  11. March thru May, and from 1' - 25' I'll take a Zoom Green Pumkin Lizzard, dip the tail, and then hang on.
  12. Badin is a very good bass fishery but gets real tough in the summer. Lots of deep, clear water for them to roam. If you're still around next spring, Badin is THE place to be in March and April. Also dont forget about Tillery, a few miles south of Badin. Tillery tends to be a little more stained with some grass and lots of docks. It's somewhat shallower than Badin. Either way, good luck. Badin has some tanks swimming around in there! Be sure to check local lake levels as the ongoing drought is taking it's toll.
  13. I have been marking some schools, suspended off shore, in the 20' range. Surface temps upper 80's. Imma go out on a limb here and guess they're feeding on bait schools, when they take a notion to. The few that I managed to catch were aggressive hitters, one spit up a 4" baitfish that looked like a blueback or possibly an alewife. My brushpiles are holding a few fish, but not like they were a few weeks ago. It has been brutally hot all summer with falling lake levels due to drought conditions. It is tough everywhere down south it seems.
  14. My all time favorite body of water is a small lake that is connected to a much larger lake via overflow culverts only and separated from it by an interstate highway. It is 10 minutes from the house and has some quality bass in it. It is primarily a structure lake with little in the way of docks or fallen timber. Deepest water in the 35-40' range with plenty of 15-25' zones. Red clay, rocks, stumps, drop offs, points, a mile long stretch of rip rap, and those sweet brush piles, are the main features. It used to have only largemouth but we are catching alot of spots these days. I have been fishing this lake for about 30 years. My pb came from there in the fall of '98 and weighed in at 8.6 lbs, a monster for my neck of the woods. If something ever happened where I could not fish that lake it would hurt me bad.
  15. Get well soon man. I think can speak for all of us (although I'm kinda new here) when I say we always enjoy your appreciation of fishing, as well as, your positive attitude.

  20. Good advice I am 57 and have had 3 "places" removed from my body in the last 10 years. My yearly physical this past spring revealed a pre-cancer that took two "cuttings" to fully remove from my upper back. Now it looks like I have a huge scar from a stab wound. I was lucky this time, but as I continue to age, more may develop. Early detection helps but there are no guarantee's regarding the effects of sun damage. When I came up you never heard of sun screen. I was tanned every summer. I was stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba for a year back in 79. I have practically lived on the water fishing. We have a pool and I work outdoors most of the time. I am no different than than hundreds of thousands of others who live in warm climates. Nowadays we know better. You younger guys can protect yourselves and your children. Please take the time to do just that.
  21. Pete, might I suggest you try some of the smaller city lakes in your area? Try researching Fishing North Carolina, written by Michael S. Marsh. You wont be disappointed.
  22. I dont mind fishing alone.
  23. Nice work man. Beautiful landscape too. Thanks for sharing.
  24. They're still out there. You may want to check and see if your TV cable provider offers the premium outdoor channels....usually costs extra. Right now the hunting shows are mostly being aired on the generic sportsman networks, for obvious reasons.
