  1. I have found I like these two the best. The pencil weight is from Decoy and the other is from Reins. Both have a barrel swivel. I like the pencil around weeds and bell shaped one for everything else. Also, both are cheap and can be found at Digitaka.
  2. The free rig and a standard bullet weight set up, to me, are two different techniques. The free rig is sort of a Carolina rig. I like to use up to a 1/4oz open, swivel head drop shot weight. I let it fall to the bottom, pop it kind of hard (this allows the weight to travel up the line), and then I fish it with smaller pops or I drag it. It works great for back gliding baits like the Geecrack Bellows Shad or Gill, the Deps Cover Scat, the Fat Ika and the OSP Dolive Beaver. Line can also be a factor. I have tried it on all three (FC, mono, and braid). It tends to work best on FC.
  3. The Zillion HD or like mentioned above, the Steez A II. The Bantam is a good solid reel but I am not sure how I feel about it for heavier lures. I am sure it would be fine though.
  4. I took a look at this reel and started to add the cost up of what I wanted to add to it and bought a Steez. It was cheaper. It does look like it would be fun to trick out.
  5. When I started to dip my toe into BFS, I was looking for a similar rod but maybe not something that would throw up to 1/2oz.. I did find one that can (it might struggle a little at the heavy end), the Megabass P5 Six Eleven. I have thrown 1/8 cranks easily on it and as heavy as the OSP Blitz Max. It has become one my favorite rods. It loads up perfectly for small cranks and is soft enough to keep the fish pinned. If you can order it at a JDM price, it's one best bangs for the buck I have found.
  6. Good to hear. I ordered one on Monday. It was on my door step this morning. I have to admit, out of the box, it's not that impressive. I will just have to use it to find out.
  7. Is it worth it? My seat on my Hobie PA14 is pretty comfortable but at the end of the day my rear end starts to hurt. I've tried a stadium cushion but it just doesn't fit well. What have you guys used?
  8. I've had good luck with the Decoy Nail Bomb, the Owner Block Heads, and the Picasso Rhino Heads.
  9. Check out an E-bay seller called shimreels. I have ordered from this seller before. They are in Singapore and I took a chance on a bait I lost that was a limited edition Megabass Griffon. They were the only place I could find it. It took about 2-3 weeks to get but it did show up.
  10. If you go to your local DHL warehouse, I think you need to arrange for a warehouse pickup on their website. I would check to see if they will still let you do that. As far as a free gift, they usually send a Fuji bait keeper.
  11. I have ordered multiple rods from them. They usually come really well packaged in a pvc tube. With DHL you will either need to be home to sign or waive the signature and be responsible for it. That's a DHL policy.
  12. G. Loomis 803S GLX. I have the NRX version. Great rod and it handle a variety of weights but a 3/8oz jig with a trailer might be it's max.
  13. PM sent
  14. JLS has them in stocks. Just ordered some 4's and 6's.
  15. Vini, Vidi, Vici
  16. They got me today as well. For each $50 gift card you buy, like I did, you get $60. You can then use that to purchase anything. Pretty awesome deal.
  17. I have have had great luck with Sunline Sniper Invisible. At the US price, it's not worth it but with the JDM price, it makes easier to justify. I can't explain exactly how but it fishes differently than regular Sunline Sniper. It seems stronger and more sensitive. It does have some stretch but it's minimal and the initial pull is slower. I have been using 5lb and 12lb and caught numerous fish in the 3-5lb range with out issue. All of these were on 5lb this year.
  18. No braid. It absorbs water and freezes instantly. Next, chapstick or Burt Bee's Lip Balm. Both work and are easy to apply. There is also a product from Loon's but I have never used it.
  19. Braking, bearings, line and the rod would also come into play. Out of the reels you have, I am going to guess based on other CT reels that the Tatula CT would be the best option. @bulldog1935 might have a better option on this subject.
  20. I got lucky and was able to hit the water yesterday after we ate. I took two rods, one with one of my favorite crankbaits and the other was a Ned Rig. I was short on time but the final score was crankbait 0 and Ned Rig 3. I found I like the Yamamoto 3in Ned Senko in Electric Shad. Not sure why but every lake I have fished this bait has worked.
  21. It's been years ago but I had a Sustain and sold it. I have always regretted it. It was smooth, a little heavy but a real workhorse. I have not picked up the Twin Power. They it's almost equal to the Stella. To be honest, I don't think there is much difference in a 2500 and 3000 on some Shimano reels. Depending on the reel, the spool size might be the only difference and the weight is pretty much the same. I don't think you can go wrong with either one of the reels you picked.
  22. I would go with a 2500 Vanquish. Only held a few P5 spinning rods but own several P5 casting. They tend to have shorter handles and seem to be butt heavy to me with heavier reels but its definitely a personal preference. I would check out a few videos from The Hook Up Tackle. They have several videos on the subject.
  23. If my memory serves me right and checking old emails....I made 7 purchases total. Four for myself, one for a gift, and two others for a fishing buddy. I used the code posted here first and they then sent me a coupon code for 50% off which I used a few times and was able to combine this with their buy 10 get 25% off , followed by another code, and finally an additional 30% off select sale items. For example, I got jigs for $1.75 and most of thier crankbaits were around $3.50.
  24. It wasn't me but they sent me a code in an email. I used it a few times during thier sale.
  25. I turn my kayak parallel to the bank, find a depth I want on the fish finder, and cast straight ahead. I move the kayak in until it hits the bottom. It gives me a ballpark idea of what the depth is.
