  1. I think this is what I bought for my wife early on this year. She seems to like it a lot. I have only fished a couple of times and was very surprised at how nice of a reel it was. http://www.daiwa.com/Reel/detail.aspx?ID=73
  2. WOW That's a monster.
  3. I heard somewhere that Wal-Mart will have a health care center inside a few of there stores. So now I can get my oil changed, my hair cut, go to the bank, eat at a McDonalds or Subway, get my taxes done, pick a new pair of perscription glasses and get treated for a serious illnesses. What's next, a tattoo parlor? When I think of affordable health care, Wal-Mart is not exactly what I had in mind. On a side note, the Wal-Mart gas stations around here in Indiana are going out of business. Murphy Oil is no longer.
  4. Washington DC, the city were even the Pizza delivery guy carries a gun. Washington DC, the city were if you run for office you should just keep on going.
  5. He so good that it makes you realize how sad the rest of the NBA is and how special of a player he is. And to think at his age he could only get better.
  6. I use the name brand stuff. I try to watch for sales and coupons. I have been buying Senkos for around $4.00 a pack at Dicks. They are usually $5.99 a pack. When they go on sale they are 20% off, I will buy 11 packs and use a $10 off a $50 purchase coupon.
  7. Soft Plastic > GYCB Crankbaits > Lucky Craft and Rapala Spinner Baits > Booyah Inline Spinners > Mepps Jigs > Booyah Buzzbaits > Booyah Lipless cranks > XCalibur
  8. I like PowerPro the best (50lb) and Sufix second. Both are great lines.
  9. I have not had chance to fish a Kislter rod but I hear that they are an excellent rod manufacture. After reading what you're intending to use the rod for, I'd pick the G. Loomis BCR803. As far as the power goes the MH should do. Is this the rod you're looking at? http://www.kistlerrods.com/p/KR/c-mt-worm-fishing-jig-rods/MgAPSMH66.html
  10. I like june bug but my favorite is smoke pearl laminate.
  11. No, not really. I fish a pond that is the overflow of the local waste treatment plant and the water is absolutely pure and clear. You can watch a senko fall and twitch back and forth on a retrieve. There seems to be no problem with the the fall and action that the 4/0 EWG causes. It is, IMHO, the perfect fit for a 5in or 6in senko, dinger or whatever cigar plastic you use.
  12. This photo is similar but again solid red not stripe or markings around the eye.
  13. I don't tend to catch too many smallmouth but the ones I have caught here in Indiana and in Tennessee have been like the ones in RW's avitar (only smaller). They have a large amount of bronze and red striping but the one I caught today had no striping at all and instead of being bronze it was solid red. Out of the freshwater fish I have caught, it had one of the most vicious strikes I have encountered. It weighed 3lb 4oz and was the best looking fish I have ever caught. I have looked online and have found no photos of what I caught. Sorry I am being a little vague but it did look like a smallmouth but again no stripes just solid red. Any ideas what it was? I am going to continue to research online to see what I can find. Thanks for any of your thoughts and ideas.
  14. If I fish them weigthless I use a Quantum Energy Pti-a 20 on a St. Croix Avid ML 6' or a M 6'6'' with 6lb YoZuri or 6lb P-line Floroclear and a 4/0 Gamakatsu EWG. If I fish them weighted I use a Shimano Calcutta 251 with a G. loomis MBR803, 14lb Gamma Copolymer, 3/16oz bullet weight and a 4/0 Gamakastu EWG. Occasionally when I'm in heavy cover, I will use a Shimano Calais 201A on a G. Loomis MBR783 with 50lb PowerPro, 1/4oz bullet weight and again the 4/0 EWG.
  15. I try to buy a little hear and a little there. I have chosen to force my last hog wild shopping spree out of my mind but I'm sure my wife remembers. ;D I think I came home with a Daiwa Zillion, a G. Loomis MBR844, 10 or so Lucky Craft Lures, and 15 bags of Senkos. The details are still fuzzy but I still have the lump on my head from my wife.
  16. I have the BCR803 paired with an older Shimano Calcutta 251. I like the slower speed and it has some real cranking power to bring in the big ones. But if I had to pick another, I'd go with the Daiwa Zillion. It's easy to use, palms well, and cast like a dream.
  17. I have the BCR803 GLX and it works great for all my T-rigged plastic. When I purchased it I did look at the 804 and I thought it was a little to heavy. The 803 is the most sensitive rod I have ever fished with. Just in case, what reel and what line are planning on using? Also, what plastic are planning on using?
  18. "What makes reels cost so much?" Because we (some fishermen) are willing to pay for it. ;D ;D ;D
  19. Senkos Green Pumpkin/Watermelon #912 Senkos Smoke Pearl/Blue Lam. #927 Senkos Green Pumpkin/Black Flake #297 Senkos Pumpkin/Black Flake #186 Fat Ikas Black Blue Flake #021 Fat Ikas Pumpkin/Black and Green Flake #196 Zoom Lizards Black/Blue Tail Zoom Lizards Watermelon/Red Zoom Brush Hog Watermelon/Red Sweet Beavers Penatration 10 4/0 Gamakatsu EWG Hooks 10 3/0 Gamakatsu EWG hooks 25 3/16oz bullet weights That should put you around $70. Enjoy and say hi to the Bait Monkey for me.
  20. Always. It gives it a little more action.
  21. I tried two spools of Fireline last year and both were terrible. I tried it on both spinning reels and a baitcaster. It worked well for about 2 hours of use and then the line started to break and seperate. I can understand one bad spool but two from two different stores. I will not using it again. I'm going to stay with PowerPro and Sufix.
  22. I usually use a white sonic rooster tail or a Mepps. I'll take 3 or 4 of the same lure when the crappie are making a run. These lures have been my secret weapon for quite some time when it comes to crappie. They will start hitting them hard around 2 hours before sundown in lakes and ponds I go to.
  23. For unweighted Senkos and Ikas I prefer spinning equipment. For weighted T-rigged soft plastic I prefer baitcasters. My favorite setup is a Quantum Energy Pti-a 20 on a 6'6'' M St. Croix Avid with either 6lb YoZuri Hybrid or P-Line Floroclear , a 4/0 Gami and a 5in Senko Green Pumpkin Black Flake.
  24. Avid, I have a Calcutta 251 and it probably the easiest to cast out of all the baitcasters I own. I seldom change the brakes but when I do I put a piece of white tape on the spool to hold the line, unscrew the side plate screws (which should be thumb tight, no tools needed), take out the spool and change the breaks. The hard part is putting the side plate back on but once you get use to it, it's easy. I have this reel set up on a Loomis BCR803. I use it for most of my T-Rig soft plastics with a 3/16oz weight. Unless I do something stupid, I never get a backlash, even when I cast into the wind. I guess it is just what you are use to. There is another solution.........
