  1. Just how long ago was it when you guys had to quit fishing? I mean it hasn't got cold here but one weekend so far. It won't freeze here and stop fishing either way for me. But sounds like you guys haven't fished in 2 or 3 months? Has it really been that long.
  2. Heck with waiting it's 70+ degrees here guess I'm gonna go this Saturday if work doesn't interfere.
  3. You nailed it for me these three do the best damage for me.
  4. I fish them all, Mann's and Culprit just happen to be my preference. I have no argument to say they are better other than I like them and the fish like them. Worm fishing is like just about like any other style. If you don't know what your doing, like a poor presentation your success or lack of will reflect that. Have to fish where the fish are and in a manner the fish are interested enough to bite.
  5. Maffia boxes I hear are the toughest. I don't own any as the price is stupid imho but if you want strong they are stout.
  6. Picked up a few of these I hadn't used Pork in 30 years but I hear some swearing by it in the winter especially. They should be nice on my Siebert Jigs I ordered.
  7. All the above and the Mann's 8" Jelly worm is a great all around size. I almost always t rig with generally 3/8 bullet weight. I like the grape and motor oil colors. My favorite way to fish. ?
  8. I should have specified I for some reason thought the OPs question was concerning buzzbaits only. I concur with Catt except no trailer hooks for me even on a spinnerbait period.
  9. What brand? Maybe a selling point? Maybe not if its that tough might stop up the sewer. Entertaining story though.
  10. I never even heard of a trailer hook for these baits till a few years ago. I tried it for a few outings wasn't for me I'll never use them again that I can see. Trailers I'm like Raul there too. I might have used a plastic trailer a handful of times over the years but never saw a reason to go back to it. As A-Jay shared this topic has been discussed numerous times and I am sure there are tons of opinions and info in some of those threads.
  11. Wish my closest one wasnt an hour drive as well.
  12. True but some teams suck for many years 8-8 style and eventually simi luck into a 4th rnd QB that just happens to work with a O line that had been slowly built. Toss in a excellent RB and even with a coach no one ever gave credit to and a owner / GM that has pretty much left the rails if he was ever on them and you can right a ship. It takes a lot more than a coach and even just going from a **** coach to a good coach doesn't always make for a winning team. Especially overnight. Dallas was not built this past season by any means. Man it is almost embarrassing that the Patriots own the AFC so much. Sure wish the Raiders had come through. I heard they canned his brother Rob as well.
  13. I only use the one bait from them. Might throw a green pumpkin in there once in a while.
  14. I've used older line so I don't want to sound hypocritical but line is relatively cheap compared to a lot of fishing equipment. Since your asking your obviously not 100% confident it's good to go. And no one here can say for sure 5 to 10 yr old line is good. So what are you going to think when you have your PB break off? Maybe something like, "Man I should have got new line". Just my opinion I'd buy new line but I've been wrong before.
  15. That can be said and has been said about any sponsorship. If the sponsor is paying enough they can do no wrong. Happens every day all the way to the top of politics. This was and is my concern with YouTube folks that go from down to earth honest discussions / reviews of products to making it a business taking sponsorship money and want to claim how they are still straight shooters while piling the sponsor bucks and gear in their truck. Hence as you say, "when it comes to money I guess God can forgive <insert name here> for spreading some small "white lies"." The facts and reality tell anyone with a brain how quickly loyalty changes when you introduce enough $. Give me enough $ I might not divulge a reel is slightly inferior as I smile and fish with the free supply of tackle the sponsor provided. I won't lie about it but that doesn't mean I have to tell you its better or worse than product A.
  16. I did score a few more baits Christmas Day from family. A Spro Fat John 60 in Citrus Shad color. A Bandit 100 in Chartreuse w/ Blue back. And a Rapala F-7 in Gold Fluorescent red color.
  17. Never used one of these RES never owned one either. I have seen in the bait shop though. Never used one and don't see using one in my future. Never used a Whopper Plopper never owned one either. I have seen in the bait shop though.
  18. I have a couple of the Plano FTO Elite Spinnerbait boxes. I have 1/2 oz size baits in this one and it doesn't hurt the lure. Not sure on bigger size baits how it would do as this seems like the max I would want to try. It does use the pressure of the wire to hold them in place. I am not 100% satisfied with the result though. I find times when the skirts do get pinched under a neighboring bait. Other times they just seem to not be easily inserted into the slots. This seems to be a issue with baits that have a really full skirt not the thinner skirt versions. Maybe if you only used 3/8 oz or there about sizes it might be awesome. I have several extras of the boxes as the OP modified I may try cutting one as he did. Thanks for the idea.
  19. When you start breaking rods down into technique specific rods then the differences can be seen. In this case the two specific rods in question are very similar in what you need them to do. So like Catt and others sometimes use the same rod. If you compare what makes a specific "Pitching rod" vs what makes a specific "Jig rod" there really is not a big difference. Pitchin rods - Generally these rods are fairly long, roughly 7' 6" in length and have a heavy action with little parabolic bend. You want the tip to have a little give to it, for pitching accuracy. The lure rating generally fall somewhere into 1/4 to 1 1/2 oz. range. Its not uncommon for these rods to be referred to as a "broom stick". Jig rods - Generally are a very sensitive rod with a fast tip. The rod needs to have a lot of power to pull out big fish, while having enough of a tip to pitch or roll cast the jig accurately. These rods are lighter and will have some parabolic bend to them generally not as much as a pitchin rod. Todays standard is generally more closer to the 7' range, heavy action, with a fast tip but some prefer longer. The lure rating generally fall somewhere into 1/4 to 1 oz. range. So you can see these rods are pretty similar. They overlap in many areas. The length of a pitchin rod is generally slightly longer, has less parabolic bend, and the lure weight is slightly heavier in most cases. So considering all the different anglers personal preference in feel, along with the variances in rods from brand to brand along with what anglers perceive to be the "right" way to do things its not unheard of for someone to see them as the same rod. All of this does not take into account how nasty of stuff your Pitchin into or your jig size. If you're fishing a really nasty slop where its not uncommon to pull out as much grass as the fish weighs and you're doing it with a 1 oz or more bait, looking for bigger fish, hooking 5+ lb mommas it will become more evident how less effective the Jig rod is. And you can say the same for the reverse. It would suck really bad casting a true Pitchin rod with a 1/4 oz jig all day.
  20. It varies. I don't see any one perfect answer. As has already been mentioned there are so many different situations and styles of fishing its really a personal preference. Myself most of my bank fishing is done within a close proximity of my truck. So 4 or 5 rods is not uncommon. Generally have a Jig, Spinnerbait, Crankbait, and Plastics/Worm rods are common setups I take. I might even have a extra Plastics/Worm rod with me as I fish a lot of plastics and its nice to have a whole other setup to vary while trying to find what they want. If it's a good time or place to do frog hunting I will usually swap it out with the extra Plastics/Worm rod. Bank fishing I can't remember ever taking more than 5. I know the places I go pretty much so I can load up with a pretty accurate assessment of baits and rods to take.
  21. As far as fishing stuff my daughter got me a Strike King 6XD in sexy shad, a BassPro bottle of reel oil, Berkley gloves, some Mann's 9" motor oil colored Jelly Worms, and a pack of Strike King Rage Craws in Junebug color. She said there was some still coming that they were on backorder. I got myself a few Siebert Outdoors jigs ordered. Also just a few days ago got myself a new H2O rod.
  22. My boat doesn't need carpet yet but I have thought about the same thing when that time comes. I have seen that stuff used in a plant I worked at or something similar. It was durable but this stuff was textured to keep slips from happening. That texture was pretty course. Maybe they have some finer grit ? I just don't want that commercial stuff I saw in the plant. So far I still like that small amount of cushion carpet gives. The times I get down on my deck to lip a fish I really appreciate that carpet. Yes I hate trying to clean the carpet, and that occasional crankbait treble that ends up in the carpet is irritating too. But I think its worth it to have the carpet.
  23. These threads have become comical to say the least. Here are just a few but there are pages more if you use the search feature. And yes the Senko knock-offs are as good if you get them from the forum sponsor BizzBaits.
  24. It was the Jets so although it is a win it was the J E T S
