  1. G Loomis GLX 844C or 843C. I have the 844 and it is rated as heavy but it is more of a MH. I also have the 783C. If I had to choose one for over all general purpose I like the 844 but from a kayak the shorter 783 might be better. I have used both for all kinds of stuff both are sensitive and have some hook setting power. I have used them for crankbaits but they may be too sensitive for that technique.
  2. I would say $250. I have the 101 and it is my personal favorite. I would love to get my hands on the 51.
  3. I use on 3 different setups. I have the 6lb, 10lb and 15lb versions. All are pretty good. My only complaint is that the 6lb develops memory pretty quickly and can sometimes be unmanageable.
  4. I think this stuff works it's best when the line is at the end of its life or is just bad from the get go. If the line you use is soft and limp from the get go, then this stuff maybe pointless. For me, it works but if I have good quality line and it's new then what's the point. Also, I have seen this several times with this stuff, guys make two mistakes with it > 1) They don't shake the bottle. 2) They store it above or below room temp (if you store it on a boat or in your car, it seems to break down over time).
  5. It's good stuff. I have found it works better on mono and better on certain FC lines than others. For me it makes lines more manageable and it does increase casting distance. I do question how long it lasts. Sometimes, it may only a few casts. Sometimes, it's all day. I think it may have to do with how much sun exposure your line gets through out the day.
  6. I have tried it and it was not the greatest. I actually prefer several other lines to it. It not completely bad. There are just better lines out there at the same price point, that I feel are better. I would definitely not use this line on spinning gear. I would start with Invizx. It last longer and is easier to manage.
  7. I have tried KVD line conditioner and it helps some but with this line it doesn't absorb water that much which KVD line conditioner is mostly made out of. It would coat the line but after a few casts, it would just come off. On other lines, KVD works great but on super hard lines like this one, it's just didn't do its trick. I have since stopped using KVD line conditioner because of this reason. It's not because I don't like it, I just don't think I need it for the lines I use. I may change my mind in the future because it works great on Hybrid.
  8. If your looking for something that can take beating and be reliable (bullet proof) and have a in between retrieve, my mind thinks of round reels. If I had to pick, the Abu Garcia C4 comes to mind.
  9. It was one of the worst lines I have ever used. I tried 3 different spools because of a rebate. All were bad.
  10. Since I am doing my taxes this weekend.
  11. Texas Rigged soft plastic.
  12. I tried it a few years ago and did not care for it. I thought it was not bad for the price but it did not last long (maybe 3 trips out before I noticed it changing) or perform as well as many others out there. It did have a ton of memory and the 12lb I used got kinked easily. I think it would be impossible to use on spinning gear. I like their regular Hybrid line better. The closest thing I could compare it to would be Seaguar Red Label. It would be just a step below that in quality though. Also, welcome to the forum.....
  13. My experience with rods as this price point has not good but there is one that sticks out.... Fenwicks Eagle or if you can find it on sale... the HMX is great. Both rods are a no frills, get the job done type rod.
  14. For me they are different tools for different things (techniques). I prefer baitcasters for certain things and spinning reels for others. It's not a iPhone versus Android type thing for me. It's more like Mac versus PC> each one excels at different things and I have to use both to be good at my job.
  15. I have seen this sort of thing recently at a liquidation auction. The seller claimed he bought a bunch of Amazon returns and was reselling them as new. In reality, he had stolen his items from parked delivery trucks and couriers. Porch Pirates are real.
  16. Sure, bigger sinker, bigger bait. But I like to think of this as a finesse technique, which for me means, spinning gear, ML longer rod, and 6lb test.
  17. I am partial GYCB but I probably have a dozen baits buy a dozen manufactures that get fished just as much. It seems each manufacture has at least one signature bait that keeps them going. This is the basics for me.... Stick bait> GYCB 5in Senko and maybe the General from Berkley Ribbon Tail Worm> Rage Tail, Anaconda, Zoom Ole Monster, and Berkley PowerBait Power Worm 7in Creature Bait> There just too many but GYCB Kreature, GYCB Fat Ika are my favorites Trailer> Zoom Chunk and BioSpawn Vile Craw/Rage Baby Craw Lizard> Zoom Finesse Worms> BioSpawn 6.5in Plasma Tail/Roboworm Padle Tail/Swimbait>Zoom Fluke and Keitech
  18. They generally come with a size 6 VMC. I have only replaced a few over the years and I like Owners Stinger Treble hook just a little bit better, same size. They are just a bit thicker and more durable but they don't seem heavier. They are definitely sharper (like bone crushing sharp).
  19. Reel is solid... Rod is just ok..... https://www.amazon.com/Abu-Garcia-Black-Spinning-Fishing/dp/B01IDEMPPM/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2DJLN2T331ZHE&keywords=abu%2Bgarcia%2Bspinning%2Breel%2Bcombo&qid=1547773447&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011%2Cp_89%3AAbu%2BGarcia&rnid=2528832011&rps=1&sprefix=abu%2Bgarcia%2Bspinner%2Caps%2C163&sr=8-3&th=1
  20. I have tried several and Power Pro has always been the best.
  21. That's great deal on the Chronarch. I wish we had an Academy here in Indy. All we have is a couple of Dicks Sporting Goods and they carry very little. All of the local tackle shops are gone except a fly shop and the Gander Outdoors by me closed on December 30th.
  22. Awesome set up. If I were you, I would have cabin fever. I couldn't wait to get that out on the water.
  23. I use 5 setups on the boat, each a little different. I have duplicates of two of what I call my general purpose setups. If something goes south the duplicate set ups are a good fit for just about any type of bass fishing. That way I don't feel like I have to rush to get something fixed or replaced. I use 2 jig and worm rods (one for light baits and one for heavier baits), 1 crank bait rod, 1 top water (or jerk bait depending not the time of the year), and 1 general purpose.
