  1. I started to go down the swimbait road but it got to rich for my blood. I started with a dedicated rod and reel set up and the some of the soft plastic swimbaits. I found the soft plastic baits to be kind of unproductive so I then went to a few Megabass swimbaits. It was like night and day, I caught fish left and right with these baits. But after losing a $60 bait, I started to think twice. I thought about throwing some bigger baits but they started to get into the $100 range. After that, I decided it was a lot of fun but to much for my wallet.
  2. I have this one as well. It is a pretty good bait. My personal favorite is ghost minnow. I have used this bait so much that is almost totally clear.
  3. Personally, I would stick with the combo that you are currently using for jerkbaits and figure what crank you through the most, then buy the rod accordingly. The one you picked would be a great choice for just about most of the stuff I through. I have fished this rod before and liked it but I thought it was too sensitive. I ended up returning it for the CBR 783 (not one of my better decisions). I wish I would have stuck with the longer GLX. On the bright side, I purchased a Shimano Crucial last year and it has fit the bill nicely. It bridges the gap between sensitivity and power. As far as a reel goes, the low speed chronarch will do nicely.
  4. Wow. That's a lot of grease. After the last few reels I have purchased, I am convinced that reel manufactures put grease and oil on reels so they can store them instead of putting enough on them to make them function properly.
  5. Their catalog, and to some extent the stores, have gone down hill. The two I visit use to carry all the high end stuff; rods, reels, etc. You could find every high end rod from Daiwa, G. Loomis, and St. Croix, all the newest reels, and huge selection of expensive crankbaits, but this has not been the case as of late. They seem to be pushing their BPS branded stuff by eliminating the better items from top name brands. This seems to be evident in their clothes as well. Based on what I have seen, I am not sure what direction they are trying to go. It is still fun to visit though.
  6. Is there such a thing as too much tackle? Probably but it doesn't stop most fisherman from trying something new. When I head out to fish I always have too much tackle with me, there is know way I'll use half of it. I know a few fly fisherman and they just get a big chuckle out of the equipment I take with me. They may own just as much as me but something can be said for the level of organization and fishing skills (matching what the fish are biting on) when it comes to the minimalized amount of equipment they carry compared to most bass fisherman.
  7. I use both. I have a pc at home and both a mac and pc at work. They are each different tools for different things (at least at work). Just give it time and it will be easy to figure out. First thing with a Mac, no control panel. They have just simplified it, in their terms. Bad thing is, if you have a problem, you are stuck restarting a mac instead being able to fix or find the problem with a PC. With that said, most macs I have used over the years are more stable and last longer. I use my PC for everyday things, like email, internet, and watching videos. My Mac is for using design software.
  8. I like to use a MH 6'6" Fast rod for this application with 10lb mono.
  9. Just came back from the movies and saw it for $1.75.
  10. Out of the ones you have on your list, I like the crucial but the fenwick elite tech bass rods might be a good one to look at.
  11. I just received an order of Keitech salty core sticks. As usual, can't wait to try these out. They appear to be the best quality looking soft plastic bait I have ever seen. They also smell like dead fish. Many companies have tried to nail this smell but this is the first time I think they got it right. As far as color goes, they all look like they are holographic (very cool).
  12. Wow. That is about the coolest thing I have seen yet for a phone. It will get rid of the smart watches.
  13. I have never seen these rods in the flesh nor do I know of anyone who has one. If was not for Tackle Tours review, they would probably would have gone unnoticed. Based on the review, it looks like a quality rod at a good price.
  14. This is the smartest line I have ever used. It has more memory than me,,,,,,
  15. Duo Realis Crankbait in solid black.
  16. The Santa BaitMonkey brought me 2 packs of Senkos, 2 packs of Fat Ikas, 4 packs of Owner EWG hooks, 1 Depps Crankbait, 1 pack of JDM worms that I can not identify, 1 spool of Tatsu, 2 spools of Invizx, 2 spools on Senshi, 2 pairs of fishing pants, a Howler fishing shirt and an ExOfficio Bugs A Way Baha fishing shirt. Santa was good to me this year.....
  17. Spinnerbaits and Jerkbaits would be my choice but I don't see why it would not work for wacky rigged soft plastic. You could also use this for light swim jigs as well.
  18. The Shimano Calcutta and the Shimano Sustain. Both great reels and built like tanks. On a side note, I have had a Daiwa Zillion for 7 years and it is a fine reel but I would not put in the longevity category (as always, this is just an opinion). One reel that I have see a lot of that seems to be bullet proof, is the Pflueger President spinning reel. Most of the guys I know who own these, do nothing to them and they just seem to keep going.
  19. 6lb Trilene 100% FC XL. I have tried Invizx 6lb and did not care for it. I love 12lb though for any baitcaster.
  20. My opinion on this changes from time to time but in general...... G. Loomis MBR783 GLX 6'6" MH Fast with a Shimano Core 101MG. It is the most versatile set up I have.
  21. I looked up the sku on the front and it list a 65lb 300 yard spool. Also all the other spools I looked at with 1500 yards are larger spool with a different label. One other thing, the label should also list the line stats in metric.
  22. I have tried the 12lb Red Label and it is pretty good line. It is stiffer than Invizx but not bad. I would recommend using the KVD line conditioner. It helped some. With 20lb though, it might be quite stiff. You might put a little bit of backing on the spool (not sure if this will help but it has become standard procedure for me) What bait caster are you putting it on?
  23. Depending on the conditions 10lb Yo Zuri Hybrid or 12lb Invizx.
  24. I have one of the older Elite Tech Small Mouth rods and it is not to bad. I would compare it to the St. Croix Avid but it casts better. In the sensitivity category, it maybe just a fuzz less than the Avid but only by a small amount. It is a nice all around rod though. One other thing is that it balances well with heavier reels.
  25. The best deal I have found so far was, 600 yard spools of Yo Zuri Hybrid for $4 each. I bought several spools a few years ago and this should be the last year for it. It has been pretty good line considering what I paid for it.
