  1. Me too man idk what it is but I haven't caught a single bass on one of these.
  2. The best part about the ned rig is you dont have to "entice" the fish literally the less you do the better. Im new to using it this year and ive caught hundreds of fish on this thing by far my most productive retrieve is let it sink, reel twice, wait, repeat. its so simple its almost hilarious. use bright line and pay attention so you dont end up gut-hooking every fish other than that its pretty hard to screw it up. Also it will skip like halfway across a lake so lately ive been using it a lot to skip up under over hanging trees or docks and its worked surprisingly well for me.
  3. Im having a little trouble picturing this but when i need something like a buzzbait but weedless I use rage tail shads, You can buzz them topwater, pull them over logs and then let em fall into gaps in cover. I absolutely love these things but dont see many people using them.
  4. 40lb braid on your fenwick use it for frogs, T-rigged stuff, jigs, 10 or 12 lb mono on the shimano baitcaster you can use this as your crankbait, topwater, spinnerbait rod, 15 lb braid on your spinning rod with a flouro leader, you can use this for any finesse techniques dropshot, weightless senkos. I started with the same rods except I had a medium for cranking and it worked well enough for me. If you have end up getting the higher speed reel use it on the braid rod. Good Luck.
  5. I second this. Get something weedless and cast it on shore if possible and gently drag it into the water, if they spook from that you just arent gonna catch em'.
  6. This is a fun topic to talk about because everyone loves new gear and all that. My rods and reels are probably worth more than the boat they are strapped to. Ive got combos worth 400+ dollars and last weekend I caught the biggest smallmouth of my life on a quantum 1310 and one of those free gander mountain rods. My bro laughed at me when I pulled it out but that thing casts a mile and the rod walks a spook like its on autopilot. New gear and everything is fun but when it comes down to if you really had to you could probably do 90% of your fishing with an walmart special spinning rod combo.
  7. I end up fishing alone 99% of the time. Ive offered to take just about everyone I know but it seems like they just like to talk about being "fishermen" when they find out im not just heading out to watch a bobber for a couple hours while getting wasted they dont wanna come with. Now when my brother comes to town its a different story, he was just up here for 3 days and it was sun up to sun down rain or shine power fishing...it was fantastic.
  8. It shows the bottom width and the beam under specs and layout on their website.
  9. Been reading these forums for awhile now using the advice here to buy most of my fishing equipment and most recently my first boat so thanks to everyone here. I got seriously into fishing maybe 5 years ago started shore fishing largemouth in the Madison area and have since moved further north and have discovered the packers are actually a religion and that I may be in smallmouth heaven. I'm extremely lucky to have a wife that tolerates me being out 2-3 times a week and theres a second seat in the boat thats always open. A big thanks to everyone on here I basically learned to fish using this site.
  10. You have your tournament yet? Im new to the area this year but Ive had excellent(3-5 keepers in a 4 hr day) luck catching smallies by finding cover near the steep dropoffs created by the original path of the river. mostly use tubes, a ned rig or T rigged craw or worm, best colors ive found are watermelon red flake or black and blue, as for Largemouth? dont ask because I have had 0 success catching any all year. Im going to assume that you guys were probably the group of like ten kayaks that were launching last Saturday though so I hope you had good luck.
