  1. If you don't see them actively feeding in that shallow water they will be near impossible to catch. If you see mud stirring up under them or their tail in on the surface of the water this is a good sign they are feeding, much more likely to take a bait, if they are just swimming around they are not feeding and become very difficult to catch. Thats why I fish for them deeper, don't get angry at fish that I see and wont take my bait. If you fly fish for them you could intice them with a leech pattern, but even then it's not easy if they aren't feeding.
  2. From everything I have seen and heard it is cheaper to go with a non fishing kayak and make it a fishing kayak. The rod holder on fishing kayaks are cheap, and make the yak itself cost 100 bucks more, you can very easily buy rod holders for a fair price and put them on, up to you though, just depends on if you want a ready to fish kayak or one that you will have to put a few hours into before its want you want exactly.
  3. I have only caught 2 on the fly, but they are by far my favorite fish to catch on it. Nice catch man
  4. I know this is a couple days late but where did you get your topo maps? I can't find any for local lakes.
  5. Cool, I've fished right below the dam for carp, done well. Tried for bass, had a nice one, but lost him, to many snags right there to be worth fishing it much.
  6. Fisher o men Yeah I little bit
  7. How is Chartiers creek? Never fished it, I just didn't know how good it was.
  8. Brake is good I think, I think it's just timing coming from 10 years of spinning and probably not a full follow through.
  9. Weren't missing much when it came to the mon the last month, rain had it several feet up and brown all of june, brought it back just in time, river looks good now.
  10. Fair enough, buddy and me will be trying from the shore this fall. Guessing you hit the mon up then. Finally been down enough to fish it after a month.
  11. Is steap and cheap reliable? I saw online they were fakes, I didn't think so, but I decided to wait for another sale to be sure.
  12. There is pretty much every fish that you could think of in the river but catching any of them is a true task. It's a medium heavy but I would say it's on the lighter side of most medium heavies that's why I think the 3/8 is ok, like I said though it could be a 1/2 not to sure. I do follow through, still go to the left, unless I am casting to my left I can get it close to where I want. Going straight in front of me or to my left it's off.
  13. I like how young guys can't have an old rod, my first rod and reel combo was a browning, caught me my first bass and a ton since. It is 10 plus years old now and I have since quit fishing with it, really don't want to break it, I think I would cry. It has a spot in my heart forever, as well as the jitterbug that I caught my first bass on that is sailing around Lake Arthur, although I like to think some younger kid found it and caught his first bass on it as well.
  14. I'd be really interested to see how pros would do without it, would change the game for sure.
