  1. I really do owe you…. Man do I feel stupid. Thanks so much. I guess I have $20 worth of spare parts I didn’t need lol. Seriously though, thank you so much. It really looked like it should’ve been the way that I had it though lol. thanks! Steve
  2. Yeah that’s a good call, but here I am…
  3. Hi all, I have an issue with my curado I reel where at the end of a reel turn there is a grinding/clicking type noise. With the reel engaged I can take my thumb and push the spool forwards and backwards. If I pull line, the drag slips even with the drag locked down. It is 1000% not a line slip issue. This started right after I did a reel deep clean , but I’ve taken this reel apart dozens of times and I don’t think I messed that up. My first attempt to resolve the issue was a new anti reverse bearing as I thought that was the source of the grinding and the spool slipping. That is in the reel now and that didn’t work. I have also replaced the metal drag washers and added a few additional parts that did not solve the issue. I honestly have no idea what the issue is, and I’m losing faith in my troubleshooting skills. Does anyone have an idea of what I should look for and/or what part to replace. p.s. One thing I forgot to mention is that i noticed on the reel schematic there is a tiny metal washer that typically goes on the back end of the worm gear tooth that is not there. I almost remember this version not having one but I know my curado 70 and other reels have one. I don’t think that’s the issue but thought I’d mention it. thanks is advance , steve
  4. Just to close the loop, the yoke was like $3 plus shipping and that fixed the reel. Casts as smooth as butter now. Thanks for all the help everyone!
  5. Awesome, thanks! Now if I could just get pure fishing to give me a call back so I can order the parts….
  6. Looks like it is time for a replacement. I have a similar revo stx so I can confirm this is definitely a crack and not a notch from the manufacturer. I hope this is the solution.
  7. Thanks. You might be on to something. Here is a picture of the yoke (part no. 38 on abu schematic) that appears to be cracked. Do you think this is causing the issue?
  8. Part #21 from the schematic above, or for the actual revo mgx schematic? Thanks for the reply. Yes, the thumb bar comes back up on the retrieve. I might pull it apart again. What’s odd is that my casts seem to get better by backing off the brakes completely and leaving the spool tension set as normal.
  9. Hi all, I have an older revo mgx ( I think the mgx2) that I have used quite a bit over the years. I noticed last season that occasionally, it seemed as though the thumb bar would not push down crisply like it always did and on occasion would make a whining or sputtering noise on the cast, which would usually end in a minor backlash. I did my annual reel cleaning hoping to fix the problem, but it actually is much worse. Probably 7 out of 10 casts result in a minor backlash. The thumb bar seems like there is some play in it, and I am having a hard time diagnosing the problem. Any ideas/ suggestions? thanks, Steve
  10. I have been in the “I’m going to buy a boat next year” market for about 3 years now, so you caught my attention with the lower unit comment. So I must ask— does insurance cover that?
  11. Exactly right. That is where the short-term penalty that @CountryboyinDC mentioned comes into play. In the absence of such a penalty I’ve done longer term loans to receive X incentive, and then just paid it off under the terms that I decide on by building an amortization schedule.
  12. Dealers may receive incentives for arranging your loan terms and, to take advantage of the folks that need a specific monthly payment, they can lower the rates while inflating the price by adding profitable items that you may not need/want. But yes, as risk increases, so does the interest rate. This may sound basic, but Interest rates are only as good as the price you are able to secure, and a price is only as good as the interest rate you can lock in. What gets really tricky with different loan terms is that while one might save you interest by paying more up front, what could you have done with that money otherwise? Invest it over the same period of time to achieve a higher rate of return? Would you have done nothing with it? My advice to @pikeman32would be to run a few “what-if” scenarios to see what rates are first, and then figure out what TOTAL PRICE he can or wants to afford, and finally focus on the loan term to figure out his monthly payments. And most importantly, DONT TELL THE DEALER WHAT MONTHLY PAYMENTS YOU CAN AFFORD—YOUR GOAL SHOULD BE TO GET THE TOTAL PRICE AS LOW AS POSSIBLE. Personally, once I am able to secure the best price, I would put as much cash down as I can and get the shortest loan I can reasonably afford.
  13. There was a medical student involved in the exploration, so that may have something to do with it. No need to tell my wife she’s right. She’s always right lol.
  14. Just think of all the hands he had to eat to get that big.
  15. Interesting. The surgeon told me that fish spine would not show up in an X-Ray. I think it has something to do with the fact that they do not show as opaque on x-Ray, plus in my case, were extremely small maybe about 1/4” per spine
  16. Yeah, I’m not well versed in catfish to say one way or another which are venemous or not. Nice gar story. It’s crazy the damage toothy critters can do. Did you just throw her back after she bit you or did you snap a few pics at least? Those tiny bass spines were in my joint and it is was pretty uncomfortable. I can only imagine what a tooth would feel like stuck in a thumb. I can see the respect thing, but I would still prefer not to give the Taliban any credit lol. I think 2010-2011 was the bloodiest time period in Afghanistan. I was in Helmand Province the majority of the time in various FOBs and COBs in the area. It would probably be weird to go back now with so much abandoned or turned over the the ANA and ANP.
  17. That sucks, sorry that happened. I was there in the 11-1 rotation.
  18. I haven’t caught a ton of catfish in my life. I caught a 20+ lb flathead this summer and was like, yeah I’m using my fish grips. They are definitely not to be messed with. Can you imagine noodling for those things?!
  19. Which war? Some things are worth waiting for I guess
  20. That is pretty bizarre. I asked my surgeon post surgery if the spines would have worked their way out eventually and he told me that it’s hard to say. Especially considering that it was not infected, there was nothing to squeeze out, and over a period of 4 months, it only got worse. did the doctor give your son anything for the infection at least??
  21. Neither did my thumb ? Now I’m a 33 year old with the thumb of a 90 year old.
  22. “There ‘e here” ”here we go” if there is fishing footage, there is a lot of grunting involved. 99.9% is completely unnecessary. Not sure why I do it.
  23. That sounds familiar. Was that one of the incidents he had to go the ER for?
  24. Well that’s good news. I am looking forward to this never happening again.
