Nothing is nearly as weedless as a punch skirt with some sort of creature bait on it and a pegged tungsten weight.
  15. I know this is the wrong spot to say this but if anybody's lookin to start their own I got part of my collection I'm selling. 75 various jigs (brands, head, color) packed into a bass mafia deep box. Pm if you're interested. As far as my collection goes I just started pouring my own so I'm revamping it. I should have it together in a month or so which in MN bass doesn't open till May anyways:(
