i'm thinking the same thing now, my reasoning for changing it would be that my zillion is 5.5:1 and my tatula is 7.3:1 so if i can have an sv spool in a reel i use to skip jigs i think it could make life a little easier, where with casting crankbaits doesn't really require a light spool
so i just had a thought, i know in my zillion tws i have an sv spool and i also know that the frame is very similar if not the same as the old tatula frame. my thinking is that i can take the sv spool out of my zillion and put it into my tatula to make a tatula sv. my question is has anyone tried this to know if it will work or not?
depends really it's on more of a fish by fish basis if it's a frog or a t rig fish then yes but if its on something with trebles i try to play the fish
get bit custom baits takes care of all my custom work, phil is an amazing painter he has done a bull shad as well as my 2 newest which are 2 lunker punkers
I'm not sure if this will work for you but personally I store all my stuff in plastics totes like this.
My plastics are kept in original packaging and put into the blue Rubbermaid containers at the bottom I have never had an issue with elaztech melting or mis-shaping in 2 seasons of storing this way
this year was the first year i had a fury and i can without a doubt say i will be ordering more, they are amazing rods i have not used the 3d max though so i cannot help you there, i would read all the reviews on tackle warehouse as well
i would try to go to a local place or even bass pro if you have one around and hold it and compare it to a daiwa lexa 300 if you can just for something in more of a low profile type shape and see which one is more comfortable
everything looks fine the only things i can think of are
1) it might be hard to work a popper efficiently on a moderate action rod (personally i use a 6'6"mh/f)
2) walking a frog on a 7'9" seems like it would be a little difficult, but this is also dependent on your height.
water temp here is 35o and definitely not easy to access the deep parts from the bank but if you can do that and stand to fish slow enough you can get bit
because the tackle shop wants at least some return on their investment and also need room for new stock. st croix only sells one brand and has a warehouse so space isnt a problem
how do you guys keep logs? do you write it down right after you catch a fish? or do you keep them in mind and write them down when you get off the water?
im assuming you are referring to the striker plus units that were release not to long ago, it has nothing to do with frequency but rather added features like quick draw
you can buy casting stuff for finesse but it will likely cost you a lot more, the rod would probably end up being a gloomis rod (nrx comes to mind). you will also need to find a reel that can cast light weights probably an sv spool
i would assume they are sealed and filled with foam i would think it would be counter productive to remove them because they are already a completed deck and cutting through aluminum isn't going to be the easiest. My thinking would be to do a storage compartment as i have put in the picture below
depending on how deep the boat is you can create a larger deck and frame 2 plastic totes underneath and make doors to access them since it's 48" wide and a fairly flat bottom i would think its easy enough and it will give you more room to stand and store everything
