  1. Nice find. I have been surching around my area for a Legend Tournament on clearance but no luck so far. The Gander Mountain by me is sold out and all of other local shops that carry them have not put them on sale. When I mention that they have been discountinued and new 08' is coming out, they think I'm crazy, especially when I tell them I got a Avid at Dicks for $65. ;D I am going to try one more shop today that carries Loomis and St.Croix rods to see if I have any luck.
  2. I have been a lot of good advice from people on the forum but there are few things that I have had issues with........ 1. Rapala X-Raps 2. Seaguar Line 3. Cajun Red Line (used it years ago and still no luck) 4. One All Star Classic rod (I would like to think this was user error)
  3. I don't think there is any disadvantage to them but you might be able to cast some lighter baits a little easir. For me I like using a Quantum Energy Pti-a 20 for cranks. It has a 24in IPT as compare to my Shimano Sustain 2500 which 33in IPT.
  4. Hey Burley, Cool collection but what the heck are those things sitting on? Oh ya, the Storm baits stink (suck). I have tried them in a few ponds where the bass will bite anything from popcorn to pieces of a tin can but they won't touch those Storm swimmbaits.
  5. I have to go with Loomis as my favorite. The BCR803 has to be the funnest rod I own but the best value goes to the St. Croix Avid (last years clearanced ones )
  6. I went with Yamamoto. I have also been a big fan of Zoom Lizards for years.
  7. Anybody ever try these hooks? I noticed today at Dicks that they had a mail in offer from Rapala if you buy $10 worth of VMC products you get a free Rapala DT by mail. Sounds like an awesome offer. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=58032&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults
  8. If you live near a BPS, I would wait until they have their spring sale. They usually have a reel trade-in and some really good sales on their house brand reels. They only reel from them that I have used and liked was the Rick Clunn Baitcaster. I think last year you could pick it up for around $75 on sale during the spring sale.
  9. I have several brands that I like for different reasons but if I had to pick my favorite everyday all purpose line I would go with P-line Floroclear. If I had to pick my favorite line, I would go with Trilene Professional Fluorocarbon.
  10. The G. Loomis BCR893 should do nicely.
  11. Hands down, the best "Bling" upgrade I have seen yet. Great Job
  12. I cast with my right and reel with my left. It just feels more natural. I'm sure I could get use to a right handed reel but why should I.
  13. Sounds like a good set to me. If you can wait till spring and BPS should have 1/4lb spools of regular Hybrid on sale for about $6. That's 1000yards of 6lb for $6.
  14. For me it's the Rapala X-raps. I have only caught a couple of fish with these things. I have tried several techniques and different lakes and honey holes but no luck. I even tried at a pond where the fish will bite anything exept the X-rap. I don't get it.
  15. I only picked up a couple of packs. I just purchased some Yum and Zoom Tubes a few weeks ago so I really didn't need them. But for $0.75, why not.
  16. I was at Gander Mountain the other day and picked up some Strike King Bleeding Tubes for $0.75. They had three good colors, Black w/blue flake, watermellon w/ black flake, and a dark red with/copper and blake flake.
  17. I have a 6' ML St. Croix Avid spinning rod with a Quantum Energy Pti-a 20. This set up sure is fun to use. I fish with inline spinnerbaits, weightless 4in senkos and light weight cranks. I caught all kind of bass with it and it also doubles as a great setup for crappie.
  18. It works great for me. It is much better than it used to be.
  19. Got to play with my Mac today and WOW, what a machine. I did not get my memory upgrade yet. It should be here tomorrow. They were sold out of the base models and all the memory upgrades at the Mac Store. I guess some people are actually maxing these things out. I would rather buy a new car for that kind of money. As far as the computer goes, it the fastest, smothest and most powerful machine I ever used. Will see how it operates after I abuse for six months or so.
  20. For the money, I like the Shimano Curado 100. It is simple, easy to use, and a proven winner. They also have a $50 rebate on it. My second choice would be the Daiwa Zillion. And I will also second what Lubina said. Three years ago I purchased my first low profile baitcaster and I went through 3 or 4 different reels before I found the right one. It seemed the cheaper priced ones where harder to use (do to my inexperience) than lets say the Curado. As my casting experience grew, I found that I could use the orginal ones I had purchased better. So I guess, I would have gone all out on the first one I bought, just to save a lot of time and frustration.
  21. Them's fightin' words! Only if you don't mind lining Steve Jobs' pockets. It doesn't matter whose pockets I line, Jobs' or Gates', I use both a PC and Mac. They are both seperate tools used to get a job done. The Mac is best, hands down, for all printing applications Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Quark, ect. The PC is best for office use type applications such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and E-mail. I can get Microsoft Office for the Mac, I just like it better on a PC. I do like I-Tunes better than other media players and it seems most drivers work better on a PC. But if you add the new Vista in to the equation, I think the Mac Lepeord (10.5) is the winner of Operating Systems. I like XP. Vista stinks. As far as who makes the better machine, I guess it is up to the user. For me at work, I can't function with out both.
  22. I have the high speed Zillion and it is a great reel. I usually fish it with 50lb Power Pro. I use it for just about anything but you just have to remember to slow it down when you need to. I found it works best with 3/8oz lures and above. I have tried lighter weight lures but it does not cast as far other reels I own using the same rod, line and lure. It is the perfect fit for lipless cranks, topwater buzzbaits, and jerkbaits. I was also surprised at how much power this little reel has. I would highly recommend it.
  23. I think they came out in 2006 but I when I see these guys I think I'm looking at a guy at FootLocker. I wish they could find something to improve their vision. ;D
  24. I'd look for the stuff I could not find at my local bait shop and let the bait monkey go hog wild. If I was going tomorrow, I would pick up some of the new Fat Rapala DTs, some LC 128 Pointers, 6in Senkos, Kreatures, and some Sonic Rooster Tails. None of this stuff is available locally.
