  1. i sunk the last of the trees today, 12 in all, in small groups, at various locations. i could only fit one at a time on the little johnny but it was fun. i made every effort to place them at the thermocline sweet spot so they would still hold fish in the heat of summer. took some reference pics with the iphone too. that small orange thing is my marker buoy. i can’t wait.
  2. boil a spinnerbait just off the bank and hang on

  8. going to sink some trees next week ?
  9. i used to fish some local stuff with a friend of mine here on Lake Norman, mostly annual fund raiser tournaments, as well as, the night time derby’s on Monday and Friday in the summertime. recently i’ve done some wounded warrior tournaments with Operation North State here in NC. i’d love to enter some local stuff with my cousin as my partner but he doesn’t want to “throw his money away”. he makes me so mad sometimes.
  10. many of those fish may not survive the 130 mile round trip from Ray Roberts to Fort Worth for the weigh-in, and then back, in that heat. smh
  11. Zoom U Tail Berkley Power Worm 7” Culprit 7.5” Zoom Shakey Tail
  12. i’m 62 now and have had a few “moles“ removed these last few years. the last one from my right upper back left me looking like i had been stabbed with a bayonet. like some of the others, i grew up getting sun burnt every summer as a kid. then worked construction, was stationed in Cuba for a year, spent my fair share of time on the high sea’s, and rode around on a tractor for years. never even knew what sun screen was. like AJ, i’m covered up now and use the 50 spf with the zinc. time has a way of making a believer out of you, one way or another.
  13. i think this is the thing that trips up a lot of people. the hunting/searching aspect when they’re not dead set on a particular structure/cover deal. it can be maddening to be inching along when you have no real idea of where they’re at. it becomes a confidence issue and thats a big hurdle. as for me, i’m the tediously slow type. i fish my local waters that i am quite familiar with and work over my (mostly offshore) honey holes inch by inch, which is also a confidence thing for me. whenever i fish unfamiliar waters i try to apply my technique there as well. sometimes it works, sometimes it’s a waste. i can be hard headed to a fault. i had an old football coach who only ran a handful of triple option plays on offense, but we knew them like the back of our hand. i blame him.
  14. ? ok, now i get it ?
  15. for the record, i did not fall asleep early last night. i was just resting my eyes!

  18. we scrapped the family Christmas Eve party this year as several of us are/have recently been sick. instead, we did a Zoom party. several households from three different states (NC, FLORIDA and CALIFORNIA) all came together online, 42 people in all. we even held our annual pecan cracking tournament and one of our nieces won her first tourney. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
