  1. Zoom finesse worm for me as well.
  2. Thanks for the suggestion Raul and RW but I have a Sustain 2500 and believe it or not, it has an IPT of 33". ;D I am really looking for a baitcaster. I have been using the Sustain for this purpose but I have become more comfortable with a baitcaster and besides the Baitmonkey keeps hounding me. I have been considering a Daiwa Zillion, Quantum Tour Edition Pt and (of course) the Shimano Curado but I am intersted in reading opinions on whatever reel that you guys suggest.
  3. I have tried both and each seem to be about equal in number of fish caught. If had to go on looks and quality, I'd say the Booyah.
  4. The Pointer is one of my favorite lures, especially the American Shad in the 100 size. Just wanted to see what everyones favorite color/size was in this lure.
  5. I have been thinking of buying a "burner" reel and wanted to see if anybody had a favorite or any opinions on what to look for. I will be using it to fish spinner baits, buzz baits and frogs. I have not decided which rod to go with yet. I am going to wait until I can put the set together before I decide. Thanks for any info.
  6. I have a BCR 803 with the recoil guides and it is the most sensitive rod I have ever used. The guides have not been a factor except with braid (sufix and powerpro). Braid causes a lot of noise. So personally, I would stay with mono. Anyway, enjoy your new rod.
  7. I have a 251 and so far it has been a excellent reel.
  8. Just in case, I saw that P-Line is offering a $6 mail in rebate if you buy two spools. Thought this might come in handy for those who had mentioned they were wanting to try the new Halo and Evolution. http://www.p-line.com/home.php
  9. The Kreature has become one of my favorite baits. I fish it like a craw or a lizard, T-Rigged with an 3/16 bullet weight and a 4/0 EWG hook.
  10. Early last year I looked at both of these reels and could not make up my mind. I ended up buying both with the intention of returning one, this was with the salesman's advice and permission. I fished both on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday for about 8 hours each day. I ended up returning the Stradic. The Quantum just was a better feeling reel. It handled the bigger fish better, it was smoother and seemed to be a better made reel. The only complaint I have of the Energy Pti is the drag. There is not much a setting difference between tight and loose. Just in case, this is not to say that the Stradic is not a fine reel, I just like the Quantum Energy Pti better. I now have two of them in the 20 size and I would I highly recommend it.
  11. Wow!!!!! Awesome rod and reel set up. Enjoy your new combo and I hope your shoulder gets better soon.
  12. I have both Shimano and Quantum reels but Shimano is my favorite,
  13. I had one and it was excellent rod until it broke when I was setting the hook on a monster catfish. I then had a bad experience with their customer service when I tried to get the rod repaired under their warranty. If it had not been for the bad customer service, I would have rushed out to buy another one. It was a fine rod for the money. I have talked to several others who have owned an All-Star and they have no complaints about quality or customer service. My experience seems to be an isolated one.
  14. My favorite is the G. Loomis BCR803. It is by far the most sensitive rod I have ever used. Here is a review from TackleTour. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewgloomisjwbcr803.html
  15. Zoom Lizards, Senkos, and Lucky Craft Crankbaits
  16. My favorites at that price would have to be the St. Croix Avid ($160) or for about $70 more a G. Loomis IMX(SJR782S) both are a 6'6'' M. The Loomis is worth the extra bucks but both are fine rods. One other choice would be a G. Loomis BSR803 Mossyback. I have not fished this one but I have looked at it and it is a fine rod for around $215.
  17. I have a fishing buddy that uses the Tourney Special for all five of his Curados and he will use nothing else. He tournament fishes every weekend (spring through late fall) and does quite well with them. He purchases two new ones every year, throws two old ones away and rotates them by age. He says that the tip of the rods become to soft and flexible over time. I have fished one of his old set ups and it was very springy and loose and the cork was pretty much destroyed. It was just worn out. I sort of see his point when it comes to replacing them but I don't fish 10-16 hours every Saturday and Sunday and I don't want to have to replace my equipment that often.
  18. If the Pointer 100 American Shad is your first LC, it won't be the last. Just an awesome lure. On a side note, what's up with women and picking out that exact lure? I got four of them in my tackle box: one from my wife on my birthday, one from my mother in law, one from my daughter on X-mas and another one from my wife on X-mas. None of these women have a clue about fishing and all I asked for was a Lucky Craft lure once for my birthday. I thought these strange creatures talked to each other.
  19. Needles and The Lake ***
  20. You have the best toys . Pretty soon you will need a bigger examining table for your shipments. You need to get some pics of those awesome Mexican hogs you've been catching.
  21. BPS has been my favorite. Their service is good but it always takes a couple of weeks to get my order.
  22. What kind of P-Line are you using? I have tried their fluorocarbon and it had lots of memory. I switched to their floroclear and had no problems.
  23. I have Shimano Calcutta 251 and I have been using 15lb P-Line Floroclear. I have had zero problems, very few backlashes, and it is very durable.
  24. Peyton is now a living legend. The Bears can't stop all the weapons. But if the Bears do win, their defense will out score their offense and that's sad :'( :'( :'( Colts: 28 Bears: 10
  25. Colts all the way. Why? One word>Grossman. One dimension against the Colts is not enough.
