my club fishes lakes all over fl, mostly central region.

i've fished 2 tournaments in florida with very little success. the only bites i've gotten have come before 10am. I've been throwing moving baits like buzz toads, lipless cranks, and speed worms. i need help trying to figure out what to throw in the afternoon. it sucks not having any bites for the second half of the day. any suggestions on how to catch em in the afternoon in florida would be most helpful.

i used to use 20lb braid and ewg hooks, now i've switched to 50lb braid and straight shank flipping hooks.

just moved to florida and new to flipping. i fished a tournament last month and had 6 bites while flipping but missed all of them. I've already upgraded to 50lb braid, and using heavy duty flipping hooks tied with a snell knot. the bites i missed were all pretty noticeable. Big hits where the rod would bend over. I would then set the hook as soon as i felt the bite but nothing was there. My question is am I setting the hook too soon. Should I wait for a 2nd tick then set the hook? what other suggestions would you make? thanks guys
