  1. get the thick stuff and make sure your sub floor is smooth.
  2. after that third fish i’d be offering cash for some of those minnows.
  3. i wanted to share this shot of what i saw on the Garmin this morning. a typical thermocline situation, except that the hypolimnion (bottom layer) now shows much more clutter than before. this lake is around 370 acres, located in the western piedmont of NC. it’s fed by a few small creeks. the lake is down at least two feet from normal pool and we are now in a Severe Drought. no measurable rain since the middle of August. swt’s have fallen off a good 8 degrees in the last week due to a cooler weather pattern. might this be an indication of some early mixing? we shall see. the fish are biting. i caught 10 or 11 spots this morning in cover around 10’ - 15’ deep.
  4. that spottie is a hoss senile. glad you are on the mend. git r done!
  5. ain’t nothing quite like them ?
  6. i’m an InvizX guy, but for the price you can’t beat Red Label.
  7. that’s friggin awesome!
  8. yes, primarily the Zoom 5” lizard in green pumpkin/chart, and sometimes june bug. late winter thru late fall, 5’ to 25’. spots LOVE them, but i’ve caught plenty of good largemouth on them too, and the fish don’t seem to care whether it’s spring or not. they just keep on hitting them.
  9. should have known better than to ask my son in law to hang this door for me while we were at the beach
  10. take it easy out there brother! ?
  11. my wife just shakes her head
  12. my 2 cents i’ve been using fc for about seven years now. hook set break offs can be an issue for some of us (myself included). pay special attention when tying your knots with fc line. there is some great advice on here. give it some consideration.
  13. put your seat cushion flotation device under your butt and carry on
  14. good times ?
  15. caught 22 this morning in the little johnny. it was sunny and HOT!, SW breeze around 10 mph. the spots were schooled up and biting. this 17” was the biggest spot. also caught a 20” largemouth but she was gill hooked so i got her back in asap. life is good!
  16. got on the water early this morning. never did seem to get the spots fired up but a few nice largemouth took their place. funny how that happens. swt’s remain in the 78-79 degree range, partly cloudy, NE breeze, but still quite warm for late September. had to anchor a few times, the lake is a little low as we’re now in a moderate drought. both of these bass came off brush in 12-15 fow.
  17. 10 mph, definitely. pushing 20, i’m gonna try to tuck in somewhere like catt said and fish a seam. i also like anchoring on a good “spot” like bankbeater said. i got a spot on road bed that really holds them when a stiff SW wind blows across it. i have other spots that hold fish when the NE wind blows. those are also good places to sink brush, if you’re into that. i will say that anchoring is a little more work and may not always be practical for everyone. but it can pay off once you get your mojo.
  18. maybe, could be the c tail. btw i love me some shakey tails!
  19. funny how that happens
  20. she’s beautiful
  21. this kinda stuff is why love this place and i think i’ll practice this method. i tied the palomar for years with mono with hardly any break offs on the hook set. but with fluoro, it drove me crazy, so i started tying the Shaw Grigsby knot about two years ago. it works but is kinda tricky to tie on a worm hook and with these old eyeballs. i can tie a palomar in my sleep. but i must now pay more attention to detail going forward. fingers crossed.
  22. same here
