  1. If you must use fluoro, go light. But my favorite is 12 lb Trilene XL mono for my spinning reel.
  2. If the motor is good, that is a fair price. If you know a mechanic, ask him to check that motor out for you. Even if he charges for his services it would be money well spent. Dont forget to check out the live wells too. I own a 95 Javelin 367 that has a color scheme almost identical to the one in your post. It has a 2000 Johnson 90 and it will do every bit of 50 although it gets frisky going that fast in rough water. Good luck
  3. Awesome
  4. TV at the gym was showing this the other day. We were all glued to it for a few minutes. I thought it was Travis Pastrana?
  5. Who got you started?
  6. I want to give you guys another update on the drought situation here in the western piedmont, just in case you're thinking about heading this way. Currently, most areas are in a Moderate drought, bordering on Severe drought conditions. Annual rain fall amounts are 6.5 - 7" below normal. Lake Wylie has closed boat ramps in Allison Creek and several at the Buster Boyd Bridge Acces. Most reservoirs are well below normal levels, underwater boating hazards are a major concern across the region.
  7. I dont know if this gonna be any help but I'll throw it out there anyway. I tend to like the Game and Fish magazines. NC Game and Fish in particular, due to the local aspect. They cover lakes, large and small, seasonal tactics, creel surveys and guide info....places close to home. You'll have to wade thru some seasonal hunting articles and salt water stuff too. But they seem to cover all the bases for the majority of sportsmen and they probably have a state specific mag for your neck of the woods too. I would like to leave you with my only negative feelings. Game and Fish aint what they used to be. What once was a nice thick magazine is now half the size. I know they have some online stuff but it isnt the same to me. I have archived copies from YEARS ago that I reference all the time.
  8. I started taking my kids fishing before they were old enough for school. My son took to it and was worm fishing like a champ by the time he was 7. Now he is 28 and we still love to hang 'em. I guess you gotta get them into it at an early age. But there are no guarantee's.
  9. What's your typical thermocline range? If you dont mind me asking.
  10. How about the guy who really likes to rub it in when he's killing you but wants to put it on the trailer when you're burning him up?
  11. This morning,I had one to barf up his breakfast just before he surfaced and threw the hook, along with the rest of his breakfast, right back at me.
  12. The bass have the ability to humble you like nothing else.
  13. ...not exactly "night fishing" but i did get there before 6 and was able to get a cool shot of the lunar one. I managed 3 largemouth and 2 spots. Took the wife too.
  14. What's happening Meatloaf?

  16. This old timer used to sit in the pew directly in front of us at church. He was bragging about his new hearing aid one Sunday morning. "It's the best one they make", he said. So I asked him, "What kind is it?" "It's almost 12 and I'm gettin' hungry!", he shot back.
  17. Sometimes you do need to step away, especially if you're feeling burnt out or that you're just going thru the motions.
  18. Good deal man. Now go out there and bring home the big bucks!
  19. LOLMy cucumbers and watermelons are deformed looking this summer! Watering helps some but nothing works like good old rain.
  20. Extreme heat + lack of rain has us here in the western piedmont of NC in the midst of a Moderate Drought. Stream Flows are suffering, Surface Water levels are falling across the region and Ground Water levels are falling as well. As of today we are over 5" behind in annual rainfall. Now that may not seem like much but it will take prolonged steady rains to restore the stream flow and surface water but much more to bring the ground water tables back up to normal. Several local municipalities have hit trigger points requiring water restrictions for their customers. At present lakes Norman (Catawba River) and High Rock Lake (Yadkin River) are nearly 4' below full pool.
  21. Preach on brother!
