  1. I have been using Sufix Seige 10lb for crankbaits this year and it's pretty good line for the money but my favorite is Sunline Defier. It holds up better, lasts longer, and casts slightly better. It's almost 3x the cost though.
  2. I just shipped a 7'6'' tube to CA from Indiana. It was $47 UPS ground. Same tube to anywhere in the Midwest is about half that. The tubes can be expensive too.
  3. A 3/16 oz jig plus trailer is going to be well over 1/4oz. I don't see why you couldn't use a Medium powered spinning or casting rod with that. With jigs, even small ones, I want something with enough power in the butt section to hammer the hook home. What's the budget? Are you leaning towards spinning or casting? I use a 6'8'' Med Fast St. Croix Legend Elite and a Daiwa Steez SV TW for those sized jigs.
  4. I have both the Zillion and the Metanium. The Zillion has been flawless. The Metanium has also been great but I did have to send one back that had a unfinished piece of plastic on the level wind. This would cause the line to catch and backlash. It was easily fixed but when I called about it, Shimano said I should return it and get a new one. The new one has been fantastic and has become my favorite reel for jigs.
  5. It goes with me to work almost everyday and on every fishing trip. I would be lost without it. It's lasted longer than any mug I have owned. I'd say I've got my money's worth out of it.
  6. Ran it last night. Cuts great. I have been looking at them for about 3 years or more. I can't believe how the prices have jumped. I was going to go with a John Deere S110 but there were so many bad reviews, I couldn't get past them. So a Cub Cadet was in my sights for next year but got lucky and found the Troy Bilt. Hope it lasts.
  7. She always likes to have her picture taken.
  8. I pride myself in being lucky at the right time when it comes to finding good deals. For instance, I got my 2018 F150 new just before Covid hit for $36,000. A 2022 just like it costs almost $68,000. So other than fishing stuff, what bargains have you found lately? Here is my latest. I needed a new one. My 1983 Craftsmen was on its last leg. I walked in to Home Depot to return something and there it was.
  9. I haven't been able to go on a real vacation with my wife due to many reasons, oddly money hasn't been one of them. I want to go somewhere with her just once to be away from all of it.
  10. Vinegar and water. Works. Folex for the deck.
  11. I keep fishing a bait until they stop biting and go back to it later. Funny, I can't get a bite on a spinnerbait lately.
  12. St. Croix Legend Tournament MH Mod. and Shimano Conquest 200.
  13. No leader for topwater but definitely for everything else.
  14. Hopefully they will have them in stock. The code changes every month though. Also, I have seen Dobyn's go on sale on their website from time to time as well.
  15. https://www.omniafishing.com/p/dobyns-rods-sam-sobi-signature-series-casting-rods Discount code.... OMPUNCH22SEP Enjoy.....
  16. Check Ebay. $31.00 for a box of 1000.
  17. Same. I do like my 904C NRX though. I killed it earlier this week. These guys stood no chance.....
  18. Love mine. I thought it was crazy at first, especially the price but after using them, I can't see myself using anything else.
  19. It's the norm still. The US was affected but countries like China have been devastated. Where I work, we are still 12-16 months out for delivery on some our machines. Business is booming but resources and man power are limited. As far as the hook goes, if you can't find it, try a different hook.
  20. I use sort of the same for spinner baits.... except I have a 251. Great reel. It will probably out last me.
  21. I use to fish Big Game quite a bit and I always have one statement that sums it up for me...... Big Game is great line until it isn't..... which is why I stopped using it. I always found myself needing to retie and cut a few feet off as the line would start to degrade quickly. I would get random knots breaking and weak spots when it would get kinks from backlashes, which can happen to any line. I also found that in my main lake that I fish they switch to just eating shad in the late summer and fall, which makes the bass's mouth plate almost have like sharp teeth. On mono it can cause the line to fray easily. I have, for the most part, switched to Fluorocarbon in the fall and it has helped a lot.
  22. A Calcutta Conquest 200 would do the job. That is a big rod designed for medium swimbaits but I'm sure it could be used for other big baits.
  23. Sunline Deifier 13lb. Works great and holds up longer than most mono.
  24. Here is what I do.... I considered a few things before I go out. First, where I am going and what conditions will I be facing (wind, rain, depth, muddy water, etc.). Next, am I fishing up close or deep or both. Finally, how long am I staying out. In general I take the following setups..... 1. Texas Rigged Soft Plastic > MH Fast 7' with 12lb FC 2. Wacky Rig > M X-fast 6'8'' Spinning 16lb Braid with Leader 3. Crankbaits > M Mod 7'4'' 10 or 12lb Mono 4. Jigs > H X-fast 7' or longer 15lb FC 5. Topwater, Spinnerbaits or Swimbait > H Fast (soft tip if possible) 7' 40lb braid or 15lb mono 6. BFS > All else fails, this is just fun It varies a little but I might switch to a heavier rod for deep diving cranks or shorter rods if I am fishing close to the bank. Enjoy the PA 12. I have loved my PA 14 so far.
