  1. Did a stop in at Academy and found these on the clearance rack. I couldn't pass up Mann's baby - minus for $2.98 and Xcaliburs for $1.98. The 2 bags of Sapphire Pit Boss I had previously ordered from Gander Mountain and picked them up while was in the area.
  2. I second that. I don't see it going anywhere for a long time. Of course with the propaganda from the elite, the sponsors, and media eventually sure it may subside. And like the ned rig it will make a comeback in 20 years. Anglers will run around touting how great the bite was and if it wasn't for the great T-Rig they wouldn't have caught that tournament winning fish.
  3. Very cool I have plenty as well. d-camarena you can PM me with what you might be looking for or need as far as baits go. I might be able to help some too.
  4. Just slip 3 or so of these in where the hooks come out and adjust to suit adding more or less.
  5. As gulfcaptain said,"Fish what the fish and conditions are telling you." His other points are spot on as well.
  6. Jigs do not always have to be fished jigs like a snail. Sometimes yes, but like all baits it's about how the fish want it. I've had days where the jig would barely hit bottom before it was time to set the hook. Many many variables obviously but I would not throw one just on the premise that it's a boring super slow way to fish. Id suggest a bait casting reel of your choice. I prefer a aluminum frame with a 6 or higher gearing. The rod I like a Medium Heavy Fast or Heavy Fast depending on where (how deep into the cover) I'm fishing. I use Copoly 20lb or Mono 17lb lately. Both are cost effective and I have not had any issues even in some heavy cover.
  7. Extremely nice jigs. You get personal service as seen above with the OPs purchase, beautiful top quality jigs, and super fast service. But what most want is all of the above at a great price and Mike does this at a very reasonable prices.
  8. I agree its not the end of the world but my original point was that it could end up looking like the OPs boat. And the OPs pics would have been a good example to explain what his boat very well could end up looking like.
  9. I believe the ones sitting out at Bass Pro shops are less expensive than these. Its been awhile since I looked. Alumacraft 12' Flat-Bottom Jon Boat $619.99 http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/alumacraft-12-flat-bottom-jon-boat#repChildCatid=161554 Alumacraft 14' Flat-Bottom Jon Boat $739.99 http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/alumacraft-14-flat-bottom-jon-boat#repChildCatid=474104
  10. 40ft yachts normal maintenance schedule would be different, I presume more involved and costly than say a 18ft bass boat. I'm also sure different lakes have different effects on growth. Trying to remember the thread I was thinking of. I think it was a guy trying to save the hassle and or money of taking the boat out and putting it in storage. I don't think, based on what I remember, that there was any chance he owned a yacht and dang sure wasn't going to pay to have it maintained if he wasn't willing to take a bass boat out of the water. For some reason the way I remember the thread he was looking at leaving it year round tied up. Not, "Every fall they get steam cleaned, washed, and waxed." That sir would be maintained not tied up and left year around.
  11. There was a thread a while back where someone was asking about leaving his boat in the water year round. Several tried to explain this is what happens, but several countered that it would be fine. Wish they had seen this, or had to clean one, they might have had a change of opinion.
  12. J.C. Whitney maybe
  13. That is what I was wanting to hear. I'll probably be looking at the slightly shorter swimbait rod as a 7'11" rod is the absolute max length I can get in my rod locker without modification. Back in 2000 they didn't forsee 8ft rods much. LOL May I ask what made the muskie mojo rod bad? Was it poorly made, just the wrong feel to you, or? I had read really good reviews on the new Mojo's.
  14. That reel is a Mark Rose edition ran just for Walmart according to Lew's. I tried to register the warranty online and this specific one was not in the drop down menu so I had to contact Lews to warranty it. Looks as though you now have to type in the model. Funny thing is they never ever had it anywhere on their website and basically didn't want to claim it the way the response was. If I remember correctly it was about a $50 reel. I can only say it's been flawless. Now I don't use it much any more it was one I picked up when I wanted to see if I liked the Lew's fit in my hand while fishing all day, and get a sense of how I liked the reel over all. I never meant for it to be my workhorse. But I have purchased 5 more Lew's reels since I got the good impression from that reel. My only regret is I should have just got the $99 one piece aluminum frame LFS series instead of it. Its the only baitcaster i have that has a plastic frame. Lew's use to make one of if not the best $100 reel imho. Other companies are getting into this price range now bringing better quality at a lower price point. It does look amazing similar to the Hero here. But mine says "Mark Rose Signature Series" where this one says "American Hero". And if I'm not mistaken mine has the vented spool.
  15. I have never owned or used a Dobyns rod and was wondering how the Fury stacked up against the latest Mojo rod. Im also specifically looking at adding a swimbait rod maybe FR 795SB, and another texas rigging rod FR 703C? I see mentioned that these Dobyns run a bit light and St. Croix a bit heavy. If you're use to a Fenwick where do they fall in on the Dobyns? I have a couple of St. Croix Mojo 1st edition. One is a flipping rod so it doesn't relate much and the other was a MH Spinnerbait rod that seemed a little on the heavy side before I made it worse shutting the locker door on the last 3". Anyone use both the Fenwick and the Dobyns? How do the power ratings compare?
  16. I have the same boat and it is great imho. I don't use it on the bigger lakes but for small lakes and large ponds it is awesome. I dont have the inside of mine done up like yours mine is about as factory as it gets. I use a cheap used 30lb thrust TM and it does fine. Everything fits easily in the bed of my truck. I agree with no pedestal seats under the seat storage is great. I store my tackle bag (extremely easy access) under me and usually have a cooler in the center that also doubles as a excellent table, refrig, cup holder, etc. I did upgrade the factory seat using one off of my bigger boat that was a center(3rd) seat. Once I upgrade my other boats seats i'm moving another to the prowler. Did you upgrade these tie down eyes? That is one mod I did to mine. I picked up some really heavy duty ones from Home Depot and used nylon insert nuts to make these really rugged on mine. For some reason mine had really light weight ones. They were just small cheap 1/4" ones made of soft metal. Like something you would see on a clothesline pole heck maybe not even that stout. I didn't trust when pulling the boat up out of the water to load and the boat still had some weight in. My fishing partner and I do the same thing with 4 rods generally each get a side. I did think about getting some rod straps the small bungee cord looking ones and adding that little insurance. It is amazing the payload these Pond Prowler boats can carry and never even feel remotely unstable. Standing is not a issue at all if you want to stand but I also am like you and find it relaxing/easy to kick back and fish sitting. And you're right it's very easy to reach over and lip the fish with no worries of tipping. I am 6ft 250 ish so to just about anyone else it's going to be ok. Personally I wouldn't trade it for a yak. I feel likeyou have much more freedom of movement. Just looking it appears it would be more stable than most average yak, and i'm guessing more payload than an average yak. I couldn't stand to be shoehorned into a yak maybe i'm claustrophobic. I really like that cover especially since you have that nice carpet floor. It looks factory
  17. RAW08-271 from rawoutdoorsinc.com was in a LTB box I believe. 4.5 Inches Long 3/4 oz Slow Sinking
  18. Maybe check this out. I have a older carbureted 2 stroke and did a little fuel educating on myself. This article brings up some good points I didn't know. Considering Ethanol-Free Gas?
  19. The other thread is titled "Show off your Stuff". Stuff can be anything fishing related. My junk wasn't worthy for that thread the way the thread started. Seems it was going to be a dead serious high rollers only. This thread was titled "Show your rod setup" Specifically for rods is the way I read it. And I happened to have had a old pic I knew where it was on the pc. On this thread no panties got in a wad on the first page that I was aware of. Not saying this thread will last any longer or not just that the other thread may not necessarily be the "better" rod thread.
  20. What did you do forget to tie the knot?
  21. Personally I do not buy the "Bulk" baits. To me a craw in one brand vs another is not the same. And this can be said for any creature bait or worm or any soft plastic for that matter. I really like NetBait Paca Craws (big fan actually) but not so much some of their other baits so a $50 pile of their baits may not be but $10 of stuff id actually like/use. Each brand offers different actions, rigging options, feel etc. Ask some of the senko loving guys. There are several other reasons "bulk" to me is not a good idea like the condition of them when you get them? I have seen some YouTube videos and they weren't all packaged with the condition of the bait in mind. The fact you have no clue what colors you get. Sure you get a lot of colors but the colors that turn out productive may or may not be the majority. With my luck it would be the exact opposite I would end up with a lot of a color I detested and a handful of ones I liked. I think you have a decent start of baits already. If you consider the numerous ways each bait can be fished times the number of baits you have you might try them all in about 3 or 4 years fishing every day. But like kickerfish1 said and I agree There are reasons experienced anglers get their certain selections of brands on certain types of baits. Generally it's because they work in their area for them and their style of fishing.
  22. I didn't use epoxy but I did use Gorilla Glue on each of the dividers. They stay in place very good so far. If anyone copies this make sure to understand how Gorilla Glue works. Read the instructions! It wouldn't be nearly as good if you didn't secure the dividers down all the way. I can see small pieces like very small hooks and snaps getting under them. These boxes are semi flexible and need this done to avoid the cracks opening under the dividers if the box is picked up with one hand. I have maybe $8 in the box or less. I had the shelf lining material from another project and the same with the glue. I think the box I gave $5.95 or $6 for and its working on 2 years its been fine. Not one sign of messing up yet. One other thing I did was to add a pack of the Desiccant. I just put it in on top of some hooks I rarely use. Its in the very center of the box in that pic on the left. Its just a little insurance.
  23. Id probably go with something like a Med/Hvy Fast Action rod if I was just generally looking for a jig and worm rod. Its more universal, generally speaking it should be decent with spinnerbaits also. MODEL # HMG70MH-FC Me personally I generally like a Med Fast or X-Fast Action if I was just texas rig worm fishing. Jigs I like a heavier power my jigs use hefty 5/0 hooks and I want to have that ability to set it. Of course different brands are a little different some a Med Hvy is more like a Hvy.
  24. The two on top are older model Crankbait rods and they work great for me. My go to for crankbaits and small swimbaits with trebles. They have landed a heck of a lot of fish and many 5+ lbs with no problems. I do not swing my fish in the boat with the rod though unless obviously small. I really haven't tried to use any really deep diving crankbaits though. Most of my crankbaits are i'm gonna say are less than 15'. And most of the time I play in the less than 6 ft area. So for deep divers I really don't have any opinion but I would think they would be fine. If the newer HMG models are equally as good or better they are a good rod. I just don't know what else in its price range is out there. And I sure don't own any to make a fair comparison.
  25. Almost every bait I have multiples of natural imitation colors. Some I dont have bright colors of would be my jigs other than a ever so slight strand or so in a skirt. Also almost all my plastics like worms and craws are something in the natural tones unless it was in LTB or MTB. But for my spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and just about all my different crankbaits I have different combinations of chartreuse, some with black, blue, brown, green, chrome, and other colors on them. Now that is along with all natural colors in crankbaits as well like your craw, baby bass, bluegill, and perch patterns etc. My spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and chatterbaits are white or white with highlights of purple, blue, yellow, chartreuse, etc. My "natural" colored spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, or chatterbaits are mainly black. I just don't do much with neutral browns, greens, etc. in these style baits.
