  2. i’d like to catch a 4+ spot
  3. i say stick with the big game line and keep working on your hook set. you may miss one every now and then but that’s fishing. at the very least you wont bend out your hooks like it appears the braid is doing.
  4. texas rigged worm
  5. great news brother! so happy for you!
  6. we always had a real tree, used to load up the kids and the dog, head to the tree farm and get a 12 footer, do all the trimmings. that was quite a few years ago, then last year the wife wanted to try one of those pre-lit trees. these things are great! 10 minutes to set it up and it’s surprisingly realistic. i rig the ornaments for her and she does the rest. no going back.
  7. the next couple months is good time to get that honey-do-list taken care of.....and maybe sink some brush piles ? we just got a foot of snow yesterday ☃️ thus signaling the beginning of my winter break
  8. fishing is my passion. if i’m not doing it, i’m thinking about it, reading about it, watching it on tv, tinkering with my gear or my boats, all the above. i love being on the water. i’ll fish alone or with someone, doesn’t matter. i’m that guy on the water when it’s raining, or when the winds blowing too hard, or the water is too muddy, too cold, too hot or too whatever. this doesn’t mean that i always catch them or that i’m any better than anybody else. i just love to fish. i love the challenge, the sporting element. i dont want to beat the other guy. i dont need to win anything. i dont want a tv camera to put me on the fish. just man vs fish, amidst all that God has given us to enjoy. simple as that.
  9. shoutout for the spider jig https://www.gitzitinc.com/main/index.php/shop/product/view/3/73
  10. i used to label mine but stopped a few years ago for some reason. now i dont know what the heck i have on a few of those reels. i always placed my labels on the curved underside of the reel mounting base before i attach it to the rod. tape and pens always worked for me. i have a P-Touch label maker that would also work i suppose.
  11. i still use the orange marker buoys
  12. keep fighting brother and keep us posted on your recovery ?
  13. i love craw worms
  14. i got alot of the back yard done Sunday afternoon (first pass anyway) about an acre i’d say, burnt some limbs, and started an oak leaf pile under the tree swing for the grandkids. i’ll burn those after everything comes down. but we’ve had over 2” of rain since with more to come. everything’s a soppy mess now and i’m just getting started. maybe it will dry out by this weekend, who knows. i want to go fishing sometime too!
  15. i feel like throwing all my tackle in the wood chipper brb
  16. jb, i have tons of leaves myself, plus my neighbor has several giant water oaks that shed into my yard as well. sometimes it looks like brown snowflakes and when the wind is from the NE they accumulate on my property quickly. i mulch/bag mostly with the tractor, burn the red oak, white oak and water oak leaves but compost the pecan, maple, wild cherry, and poplar, dumping them on my garden and turning them in with the soil for the winter. like i see in your pic, those big oak leaves bunch up between the front tires and mowing deck and i have to break down and go old school with the blower and rake. it’s always a chore but i look at it like a work out and feel blessed to still be able to do it myself.
  17. my boss always called that “job security” ☝️ 7.75!!!! now i’m ticked ?
  18. SEMPER FI
  19. i miss the guys, not the job. now, me and a friend work part time doing side jobs, hit the gym in the mornings, do alot of fishing. i love it. stress is way down now and the Lord has blessed me with relatively good health.
  20. picked up a Wright & McGill 7’ 4” jig/worm casting rod for $59 bucks at Dick’s on Saturday ?
