  1. First fish I caught was with a weightless craw last weekend. I actually went with a double weightless setup. Using the swivel free sliding on my main line and dropping another hook down about 16 inches down from a swivel tied to the end of the main line. Was testing to see what they wanted had a 7.5" worm on the second hook. We landed about 75 fish that day in the light rain and solid clouds. As for the hook i've used grip-pin flipping hook, and a few other lighter wire strait shank hooks with the pin like the one Catt posted. I wouldn't want to say a specific size either without knowing the bait. But generally I throw a 4" bait and a 4/0 hook generally works. Obviously its not set in stone.
  2. I got a problem but mne is before fishing. And that is finding more time to fish.
  3. Kind as in Brand or size. I throw all kinds of brands but Culprit 7.5" and 10" and , Mann's Jelly Worm 9" and 12", Zoom Mag Ol Monster and Ol Monster, and Zman WormZ 7.5" have been my more go to baits. I do at times throw a Zoom U Tail, a Berkley Power Worm, and Yum ribbontail in in various sizes. Lately I use a A741MFC 7' 4" Medium Fast, 1/4 to 3/4 oz Lure, Fenwick Aetos and a A701MHMFC Medium Heavy Mod fast, 1/4 to 1 oz Lure, 7' Fenwick Aetos. I am not a huge fan of really heavy power rods with the exception of a really heavy gauge wire hook like Frogs or a few Jigs. I'm sure others have a different opinion but I know what works for me.
  4. My most popular sizes for worms are 3/8 oz 5/16 oz 1/4 oz Flipping weights I use 1/2 oz 3/4 oz 1 oz I never use any other sizes of tungsten mainly because I do not have to use it (its not law here) and if I need smaller I just use lead. I so far never needed more than a 1 oz.
  5. I just use the thin Plano box I think its 3701. I use Gorilla glue and make the dividers permanent. then I use the shelving material that is kind of rubber like from Walmart and coat the inside of the lid again using Gorilla glue. Mine has been this was for over a season with no issues. None of my hooks or terminal tackle ever mixes. I think I saw this idea posted here or maybe on the internet somewhere.
  6. I don't have a Triton TR185 or a Nitro Z-8 but my SeaArk ZX180 had the 3rd seat as well. I did the same thing. I think I took it out after the first trip out in my boat. Also someone once said that the 3rd seat made it a Crappie boat and I wasn't gonna have that. Guess they didn't know so many boats came with 3 seats. And that the fish couldn't count seats. To me it's much better/safer access to and from the rear deck with it gone. You can still see where the 4 screws marked where the seat was and it's been off for over a year. I just want some nicer seats as well but I won't be plunking $500 on any as I don't sit in my boat as much as I stand.
  7. Shhh some here think there are only 2 reels Daiwa and Shimano. Id like to keep it that way so there is less people buying the reels I want when they go on sale. Congrats again glad you like it.
  8. Thanks for the info. I replied to your PM. Also I had several folks ask for these back when I originally posted this. Since then to my knowledge I am out. I do not have any more of them and If I find any more in my piles of baits Dillon Simpson has requested them and I will send them to him.
  9. I'm pretty sure its a "China" knockoff made lure. They are usually at the very bottom near the name brand ones but very low on the wall. I haven't used a WM one lately but they catch fish like any other Spinnerbait. I have used them and the guy I fish with uses them exclusively and never does anything but take the sticker off the hook. Sure one may roll or a skirt come off but if you look at the ones you're thinking of buying prior to buying it you can usually tell if it's bent. You can also test to see if the swivel spins freely. Sure it won't spin as much as a name brand one but it's pretty obvious if it turns freely. The water does the turning so it doesn't have to be a freaking perfect bearing. And last look at the skirt collar and make sure it's snug. If any of the key points are messed up grab a different one. A few things that make them a little better and don't take long to do or make them cost anywhere near what a name brand one costs. A little superglue under the skirt collar will make them last a little longer. Also a small zip tie or tie with wire before use will also help. You can purchase bulk quality swivels and replace the swivel if you just have to have the bearing. And a few strokes with a rock might sharpen the hook enough to suit the perfectionist. Considering a name brand spinnerbait lure runs roughly $5 and up and you can upgrade these for less than a buck you can have at least 2 of these with quality bearings a skirt that will stay on and a sharp hook for under what 1 name brand one costs. Of course there will the perfectionist that thinks the wire diameter has to be bla, or the skirt material has to be bla, and that is fine. Don't buy a $1 Walmart bait if that is your perception.
  10. Seems like a gimmick to me as well. But that being said it won't matter. The majority of fishermen have their hooks and unless some pro starts winning the bassmaster and other pros follow they won't ever overtake Gammy, Owner, Mustad, Trokar or whatever brand everyone has already went to bed with.
  11. Chrome Blue Back Clown or Nishiki Purple Luminescent Aurora Black Ghost Threadfin Shad I want to try this Gun Metal Shad color just because of the name. But the color looks good too.
  12. I think I have 4 bags of the Fat Ika and not sure I ever put one on my line. I am sure they catch fish heck just about anything will if you put the right action on it in front of a bass. I guess my lazy bait is a 6 to 8 inch ribbon tail worm. Seems the fish eat them almost any time.
  13. I steal Silica Gel Desiccant packs out of other things I order. Like AR parts I get usually have some in the box. Electronics also have them in the boxes sometimes.
  14. Have you cheated on your wife / girlfriend while on tour? He won't have to answer the look on his face will say all the wife / girlfriend will need to know.
  15. Should be a nice reel congrats.
  16. I'm about an hr from there. It's a nice lake was down a little about a month ago when I was there last. A 13#+ was caught out of there the day before I got there so there are still some nice ones there. There were 2 different guide services claimed the bite was great up until the Sunday I was there. That day they were turned off bad according to the guides.
  17. I tried that and It didn't appear to have helped. I still have the one I put lumaflex on so it will still get tried. I just don't see me ripping off good skirts to put lumaflex on. But if you need a skirt I don't think lumaflex is worse.
  18. I'd take any DT for $1.96.
  19. Pretty much my take is the same. I think you have more or less 3 or 4 color spectrums that make a difference to the fish. Most of the super pretty is for humans to entice you to buy or satisfy a personal reason like as a hobby. Every lake I've been on seems the fish kind of have their own likes and dislikes. If you found dark colors work great nonstop then you did good figuring that out.
  20. Im hoping for the 2 C's ... Cowboys n Chiefs
  21. I still use the H&H spinnerbaits when I need a small 3/8 size but for my larger 1/2 oz ones Peppers Custom does the job. I find it funny how things come back around with time. Megastrike Strike Back is basically doing what the original H&H did way back by having the hook free from the wire.
  22. Congrats on the boat. It is a game changer as to how much easier it is to fish from a real boat. No offence to the jon boat guys I have one too but for a lake it's no comparison.
  23. Try the search feature it has lots of threads on these exact reels. They have been beaten to death picked up dusted off and beaten to death again. The Shimano lovers will say Shimano, the Daiwa lovers will say Daiwa, Lews guys will say Lews, Ardent ...Ardent and so on with every brand see my point. All three are proven reels so go to a store that lets you hold them try them on your rods and see if you like how they feel in YOUR hands.
