  1. fishandsave.com Fair warning the C&M ones mainly the 1/2 oz ones the finish wasn't good on the heads. The Brawley brand have been awesome. Still great buys even having to repaint the large C&M jig heads if you want. I have just as good luck with them beat up. Guess the fish aren't worried or don't mind about a lead colored jighead. And if I get hung up I didn't lose $5 haha
  2. Nice looking grip WPCfishing. I like cork myself but I'm not entering my rod in a show so I am not the anal type about the exact cork appearance. My rods are for catching fish and they will get used/dirty. Eva is OK I have one but its not a favorite of mine.
  3. I ordered a few pieces... Well they were cheap and I figured I could use a few more.
  4. I would be very interested in that if it wasn't for the 1519 mile gap between us.
  5. I understand I'm not getting the bigger badder boat. But I have small lakes that have no boat ramps. Not to mention many other small private lakes with no boat ramps. I want a boat I can shove off into the crud off in the nasty where others aren't able or won't go. This is why a small motor and smaller boat with preferably aluminum hull is wanted. Also I have used and worn out. I want new with warranty hopefully I can be fishing instead of working on the boat. And I did look at a pro team 160 and that boat was narrow as heck. I want a wide hull not sure if all pro teams are so narrow. I don't see the width specs on trackers site.
  6. We already have a large boat but we want one we can drop into the small no boat ramp fishing holes. Maybe but I know where one 1648 Grizzly left over is that is $2434.00. Trailer is $1245 So I'm at $3679. Still no motor or seats etc . You may be right motor may be pushing me over my price if I dont find a deal somewhere. Thanks but I want a new boat I do not want to do all the work to rebuild my stuff as I want a wider hull. I dont think I am way over I know where a 1648 Grizzly is left over 2014' that is $2434.00. Trailer is $1245 So I'm at $3679. The motor may be pushing me over my price if I don't find a deal somewhere. Don't think I am way over budget. I am not stuck on the Grizzly I actually wanted opinions of other brands that may be good boats but are more reasonably priced. Like I said I am not up on all the models/brands that is why I asked here what others may know that may help.
  7. Me and one of my fishing buddies have been tossing around the idea of a new boat. Im currently using a 1436 Seaking 1972 model. I was considering making platforms for it and upgrading the motor. It needs a new floor as well. And no matter what I do it wont get wider. The more I think about it I just want to fish. I know it would be a little cheaper to fix the things as I am capable of all the upgrades I just really want to start new. So with that being said I have looked at basspro and the TRACKER GRIZZLY 1648 MVX We just aren't up on all the models available and what kind of prices we should expect to pay. We were more interested in a package deal one that included a small motor 25HP max 9.5HP minimum. And really irritating to me is there are no d**n seats! Its sort of reminds me of back when they took the bumpers off the trucks and you had to buy a bumper for your truck separate from the dang truck. Who in the world needs a truck with no bumper! So back to my question where can we find a good deal on a boat similar to the one pictured above. Minimum length 14 to maximum 16 ft. size 48" wide prefer wider please, with seats, motor, and a trailer. The max and I mean the maximum total we want to spend is $5000.00 so please don't say well here is one its just $5500. If its going to cost me over $5000.00 including TT&L I'm not interested. I think its possible to do but we just haven't seen the package deal. OK well tell me I'm crazy or point me to the deals I know you guys know where the best buys are.
  8. Favorite color, brand, style, size ? I prefer a dark purple 7" to 10" long flat paddle tail no rattles. Really can't say a certain brand as long as they make one as described above.
  9. Thanks it just said, The skirt is made from approximately 55 strands. Didnt say material. I'm gona try some of these and a couple of the others you recommend. Always preferred silicone they seem to hold up better when not being fished. And I haven't ever noticed one getting a noticeable difference in production. But like all of us I'm game to learn something.
  10. What skirts come on these? http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/Dredge-Custom-Brush-Jig-403.htm
  11. Forgive my lack of knowledge what is the or how can you tell the difference in the Terminators original vs newer style? I may want to try your Buick.
  12. Guess you have a point I could get a couple more and sort baits like you described. The quality of the stuff seems plenty good. The metal eyes are nice and they are in expensive. Just don't know about having 3 of these and my main bag. I'm sure I would figure something out.
  13. My last order probably this year if I don't get bit. This all came from FishAndSave. I have never used a Brawley lure that I knew of. Of course I have yet to fish one but I have to say those jigs are a steal at .80 a pop. Really nice skirts and they are a lot closer to where I run mine in length than those really long ones. I'm just guessing but I would say these are about 1/4 past the hook. Others I get usually are about 1/2 inch and I trim to my liking but these I could run just the way I got them and be OK with it. Also I never had a Nichols chatterbox pretty much their version of a chatterbait. They look pretty nice as well. Only 2 disappointments one was the stack jars the bottom 2 were chipped and the Strike King spinner bait skirt was a sticky mess. Appears to be some cheap rubber skirt material. This whole order at my door was $22.86 I figure that is a pretty sweet deal.
  14. OK I admit I went cheap and it cost me. I don't even have 1/2 my soft plastics in this one I got. I have 22 packs some not even full in there and its barely closing. I think I will get the large Browning one looks like many of you have positive experience with it.
  15. Oh man several dozen packs! Well I have never tried these particular ones but thought what the heck. I like trying different stuff. And just about any craw is a good deal for me. Just looking at them don't look to bad I like they are soft (hollow). Still not sure how I want to rig them. Looks like Storm wants to put a jig in them. Have you used any of them? How did you try them? I do most of my plastics T style. If these work out I may look for more. Ill keep you in mind thanks for the consideration.
  16. This started as a question about a Jon boat in a tournament situation vs what I took was against a typical bassboat. I said right off the bat And that is awesome you can win. All I said was the Jon boat was at a disadvantage to a bassboat. Just because you can win doesn't make it the advantageous boat. The fact I don't see professionals dragging Jon boats to a tournament is enough for me that it has little or no advantage as far as a tournament fishing is concerned. Considering the $ they spend for an advantage that supports my theory. I was comparing boat to boat not the angler. I already said I fish from a Jon boat. I don't have a win / loss record because I fish for relaxation and fun. Its not a competition for me, I get nothing out of showing I caught more fish than someone else.
  17. My point exactly. ^^^ I am looking at a general question not limited to a hand selected personal lakes you know like the back of your hand. Also I never said speed was a replacement of skill by any means just a advantage. Its clearly not a disadvantage to be faster (unless you crash ), so it is an advantage be it a small one or not.
  18. If you ever have to deal with Ruger its a great experience. The P95 I bought at a pawn shop it had issues. I called Ruger up and told them I bought it at a pawn shop and it needed help. They were nothing less than awesome. After a few questions to try and resolve the issue without sending the gun in. After no results she promptly game me a RMA # and I sent it in. It was back at my door I think in 2 weeks its been a long time ago. The fee was next to nothing I think like $10.00 Very very nice people. Needless to say thousands of rounds and years later this gun eats any ammo like it loves it. And yes the SR series is a steal at the price point. Very nice guns.
  19. These came in today from Surplus Fishing Tackle. I haven't used Storm soft baits before that I recall. I found it pretty nice they actually include 2 hooks with their baits. That would be something other bait companies could get in on even if it was just a couple. Since I dont live close to any real specialty tackle shops these long tube jigs that came with the 5" tubes are a blessing I can experiment with my baits the way the manufacturer intended a lot quicker. Then I can buy what I like to use later.
  20. Well unless we are hand selecting what lake the weather and any other part of the tourney settings I disagree. As a general tournament question I don't think this was a one lake question. That being said a faster boat gets you fishing quicker all other variables equal. The same can be said about the weather. I own and fish from a Jon boat but if the winds are up a larger more stable boat would be if nothing else safer. Sure you can adjust but while your adjusting the other guy is fishing. I'm not saying you cant fish and do good from a Jon boat like you said the boat isn't the brains behind the operation. However as a over all question, "How well would you do in a Jon boat?" Over numerous lakes and conditions I say look around. I don't see anglers selling their bigger boats to get a Jon boat actually the opposite seems to be the trend. I love my Jon boat I can get in pools and smaller bodies of water that a bigger boat isn't really suited for. And I am all for the small guy kicking big and rich guys tail in the tournaments I am just being realistic. Ask the Pros how many would go against a the field in a Jon boat.
  21. Speed to get to holes first and high wind or rough water days. I am assuming there may be more like live well solutions may be a bit more cumbersome.
  22. I grew up with a Marlin Model 60 today known as "most popular 22 in the world." Although Shimano may be the more popular like the Marlin I doubt that makes it the best. I am only a novice in the baitcast world but I have grown to like my Lews. Its a reel for goodness sakes yeah some things are better or worse but if you like it isn't that all that matters. I look at it sort of like baits if I don't have confidence in my equipment it can reflect the outcome.
  23. Since the question is, How Well Would You Do? In A Jon Boat? I would say I'm not gonna be a favorite. This would be me before during and after the tournament. -->> Its pretty much a given the Jon boat guy is at a disadvantage. How much is based on other factors some mentioned already size and how well known the hot spots are etc.
  24. Here is a few I am not at liberty to divulge my entire collection. Starting from the top down: That .22 Glenfield is my first childhood gun that actually used gunpowder. Stephens 520 12Ga. old as the hills but craftsmanship like the best ever RIP John Browning. I do love this gun, this was made when precision was normal day to day work. Mossberg Maverick 12 Ga. I bought on a spur of the moment on sale at Dicks for like $130.00 I think. Its like well I can throw this one in my truck and I don't really worry if its scratched. Ruger P95 9mm just a sweet smooth gun to play with. Shoots way better than 99% of the population can aim. Very durable shoots any load cheap to high quality no issues. Sometimes kept in a vehicle if I'm traveling. Ruger SR45 just couldn't pass up a quality gun at such a low price point. Its usually at my bedside one in the pipe on guard. No one here but me and my small dog so no kids to worry about.
