Here's one for you. Out night fishin for bass and this guy wanted to get into the fray. Though I hit some hydrilla so I gave it a tug. Never thought I'd see this. Happened a week later also.
The pond I fish has perch, crappie, sunfish, bass, and slime darts (pickerel). Could have been a monstah slime dart but I doubt it the fight was like a big bass.
That's a nice Larry right there. Congrats on your new PB. I got my new PB a week ago jitterbuggin at night. Didn't get a length on her but she was 6.5#.
I use the 20# 832 in HEAVY cover and have had no problems. One of the ponds I fish you could walk across it the weeds are so thick. You should be fine with the 30# 832.
I can't believe that this is something that we have to worry about. Well yeah I can but.... It happens a lot around here especially during the hard water season. It's exactly why I won't tournament/derby fish anymore. Hope they prosecute him.
So I was out fishing with a friend the other night when either the biggest bass I have ever had on my line or the local beaver hit my jitterbug. I fought the fish for about 6 minutes with back and forth battles. I would get the fish or beaver to with in 10' of the boat and it would start peeling line off my reel drag screaming at me. In the middle of one of the runs the line went slack, I was hoping that it was swimming back at me but when my jitterbug came back empty I knew it got away. I had caught my PB 6.5lbs the week before at the same pond and it didn't fight half as hard as the one that I lost the other night. Now I know it's in there I will spend the rest of the season going after the one that got away. Here is a pic of my PB 6.5lb. Sorry about how hard it is to see.
