  1. I leave plastics on jigs for months and months and have never noticed any general rust issues, the little rusting I did get was always from leaving Zman plastics on cheap crappie jigheads. I do take great care to never put a jig away if it's even a little damp and use zrust tabs in all my tackle trays.
  2. Did the same thing with SK Shellcrackers a year or two ago. I use them as jig trailers almost exclusively, I have a literal lifetime supply I think.
  3. I drop shot on both a casting and spending combo and I use 7lb Sniper on spinning and 10lb Sniper on a casting reel. The 7 pound can’t survive even a minor backlash so I bumped up to 10.
  4. I’ve ordered directly from them a few times, they make stuff in limited numbers so they are out of stock fairly often.
  5. I have two, one that is 7’5” and one that is 6’3”. The main advantage to the longer one is line pick up, the short rod is make challenging to get good hooksets on.
  6. I gave away about 2-3 bankers boxes worth of stuff but likely bought twice as much new stuff in the years after. At this point the tackle mountain is big enough that I don't buy anything new unless it's a very good sale or by random luck winning an ebay auction I low-balled. I have accepted in my heart that tackle fetishism is a companion hobby to actually fishing and amuse myself trying to find the "perfect" plastic/lure/bit of tackle for a (at times highly specific) situation. This spring I am excited to for the "Fat Ika vs Cover Craw" and "Rage Menace vs Ultra Vibe Craw" competitions.
  7. I leave trailers on and have never noticed any rust. I do thoroughly dry my jigs before putting them back in the box and load my boxes up with rust tabs.
  8. I went a bit insane at the recent fishingskirts.com sale, should have enough 1/4oz jigs to last me a few seasons. I am working one three colors, a GP baitfish, a Blue/Black, and a GB/Amber. The GP Baitfish needs another half tab on top, the one pictured is just a proof of concept. No idea why everything is upside down.
  9. I see the no-hook keeper thing as a bonus, I think the Fuji keepers are superior to any factory one and being left handed means most factory ones are on the wrong side for me anyway.
  10. I buy a lot of my tackle in bulk/multiplies and I leave it in the original packaging until it’s time to load it into a plano to replace one of it’s lost siblings.
  11. At $350 the new Poison Adrenas are worth looking at, I have the 611M+ and it’s an amazing rod.
  12. The Steez SVTW on a FMJ does result in a tip-heavy combo, but it also ends up feeling super light in hand, so it depends on what your priorities are.
  13. Z-man made some swimbait hooks with double barbs like that. I found some on-sale but when I googled around I found way way too many pics of them jammed into thumb to ever think of using them.
  14. I don’t really see them as much different then a Rage Menace, other than the fatter body. I don’t think I punch enough to keep a dedicated plastic around for it.
  15. Might as well get the full outfit.
  16. Good info. I am a big fan of the 1012 and am using a pair of them in a Steez A. The one full of 40lb braid Has plenty of capacity, but I want to put 18lb Shooter on the other one But there’s nowhere nearly enough capacity. How does the deeper RCS1000 compare in performance to a 1012?
  17. A pile of potential jigs. Some actualized tungsten jigs for an annoyingly lead-free but productive lake near me.
  18. I more or less agree, but still think the weedless Ned has a place for wade fishing. In areas with faster current and/or a lot of wood in the water I prefer weedless for both less wasted time and leaving less litter in the water.
  19. Agreed 100%. I only resort to braid when I have tried and failed with other lines, it’s always my last choice.
  20. Hah, I’m the opposite, I have one of the new Tat SVs and I find it way more comfortable then the A/SVTW frames. I can’t put my finger on what the difference is but across 3-4 different reels seats the Tat was better for me. I’m pretty deep into the 34mm spool game but if the new Tat SV holds up and keeps casting as well as it does when new I don't think I will be looking much further for my GP reel needs.
  21. At least with the Daiwa reels, there is a very noticeable difference from reel to reel among ones with the same braking systems. It’s not really a better/worse thing though, it’s mostly a free/control difference based on the magnets and the spool components.
  22. It feels very balanced, but it’s a short rod with a lot of material past the lock nut, so I don’t know how the longer BL rods are. I have yet to get a bite on it yet, but it handles 1/2-3/4oz spinner/chatterbaits well and seemed plenty sensitive when I dragged a jig around with it. It’s amazing for walking a frog, I can get a Galvacho to more or less walk in place. It also seems to skip very well but I am not really messing with that too much in cold finger season.
  23. Hah, I got it from JDM Tackle Heaven. I was really pleased with them, shipped from Japan to the east coast in about a week and the rod was packed and labeled better then I have ever seen before.
  24. Does color matter for topwater lures? That is the question I hope to answer for myself with these. I had six Popmax clones painted up in these three basic colors and the plan is to swap out colors with every hit. My hope is that color does not matter so I can buy garish jdm colorways as they catch my eye instead of having to care about effectiveness.
  25. I wasn’t super interested in till I saw that video, if the tag ends can really be trimmed that close it seems like a much easier to tie FG alternative.
