  1. If im fishing from my boat its always ready to go, plugged in, gassed up, got all my rods with my favorite lures already tied up. It takes me 15 min from getting home to my boat being started in the water. If in shore fishing I just grab my spinning rod, my plastics box and a zara spook and thats all I take with me. When I used to fish from a kayak it was way more difficult to have everything ready and I fished from shore alot more because I didnt want to deal with it.
  2. I use a st croix mojo "wacky" style spinning rod when im skipping light baits. Its worked well enough going on 6 or 7 years now.
  3. Im with poisonokie on this get 50lb power pro its way easier to get backlashes out and wont kink and ruin the whole spool, crank the brakes down, and start out slow dont go trying to bomb it on the first cast!!!! Start out at 50% and gradually increase your distance from there. Something that helped me was starting out with side casts because if youre used to a spinning reel your first overhand cast is getting spiked straight into the ground or water and as they have already said take out the length of a casts plus a few yards and put some electrical tape on your spool.
  4. St Croix rage rods have a love it or hate it grip make sure you hold one before you buy one.
  5. tie it on and reel down to the first guide and cut it, use it till its down to about 8 inches long then re-tie.
  6. Ive tried dicking around with every type of line out there it seems and wasted a lot of money doing it and ive basically come to the conclusion that if it isnt a crankbait or a few select topwater lures im using braid and a flouro leader its way easier to deal with, lasts forever, sensitive, and you get the abrasion resistance of flouro but you dont have to deal with wanting to throw your rod in the water while your line turns into a slinky.
  7. My lake is swamped with duck hunters. Its hard to fish because I dont want to be rude and blow up a hunters spot and also dont want to tick off someone with a gun.
  8. Super spook and super spook jr. Easiest bait to walk, its cheap, I know some replace the hooks ive never had a problem with them. Its been around for 80 years for a reason!
  9. Never heard of a jika rig either but ill definitely be trying it this weekend.
  10. I have one fishing rule and thats throwing a zara super spook or spook jr every time I fish. Id rather catch one on topwater than 5 on a senko. Theres just something awesome about watching a fish crush your lure. A few weeks ago I saw my bro hook a muskie on a top raider, I think my heart is still pounding.
  11. Yes, this guy is right on with rage shad. drag in on the slop like a frog and when you hit open water start reeling and you got yourself a soft buzzbait. The fish in my avatar was caught on one in a swamp hole exactly like this.
  12. Tiger muskies are easily the coolest looking freshwater fish. That thing is gorgeous.
  13. Haha yes, in order to play you have to start up the game then wait for 40 minutes while some dude in a pontoon backed directly in the center of two ramps puts his truck in park and has 17 kids go take a dump while he tries (unsuccessfully) to put the top up while his wife cleans up the contents of the cooler that spilled everywhere......
  14. Violent crime in this country has been dropping for 25 years, dont let the sensationalism of the 24 hr news stations fool you. Yes its terrible but giving these idiots attention is exactly why they are doing it.
  15. 16 games is fine the best part about football is the feeling that every game means something plus can bears fans really stomach watching Cutler for 2 more games??? They will be alright until late in the year when their defense brutally disappoints you as is now a longstanding packers tradition.
  16. All ive learned is preseason is a waste of Jordy's ACL and after looking over my FF roster repeatedly that my team is horrible and I have no chance.
  17. I think it was zoom that had the color mardi gras and im pretty sure it was in fact green, purple, and gold. Ahhhh the ol' waffle stomp....
  18. Exactly i feel like my top speed right now is just a little slow for a good cruise haha. My mind is basically made up at this point, I dont think the wife is quite there yet though......
  19. sierra trading post has a daiwa exceler 7 ft med/heavy combo for 80 bucks its easy to cast and will work fine, my bro's been using one I bought him all summer. I just bought a gander mt elite series spinning rod for 65 bucks on sale its a fantastic rod for that price. pick your favorite spinning reel in the 50 dollar range and your good to go with some extra money left over for tackle.
  20. There is 0 reasons not to use braid for this. Why dont you like braid? its gonna be 1000 times easier to deal with than 30 lb mono.
  21. I tried it earlier this year and after the first trip I put it on all my other rods that I use braid on. The biggest thing I didnt like with regular powerpro was the grinding feeling through the guides and this is 100% better. No wear issues for me, I use a flouro learder most of the time. Suffix is pretty smooth though I wouldnt switch unless your line is worn out.
  22. Man some of these are making me rethink my desire for a bigger, faster boat. 18 bucks to fill up, 50 hp honda, lasts 2 weeks (5-6 mornings on the water) is NOT fast.
  23. My musical coming of age came during the hey day of pop-punk so most of my teenage years were filled with Blink-182, New Found Glory, NOFX, MXPX and various other (abbreviation+random number) named bands.
  24. I don't have too many lures so most of my bass lures have caught fish. My muskie lures though.....are a different story.
  25. I use the shroomz jig heads and i have never once glued the worm on or ever had a problem with them coming off.
