  1. I agree with you 100%. I tried the EWG stuff and on a 5/0 or larger the window opens up for decent chances of hooking up. But the small ones are pitiful. Once the ones I already own are gone I won't buy anymore EWG style hooks. That was one innovation that the industry sold that anyone that stops and thinks about it would have to say that is not going to be really helpful in me landing fish. They look purdy when you rig it especially skin hooked but they aren't highly productive when compared to offset or straight shank.
  2. Black/Red Shad Grape Green Pumpkin
  3. OK I didnt know if they had some in store deal going on. Thx
  4. Option A and B that A-Jay provided cures the issue 100%.
  5. What are the new ones going for at BPS?
  6. I also agree with having it checked out. I would be very cautious as that is a long time to sit. If all checks out good though seems like a heck of a nice boat.
  7. ^^^ Agreed I wouldn't have thought there was another answer. I like my trolling motor to stay where I bolted it down.
  8. Yeah I suppose. I just don't see these stopping anyone that really wants in there either though. Like most all locks they are a deterrent keeping meddling kids and opportunist from a free easy grab and go. I'm sure they may prevent a jerk or two better than the ones that bust right open though. I just wanted to be able to stop and eat without wondering the whole time if my rods were leaving without me.
  9. Pit Boss 28 vs D Bomb 21 Colors Pit Boss 8 pack vs D Bomb 6 pack Pit Boss avg price $3 pack vs D Bomb $4 pack Winner Pit Boss - 7 more colors, 2 more per pack, and generally $1 a pack cheaper. And D Bomb not nearly as available.
  10. That is new to me with the rubber band. I have seen where a single hook (not a treble) was re-placed on the rear that was just long enough that it wouldn't catch on the back of the bait. I cant find the post and I am not positive of who said (I think it was Bluebasser86) to remove the back hook and up size the front and I haven't tried it yet but the claim was they were caught on the front hook almost always anyway. Don't quote me on that but that is the way I remember it.
  11. I agree there is the entire lake to find, "an interesting point to focus on momentarily" besides bringing a buzzing video camera into a space anonymously without asking that a person if they minded the intrusion. No one brought a shotgun to where the drone was. Remember the drone made the first move. Intruding with no care for how the person on the receiving end felt and the drone did it anonymously. So how was it that the intruder should be contacted and asked to leave them alone? If you want respect first show some by A. either asking in person politely if its a problem BEFORE intruding on someones nature time or B. Don't go there, go find your own place to fly where others are not. Exactly if its passing through and keeps moving and doesn't return fine. But to stop while someone is trying to fish and enjoy the peace and quiet or what ever it is that they are doing.... The owner should have thought about asking in person if I mind maybe a different outcome. Just remember I didn't intrude on you drone guy, you came to intruded on me. There is a whole freaking lake to find a "interesting point to focus on momentarily".
  12. I have a couple of the first gen Mojo Bass rods and find it amusing how they are talked about as if they are horrible. Mine still fish just fine no breaks no failure of any kind. True they are not the latest or even the next to the latest greatest innovations in fishing rods. But considering these rods were designed over 8 years ago and the speed of technology over the past 8 years I would say they were quite a step up from what was then available on the market as a value-priced bass rod. For those of us who want a better rod than 98% of what Walmart sells without spending a lot of cash these were a step in the right direction. I'm not saying they are perfect, not even going to try and imply they are great. Just stating considering the 8+yr old design they were/are quite a decent rod. There are a whole lot of worse rods out there. Just have to decide if the glass is 1/2 full or 1/2 empty. As far as the new Gen 2 version I'm glad they are looking promising. I will be hoping to get a couple of new rods in the near future maybe Mojo Bass rods.
  13. Sure you can take a 8.X:1 and slow it to a 5:1 as well. Some issues are the reel loses torque by nature of the gearing. As stated the cadence or speed will have to be taken care of by the angler. In other words he will have to make the concerned effort not to get to BSing, watching the birds, looking for that next spot to cast, etc and start reeling to fast out of habit. Or just forget he is using a higher speed reel than the bait really calls for the entire time using that setup.
  14. worms - 3/0 or 4/0 or 5/0 offset worm hook T-style rigged depending on worm size baby brush hog - 2/0 or 3/0 offset worm hook T-style rigged pit boss - T-style rigged 4/0 offset worm hook or flippin style strait shank hook depending lizard - 4/0 offset worm hook or use a flippin style strait shank hook on large lizards senko - 3/0 or 4/0 offset worm hook T-style rigged
  15. These H2O ones are very nice colors and seem to be pretty strong. My only complaint with them is the rear hook getting caught on top of the tail section. I was helped with a fix by a member here. Remove rear treble and upsize the front treble one size. I ordered these when they were $2.99 each a few days ago.
  16. I just purchased a 18ft Aluminum boat about 3 weeks ago. I have had 3 grown men on it and I will say fishing 2 is really all it needs to be real comfortable fishing. I mean 3 or 4 can fish but bass fishing once you start catching them, well its just better to only have 1 other body to work with. I noticed you mentioned you would need a aluminum boat. I can say my 1/2 ton truck pulls mine like its not even there. Unless I hit a bump its easy to forget it is back there. But for me it wasn't the weight as much as I saw beautiful bass boats for sale extremely cheap on C list and on the web and all seemed to be because of transom or deck rot. I just didn't ever want to have that in the back of my mind. I'm pretty good at maintenance but with my luck my motor would be in the bottom of the lake in 3 years or less. As far as cost goes or surprises. It started with the taxes when transferring the title and I just dropped $40 on 2 Perko cams for my boat today. They are extremely proud of that little metal arm. But its like they say Bust Out Another Thousand. As others have said research and more research but keep notes and have a plan.
  17. ^^^ agreed As others are saying there are many reasons I use Pit Boss. Just a few are At least 28 colors to chose from Cost ($1.83 - $2.62 right now at http://www.berkley-fishing.com/ ) Availability from Walmart to just about any tackle supplier As ww2farmer just said, "They just work" Easily shortened to make great trailers out of Can be T-rigged and fished as is Awesome flip n pitch bait The plastic itself is quite durable yet soft. The appendages aren't so long they wrap up on stuff easily but give good action One thing I have gotten away from the EWG style hooks. I have a much better hook up ratio with the 4/0 offset worm hooks like these. Or use a flippin style hook. I rig it pretty much like the old days T-style before they ever had a EWG hook. It just leaves a much wider area for that hook point to be unobstructed. There is plenty of plastic to hold the tip of that hook out of things that will snag ya but yet soft enough the hook easily comes through on a strike.
  18. Id like to take a look at it as well if you dont mind. I might try keeping a log if I had a way that was not a PITA.
  19. The maximum safe operating range of the Co-Pilot, Talon, i-Pilot and i-Pilot Link remotes is 30 ft. Wow surprised me only 30ft. That isnt far.
  20. ROFL I thought the exact same thing!!! I was OMG no way in heck could I keep up with this guy. Oh to the original question. I dont keep count.
  21. Sorry for you having to let her go. But sometimes we have to do things like that. I sold a 76' Corvette and used a small portion to buy my boat. I see my old vette occasionally and she sure looks nice but I didn't drive her hardly ever and the 20yr old fella that bought it is in prime wife hunting age.
  22. Sorry to hear of your not such a great start. But hey the positive it has to get better. I'm not sure I would have left my first spot so quick either. if they wanted to physically interfere with my fishing OK we have a problem. Someone being close hasn't really bothered me. I'm concentrating on my game at hand and that is to catch fish to win a tournament. I just wouldn't do that to someone as I see it as rude. Well being fairly new to boat ownership myself my 4th time on the water I met the game warden. Did all the usual checks my numbers are very clear on my boat and new stickers were applied etc. He did the usual flotation check and he asked for the owner (three of us on the boat) I said me and he asked for the "title". I assumed he meant the card that I was given when I transferred the title of the boat it says, Certificate Of Number For A Vessel ? He took it and handed it back and we were on our way. I did not find this unusual as when I bought the boat and paid for the title transfer the lady instructed me to exactly what it says on the Owner Instructions on the back of the "title". I haven't got my actual titles back yet for the motor, boat, or the trailer. Is this Certificate Of Number For A Vessel a Texas thing? Here is a pic of the back of it.
  23. FYI Berkley had many colors of these on sale for $1.83 - $2.62 a package on their website and the Papa Pit Boss 5" version.
  24. I am pretty sure we are past that. It has kinda got out past any control of the NFL that these medical things can and do exist. I believe it was earlier this year the NFL even admitted as much to the media. Its no secret any more.
