  1. like sea world. :'( ;D Love the free beer at Sea World. I hope that never goes away. Short story..... Went to Sea World. It rained all day so we hung out at the Bud building and partied with all the free beer we could handle. It was a great time what I remember about it. PS. Bud is great beer. It tastes like beer not water....
  2. I have had the experience of having to get my heat pump and furnace replaced a few years ago with a high effeciency model and I also put new insulation in the attic at the time. My house is all electric and 4 years ago my bill use to average about $180 a month. Now with the new furnace, programable thermostat, insulation, a front loading washer/dryer and my house now has all compact flourescents (these have had the biggest impact), my bill is about $110 a month and that is with paying way more per kilowatt than I was 4 years ago.
  3. I always look through the bargin bins at Wal-Mart, Dick's, Gander Mountian, etc. I have never found anything at any Wal-Mart that was worth it and very little at Gander Mountain but Dick's is a different story. They will mark good baits (Yum, Excalibur Lures, Lucky Craft, Rapala, GYCB, just to name a few) on clearance and then they will mark all clearance either at 50% or 25% off. Finally I will use a $10 off if you buy $50 coupon. That's about as cheap as you can get it. One thing about bargin bin baits and lures> If it doesn't work, it aint a bargin, just a waist of money. So be selective. There are times when fish will just bite on just about anything. This is the time to through that flouresent purple and pink swirled bargin bin plastic worm that you bought at a $1.00 for a pack of 20.
  4. A little more info may help. What do you want to use the reel for? How much do you want to invest? Bait casting or spinning? And what size if it is a spinning reel? Just as a general sugggestion, a St. Croix Avid in a M or MH Fast 6'6'' bait casting or spinning would be a good place to start.
  5. I had a Premier that had that problem, among others. On mine it did not matter where you set the brakes, it applied the same amount of stopping power. After talking to a few people, this seems to be a recuring problem with the Revos but an isolated one. If you can, I would exchange it for another one. Several members here have them and have reported no issues what so ever.
  6. The Lucky Craft Moonsault is my favorite but I have had good luck with the Mann's -1 as well.
  7. Personally, I have never done well with the X-raps. I have bought several and have tried numerous presentations, ect. I rank it at the top of my biggest dissapoints in lures. On the other hand it is a total different story with the LC Pointer. I have caught tons of fish with this lure. It well worth the extra cash.
  8. Great product. It's a match made in heaven when you put in on Fluorocarbon.
  9. If I average it out I would say $75 a month. I have been buying one setup a year, maybe one $40-$50 trip to my local tackle shop once a month and maybe a Megabass lure every couple of months on ebay.
  10. I can't speak for the BCR854 Mossyback but the MBR844C IMX is the best general purpose rod I have. This rod can handle just about anything. I find it works great for Fat Ikas and 5 in Senkos, jerkbaits, topwater lures, jigs (just OK), and especially great for Carolina Rigs. On the other hand I have a BCR803 GLX that I use for jigs/worms exclusively. It is the most sensitive rod I own and also the most fun. If have a couple extra bucks, I would highly recommend it.
  11. I've tried all kinds of braid, including Fireline, Sufix, Spiderwire, Stren, P-Line, PowerPro, and recently Daiwa Samura. Out of all of them the PowerPro has worked the best with Sufix being a close second. Just in case, I usually only use braid on baitcasting gear. I would have to say the worst of the bunch are the Fireline and Spiderwire. One thing I try to keep in mind with braid is that if I don't have to use it, I don't. I have better results with Fluorocarbons on baitcasters and regular (mono/copoly/hybrid) lines like YoZuri Ultrasoft on spinning gear.
  12. They can look cosmetically cool but it's what on the inside that counts. I hope they have improved the quality of their parts. One things for sure though, it has style.
  13. When I use to live in Nashville, TN, I heard a story about a guy who died of food posioning at one of those restaruants. It was always called "Death in the Box" after that.
  14. I know that with the proper setup (rod and reel) and the proper technique you can cast just about anything out there with a baticaster. But why fight it when you can use a spinning gear setup if the conditions call for it. IMHO, baitcasters and spinning gear both have their place. They're just two seperate tools for the job. For instance, I like to use a St. Croix Avid ML 6' rod and Shimano Stradic 2500 for Rooster tails and 3in and 4in Senkos. I don't think I would cast the same thing on a Loomis MBR844 and a Daiwa Zillion. I would also not use a baitcaster when I am casting into a gusty wind. I just try to keep it easy as possible when I'm out fishing. I'd rather be fighting fish than my gear.
  15. Shimano Core and a Loomis BCR803 would be my setup of choice for soft plastic and jigs.
  16. I use it for pretty much everything except shallow cranks and topwater.
  17. I bought a bunch last year and still have plenty to last me until probably next year. Each of the spools I have used have been great, no issues what so ever. When I went to the BPS in Clarksville, IN last year, they had tons of it. People would pick it up, look at it and put back because they tought there had to be something wrong with it for the price. Just a great deal.....
  18. The Canon S5 gets my vote for the best bang for the buck camera. It has most of the features and quality of a high end SLR. It also has the ability to shoot some nice quality video.
  19. Take your pick most all of them are great but here are my 3 favorites in order 1. Flat mini MR in Chartreuse Shad 2. Sammy 128 Aurora Black 3. Pointer 100 in American Shad
  20. If it cost $6 to get one for free, the least they could do is have the T-Shirt say Shimano........ ;D ;D ;D Just joking This is sort of like Shimano's free Satelite service, granted they do a fantastic job, but they no longer give free shipping labels with the cleaning coupons and it cost you $10 to get the reel shipped back to you. http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/customer_service0/authorized_warranty.download.-mainParsys-000110-downloadFile.html/Reel%20Repair%20Request%20Form_08.pdf
  21. George Carlin is one my personal heroes. I look at his comedy this way..... You'll laugh until he makes you think. I saw him in concert years ago. He was fantastic. I will miss him. :'(
  22. Thought this was cool..... http://www.break.com/index/ball-girl-makes-incredible-catch.html
  23. From time to time a book comes along that changes the way you look at the world, who we are, and how we live our lives. Several years I ago I read such a book and I have recently found it once again. It is called "Cry, the Beloved Country." It was written in 1948 and is centered around life at that time in South Africa. If you like to read and have the time, I would highly recommend giving this book a chance. Here is a small piece of it. Cry, the beloved country, for the unborn child that is the inheritor of our fear. Let him not love the earth too deeply. Let him not laugh too gladly when the water runs through his fingers, nor stand too silent when the setting sun makes red the veld with fire. Let him not be too moved when the birds of his land are singing, nor give too much of his heart to a mountain or a valley. For fear will rob him of all if he gives too much.
  24. Very Cool.... My niece had Sagan at Ithica. She said that he had the unique ability to make the large things very small, even people.
