  1. Good looking bait that I plan on trying this year. Headed to Gander today to see if they still have a deal on them or not. Thanks.
  2. As a smallie nut that only gets to practice being a smallie nut for a week each year I am up for any Northwoods suggestions. I just love the northwoods of Wisconsin. Live in SE Iowa, we have no smallies to speak of! Like to get away from it all and try to get that 6 pound smallie. When I do, I will get her picture and then gently place her back in the water. I am strictly a CPR fisherman and I know many of you are as well. I have fished Turtle Flambeau and The Gile Flowage. Both fun bodies of water to fish and wondering if my bride of 41 years and I should be trying something else up that way. Thanks for any information you can give me and feel free to send me an email at jmillsp@iowatelecom.net. Thanks again>
  3. I sent him a PM and he has always been so good about getting back to me but wonder if he might be fishin somewhere?? Thanks!
  4. This is just an attempt to try to catch up with you, Kent! Has nothing to do with this post. When you get back, check your PM> thanks so much!!
  5. Bumping this back up for more replies. My favorite crankbait spinning rod got broke this past summer. If I could find one like it, I would buy more than one!! It was a Daiwa Tony Bean Smallmouth rod. Ohhh, I loved that rod!!!! :'(
  6. My thoughts exactly!
  7. As a guy who would rather catch a smallie than any fish that swims, I just got to say WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lets go fishin!
  8. I am enjoying reading some of the new posts on this subject. Makes me want to get out there after them but we are pretty iced up right now in Iowa. I am in the SE corner of Iowa and are smallie population is very small. No one really fishes for them here as there just aren't enough to justify trying. I love smallie fishin. No fish fights harder without ever quitting. Keep the posts coming. Maine is a long way for me to go.
  9. No doubt in my mind. I am with Al Linder on this one. I have only seen one time fishing for crappies that I wished I had minnows instead of a jig. I have outfished many people who were trying to use minnows. They catch 1 and I catch 5.
  10. Spinning, Stradic. Just ordered a new Chronarch 50mg baitcaster.
  11. Wow, impressive RoadWarrior! I have been trying to figure out what new rod to purchase to go with my new Shimano Chronarch 50mg. Which one would you buy? I know it has much to do with the lures being used. Probably the biggest I might throw would be a 1/2 oz but generally will be 1/4 oz or maybe smaller. Those smallies you are holding still look awfully good to me.
  12. Kegman1, yes I have heard of that lake. I think it would be about 3 hours or so from me. Wish it were a little closer. It would be fun to try.
  13. OCbass63, can you send me an email as I would love to talk to you about fishin Wisconsin especially the area you are referring to. jmillsp@iowatelecom.net
  14. Hmmm. might have to wait till next year but appreciate the guidance. When do they start hitting there generally speaking? The largemouth are just starting here. I caught 5 today. Biggest was 17 inches but I had a 20 on. I saw him long enough to wish I hadn't seen him. Using rattletraps and jerkbaits.
