  1. That is about what I do. A dark, a light, and a chartreuse with a blue or black back.
  2. Welcome
  3. Sort of a rundown of what I use. But I do change it up pretty often as necessary/dictated by the fish. 0-2ft Mann's 1 Minus, Bandit Footloose 2-4ft Bomber Model 2A, and various others. 4-8ft Bandit 200, Rapala DT04, DT06, 10-12ft Bandit 250, Rapala DT10 I also through a Rat-l-trap, H2O LCR, or a Sebile lipless and let it sink to my desired depth.
  4. It is rough until you get a system figured out that works for you. I use fairly small split ring pliers and my fat fingers. Occasionally I still get stuck but it's not bad at all maybe once every 3rd or 4th hook I change. I wear bifocals as well so I'm pretty blind. Just go slow, it helps me to not get stuck. The more you do it the easier it gets. One thing that kind of amazed me was a video of them making rattle traps. The ladies were snapping hooks on as if it was nothing. But they do 1000s so they have perfected it.
  5. I'm not a big chatterbait person I like my spinner baits but I do use chatterbaits on occasion. Not all of mine but most are Zman brand. I have had no problems with them. They are available most anywhere and reasonably priced. For the life of me I don't know how some of you think Zman has bad hooks. The ones I have come with Mustad UltraPoint hooks that have no issues at all with being way above the sharp necessary to hook a fish. It's like arguing Gillete is sharper than Schick. Either one is more than sharp enough to accomplish the job.
  6. ^^^ This If the Sassy Stick isn't a d**n near match in action ya need to have your fisherman card pulled. Excellent substitute for the Senko. Also supporting the very forums your using with a sponsor is never a bad idea.
  7. Learning other hook uses is no different than lures, rods, reels, or just about any other fishing tools. It's nice to have more tools in your arsenal. Especially if you can make them work for you. I am not a fan of the EWG but in certain baits they are sometimes the better fit. Really thick baits seem to work better than a conventional style hook. Smaller soft plastics like a 7.5" worm the offset worm hooks do much better and a standard strait shank has the best hookups for me. I also set my hooks like Scaleface just said and have what I feel is a good hookup %. Just one other note if your using Zman baits the EWG can have even worse performance. The plastic being so elastic can keep the hook point from exposing. It is the side of the hook that has to push out of the bait with a EWG and it isn't sharp. So be extremely careful to only skin hook the bare minimum so it can come out as easy as possible. A big thick or deep skin hook will be hard to get the hook point out. The straight shank hook rigged the old school way the point of the hook leads the way out so it's works great. This is just my experience others may have different experience.
  8. I have some nice knives but carry a Husky folding box knife. They are less than $10 so if I lose it and I have lost some nice knives it's no big deal if I lose this one. Also I don't have to sharpen blades and I don't enjoy doing that so that was a great feature.
  9. I have used a heatgun and slowly peeled for hours and it was a PITA. Just googling maybe you need a Whizzy Wheel. http://decalstickerremover.com/
  10. I ordered the 7.5" Zman worms .99 for 5 pack. That Pumpkinseed has worked well for me and it's discontinued according to Zman.
  11. I'm waiting on them to get the 5/16 in blood red to make my order
  12. Haha I wasn't going to exactly explain that one excellent use of nonslip pads. So what Ranger is saying is its customers are accident prone? Or it's customers don't have enough sense to use the cavitation plate?
  13. Hey fellas go back about 8 posts ago and you can see the OP replied with his purchase.
  14. I just warn about the seafoam. I put some in mine almost 2 weeks ago. After a week I have had some issues with it throwing small fits like it's caughing. I want to think it's the junk the seafoam broke loose getting blown out. But I have no idea if that is what is happening. It is the only thing different I have done to it though. Last trip was better much less fits. Just a note of caution.
  15. There is one pool we named perch pool because of the large size and number of perch. We ran out of worms and caught grasshoppers. When we got tired of chasing grasshoppers I tried a small tube on a 1/8oz jig and never missed a beat. But worms are the irresistible meal here.
  16. Worms are a year round bait for me. And yeah the 7.5" size are great producers and will catch large and small alike. There is a great deal on the Zman 7.5" ones at outlet bait and tackle. .99 a pack of 5. The Pumpkinseed color has been killing it for me all year.
  17. Maybe I missed it somewhere but have you asked for assistance here in the forums to try and work out the issue? All my Lew's reels have been great. The one I thought I had a issue with was not the reel. It was me the operator. If you haven't asked for assistance maybe explain what rod you have it on, the baits your throwing, the conditions windy etc., what its doing or not doing correctly and possibly someone could help.
  18. I am interested to know that one myself. My SeaArk has the pads with nonslip on them.
  19. I will say the Tournament MB and the reasons are not what some may say like, "there is only Shimanos or Daiwas". Responses like that are not fact based. Those are fan based opinions. Here are the facts. Tournament MB is lighter, has a stronger drag, and a slightly smaller over all size. So considering they both can be had for virtually the same $, both are very reputable companies, and both are very popular tried and true models the facts in the description or specs are pretty much what I have to base my decision on when purchasing. And yes I own both and both do the job so neither one is a bad choice.
  20. No No Mono works just fine its been used for fishing for as long as any current fishing line produced. Yes copoly, braid, and fluro all have some better qualities for certain particular situations but there is no reason you cant fish with mono on jig heads or senko baits.
  21. Got to love those ones where you never hear it hit water. That moment you realize it should have landed like 10 seconds ago.
  22. My personal first choice is a Lew's Tournament MB you should be able to find this reel for just under $110 on eBay. Or the Tatula as a second option since they are heavier, less drag, and have that audible t-wing clunk. Either of those are solid reels. Then you have the Bass Pro Qualifier as a 3rd option that is even heavier and has less drag but it still a very capable aluminum framed reel. It can almost always be found under $100.
  23. Seems like a good deal cant hardly buy any truck with all the fender still on it running and driving for $3500. Hell I probably would have bought it as well if it was undervalue as it appears. I would have turned it though to get what I wanted. I feel the same way about Fords never one of my top picks. My grandfather was a mechanic and retired from Ford and loved them. It was all he ever had and what I learned to drive feeding the cattle. That 300 inline 6 cylinder was a beast of a motor when it came to reliability. Now days I have completely removed Ford as a brand I would support (buying new) since they decided to fund a racist hate group.
  24. This is correct^^^ I'm about 1 hr drive from Lake Fork there the only big difference is the slot limits on this lake. But as far as fishing if you are willing and can get there go get after them.
