  1. dang, thanks Guido for all you’ve given to the sport we all love. one of my all time favorites.
  2. that’s the right attitude brother because you’re just getting started. work, kids, and other responsibilities will come first as you grow older. fishing will always be there though, and if you hook up with the right gal, she will understand and let you have your time. you might have to wash some dishes and clean some toilets along the way but it’s all apart of learning how to play the game. git r done ?
  3. wow, just wow THANKS JOHNNY!!!! ?
  4. generally speaking, sea nymph makes a good boat, but two guys as big as y’all are may need to think about a little longer and alot wider model. stay safe out there. ?
  5. i live 10 minutes from the lake. years ago we had local tackle/bait stores but those days are gone. i can still drive 20 minutes to get minnows, crappie hooks, and bobbers but thats the extent of it. i could drive 45 minutes to BPS, or an hour thru Charlotte traffic to Cabelas in SC, to overpay for stuff that i can buy (in bulk) online at a much better price. nope. the local Walmart and Dicks offers some limited tackle. i buy from them on occasion. 90% online for me.
  6. i found out where my piriformis is ?
  7. i have one boat for the big lakes and a jon boat for the small ones. find a used johnny with a decent 9.9 tiller and trick it out the way you want it. not that expensive if you aint scared of a little work. ?
  8. told my wife, no more BPS gift cards for me after this year. i even waited til their current online sale to try to get my bulk hooks and plastics but they’re not offered at the sale price this year. i can get them at a better price elsewhere. i will spend my gift card on a pair of work boots this time around and then bid farewell to BPS from this point forward unless things change with them. ?
  9. ouch ?

  11. me and a friend took our grandsons down to MCRD at Parris Island, SC today. we left town at 4 am this morning and just got back home a little while ago. i hadn’t seen the place since i graduated from boot camp, almost 40 years ago. good times ?
  12. good luck brother. i hope everything works out for you.
  13. be patient grasshopper ☝️
  14. another good reason
  15. i cant resist ? here is mine, a gift from my son in law. i’ve been throwing the bling to it whenever i can find a cool sticker. i’ll put it in the Javelin every now and then but my built ins work just fine. better on the job or out by the pool....for my sweet tea.
  16. good call james. i do alot of fishing in a jon boat (at times) and some people either dont care, or are oblivious to the wake they’re creating. i have both styles of inflatable vests but prefer the auto. my personal choice is the one i am wearing in my pic, the Mustang MIT.
  17. it’s the squirrels man, if they’re eating....well, you know
  18. me and my cousin hit lake norman today, first time out this season. we weren’t expecting much, run the motor, work out some winter kinks, maybe get bit in the process. we found swt’s in the low 50’s and a little muddy. the sky was cloudy with steady breezes and warm. we started out fishing main lake points and it was the right call. 22 spots, all on t rigged zoom lizards dragged slowly in the 10’-15’ zone. easy pattern for anyone this time of year.
  19. booster beat me to it looks good blue!
  20. i thought about it but decided to save my gift card for the on-line sale that usually follows this one
  21. Tom is correct. alum is added to “raw water” at the first stage of drinking water treatment to remove turbidity, which also carries things like harmful bacteria and other organisms. the byproduct of alum treatment is alum sludge. ever had to floc out your cloudy swimming pool? then vacuum the stuff off the bottom via the drain cycle? you’re actually removing the alum sludge. the same thing occurs at a much larger scale at your local drinking water treatment facility and over time the alum sludge has to be physically removed because it builds up the same way snow accumulates on the ground. this phase is commonly conducted at the teatment facility, not in the lake. the floc (precipitate) also attaches itself to everything in the process, even fish and other aquatic life. i may be speaking without full knowledge of what is actually being done there but it seems kinda odd. but who knows, i have been retired now for over 7 years. please keep us informed James.
  22. i wonder what they plan on doing with the alum sludge that settles to the bottom of the lake?
