i normally make sure my rivet on my buzzbait is completely flat maybe file them if they are painted
upgrade hooks on certain cranks
i also have a couple square bills that no longer have bills this one wasn't really by choice but i hit the inside of my boat while casting and it kind of shattered.
picked up a spro bbz rat 50 in brown as well as 2 4" spro bbz-1 shad in sexy lavender and wicked perch. looks like i'll be buying a swimbait rod and a new reel in the winter hopefully there are some sales around
i'm not really sure if i'd say it's a junk brand but I have never caught anything on any of their baits mind you I only have 2. I have some stick worms as well as an ikari shad that came in a mtb I like the look of the ikari shad but I have not had success on it or the.stick worms at all this year.
ok i know this is kind of off topic but do i really need a heavy power rod to throw big baits like the jackall gantarel? i have 2 med/hvy rods and i know they aren't rated for a lure that heavy but how much will it really affect it?
I have bought at both bps and wal-mart I prefer bps but I still find it annoying that they don't have an online stock system. Instead their site is an online store then when you go to store they don't have what you saw on the site that you wanted. I have recently been going to both sail as well as a shop on the way up to my cottage, I like their selection and price as well and why not support a local place if I need something really specific I will probably end up ordering them from tw
siebert got me for another 10 jigs last week. I didn't expect to be ordering more so soon but I lost one of my new bladed jigs to one of those toothy northerns, plus I needed some footballs and arkys anyway so why not i know they're good quality.
i have found that a slow steady retrieve is the best i occasionally pop the bait or rip it out of grass if it gets caught and that triggers bites.
as far as colours go i always try to imitate bait fish sierbert makes a bluegill and pumpkin seed bladed jig which i really like. i also use black and blue for darker or stained water it works well for me in the north.
the trailers are either sk rage craws, paddle tails or sk blade minnows and match the skirt
i would think anything in a bluegill, pumpkin seed or perch pattern should work pretty well. swim jigs, bladed swim jigs, crankbaits, lipless crankbaits and swimbaits in any of those patterns should get at least some reaction strikes once you find them slow down maybe throw a jig or a worm
that's my thoughts exactly why keep something and deplete the population for no reason. i'd much rather get a weight and a picture then send her on her way for someone else to catch. i feel it is up to us to teach people about catch and release as well as the safe handling of fish
also just found a very disturbing video on youtube that i have linked below (an angler kills a musky because it eats bass and walleye
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzdesfXfaTY
it kind of bugs me but it's more so the attitude about it. in my area a lot of people seem to think it's fun to kill bass or any fish just because. if you're eating them it's a different story but if it's just for entertainment then why do it? you can only kill them once but with catch and release you can catch them multiple times.
i need to fish other lakes instead of just the one i'm on, also looking to put a deck on my aluminum boat so i can at least feel like i have a bass boat and make fishing more comfortable.
other than that i need to go diving for a couple lures that have recently been lost
