I'd say bass fishing is as good an obsession to pick up as anything else. There's no fish on the planet I'd rather fish for. I've lurked on this forum for quite awhile, it's definitely a great resource. Hopefully your experience with bass fishing will be everything you're expecting it to be. I certainly think it will be.
I used to swear by braid, but I've found that for half the money of what I was spending on Sufix Performance Braid, P-line CXX works just as well.
(Also, cool to see somebody else who fishes Francis Case/Sharpe! I used to live about a half hour away from Francis Case.)
I will second this. I generally use 3/0 EWGs.
Netbait Paca Craws have been my go-to plastics ever since my brother gave me a pack of them. I keep wanting to break out my Senkos, but I never get to them because the Paca Craws work so well. Alabama Craw and Okeechobee Craw have been the two colors that seem to work the best for me.
I haven't owned too many casting reels, but my Chronarch 201e7 has been very good to me so far. I just picked up a Curado I at Cabela's over the weekend, can't wait to see how it compares to the Chronarch.
If I'm not catching anything on a T-rig, the next thing to come out of my tackle box is almost always a spinnerbait. If anything, my crankbaits get neglected.
Not sure on weight, somewhere around 3-3.5 I'd guess. I lost one about 15 minutes before I caught that one that was quite a bit bigger, I got a good look at it when it jumped and it looked to be closer to 5. That one will probably be closer to 7 pounds by the time the season's over.
