I just bought the NRR. I haven't used it but I also have the 803s and comparing the two, the 803 is definitely faster and 821 has a slightly softer tip. The 821 is more finnese oriented. I considered the 822 but was looking for something to do both drop shot and Ned rig. The 821 seemed to fit the bill. I am planning to get out this week with it.

That's were I got mine. I was going to get the self contained bit driver but saw this one. It had a bunch of odd bits that I have needed at some point but I never could find them.

I have EVA, cork and Winn Grip rods and out of the three, I like good old fashioned cork. I have had EVA rods start to fall apart when wet. They also get this slimy feel like stated above. Winn Grips work well in wet water but are weird to me when dry. Cork works under every condition.

Shimano Vanquish 3000 and a G. Loomis 803S NRX+. With a baitcaster I use a Daiwa Steez CT SV TW 700HL and a NRX 802C.

A couple schools of thought on this subject....... 1. And this is what I would do..... Keep what you have. Enjoy. Those are some nice reels. I have a variety as well (I like to mix it up) and with one exception, I set them up pretty much all the same. As a starting point, I set the cast control with a 3/8 to 1/2 ounce weight, which is about 90% of my fishing, and then the breaking system at or above 50% of the minimum setting. This allows me to adjust each system pretty easily to the conditions and lures I am fishing. 2. Sell them and buy 5 or 6 reels with a line up that will fit your needs. I.E., 5 Curado with different reel speeds, if necessary and for rods, 5 Shimano Exprides for the different techniques you fish. The 6th one would be spinning setup for windy days or crappie fishing. Also, if you are selling several setups, it may give you an opportunity to invest in better rods, which is were I would rather put my money. 3. Pick one of your current reels you feel most comfortable with, then pick one that you like the most, sell the rest and buy other reels within that same line up to match the one you are most comfortable with. Keeping the one odd ball will fill the need to fish something different. So for me I like a variety of reels. It's fun to change them around and use them as I see fit. To me, each of my setups have a personality and this sort of adds to the fun. On the other hand, I also tournament fish and having the same reels would make life simpler. I wouldn't have to guess on how each one is setup and transitioning from one technique to the next would be easier.

My favorite rods are from Loomis but when it comes to fit and finish, Megabass has been the most impressive.

I thought it was dumb and that they were trying too hard but it's their way of having fun and hyping up a reel debut. My guess it's a new Exist LT Air or some other version of this reel. Also, if you are a Daiwa fan (I wasn't able to post a link), check out Daiwa DE's site. They have a downloadable 2022 Daiwa catalog for Denmark but it explains everything that is Daiwa. And I mean everything. It's very cool. Every spec, material, and technology is explained in great detail. Not all US reels are listed but it's a wealth of info.

I had several small screwdrivers from them I just threw in the trash. They were the reason I bought this set. They were junk. They either chewed up screws or the tips were so bad they had fallen apart and were useless. I have tons of tools from them, especially the Pittsburgh stuff, and no issues but these small screwdrivers were awful. A lot of stuff from them is .... you get what you pay for type tools. When it comes to reels though, you have to have a good bite on screws and parts. If you don't, you could have a reel waiting to be put back together.

I work on my reels and a few for a couple guys I know. I found this set from Klein Tools and it's been a big help. I always have a few reels that have odd screws. I have other tools I have used but this thing has been the best $30 I have spent in awhile. I have used this too to work on my Mac and other weird things. Here is a Pic of my Daiwa Steez CT frame that I just worked on. It would have been impossible without it.

If I have to choose between the two, then Tatsu but I would buy a regular leader material like Seaguar Gold Label or Sunline FC leader (not used it).

What lures are you throwing on each? What type of water conditions? What rod and reel models are you using on each one? Also, based on weights you probably are looking at two different lines.

Another Tatual model....

I have both. The Curado DC is good situational reel for fishing lures that are hard to cast to begin with and for casting into the wind. Other than that, it's just a regular Curado. The Bantam though is a much better all around reel. It may not cast as far as the DC but its built way better. If it was me, the Bantam would be my choice.

I have been thinking of doing this to my Hobie PA14. I saw one with a full padding kit and it looked cool. I am still in the process of getting it just they way I want it for tournament fishing. This may be a good project for next year.

My buddy's boat had an issue when he got it. One of the batteries kept draining but the other two were fine. We thought it was the trolling motor battery but it wasn't. It was the one running his electronics. It was showing low voltage. He took it back to the place he got it and it ended up being the wiring. The gauge they used was too small.

I would definitely look at the Victory from St. Croix. I would also agree that St. Croix missed the mark on the new Bass X. The first version was better. The new one is a dog. I don't think it's worth the money they are asking. I've seen better rods for $60. Sounds crazy but pick up one of the spinning rods and look at the real seat and you end up scratching your head. I like St.Croix rods but this one left me asking why.

Line can be a personal thing. Everyone has their own opinions on them. My favorite FC is Tatsu. I have yet to find it's equal. I have fished a spool of it for four seasons on one of my main setups. Just phenomenal line but pricey. If you can use it for as long as I did, it's worth it. For mono, Sunline Deifer. I would say the same thing about it as I did with Tatsu, except it's mono.

I went ahead and ordered one. I hope it's as good as I think it will be. Oddly enough I found some info on it and it turns out that this reel is used for squid ?.

I use the Roboworm version on a shaky head in about 10-15 feet. It has been pretty good for me but not much better than any of the other great colors from them.

Good stuff. I don't mind the wind but my fishing buddy fishes so close to the bank that it can be difficult to get quality casts in. I prefer to fish into the wind if it's 10-15 mph. It's easier to deal with than getting blown around. Having good skill with a trolling motor is a plus. On the kayak though, high winds can be dangerous. Planning each fishing spot and each cast for the matter is a challenge. Landing fish and getting them to the kayak without getting smashed on rocks or somebody's dock is another problem.
