  1. dodge was a guest on the first season of Lunkerville and was an outstanding guest and all around great guy.
  2. that sounds like an amazing project that will bring you years of pleasure. good luck! i'm jealous.
  3. ;D there's obviously no absolute "right or wrong answer" here, because it's subjective: what you feel most comfortable with works for you... but i believe right handed baitcasters became popular for freshwater fishing because lefty reels weren't available for such a long while. these days, left handed reels are easy to get, and you can see, by the many responses in this thread, that it is the preferred method for righties. case dismissed: there's no good reason to use a right handed retrieve baitcaster if you're a righty, unless that's what you're familiar with. the winch argument isn't a good one for freshwater fishing, unless you have weak hands ;D
  4. Here ya go: By George Welcome Let's get technical, as there are in fact reasons, not just some lame holdover from days past that put the handles where they are. What will move the fish during retrieval is placed to the strong hand! A baitcast is designed to be used as a winch, so it is the reel that retrieves the fish. Hence if you are right handed the handle is in your right hand. A spinning reel is designed to pick up unloaded or loose line, not retrieve the fish. Hence it is the rod that does the retrieval, so it is the rod that is in your strong hand. If you are right handed then the pole goes to the right hand. 8-) yes, i've heard this argument, but to me it only holds water for saltwater fishing, where you really need strength in your hands when reeling. my left hand is more than strong enough to reel/winch a largemouth bass.
  5. me too! i use a left retrieve, but i'm a righty. i'm seeing more and more anglers doing the same. i've brought up the subject many times on my show and on other forums and have yet to hear a good argument as to why a righty should use a right handed retrieve baitcaster. the only arguments i've heard is "that's how i learned" or "that's the only way baitcasters were made back in the day" or "it comes from saltwater fishing, where you need the strength of your right hand to reel" it makes no sense to me to switch hands after a cast, leaving a second or 2 to miss a strike, and controlling the rod with your weak arm.
  6. nice intro stevie and thanks for watching the show! this is one of the best bass fishing sites on the net
  7. i'm a film and video director/producer... i started a production company 15 years ago with a friend from film school... we produce independent feature films and also do a lot of work in the retail apparel industry, producing brand, marketing and training productions for the web and DVD... our company is called rockville creative inc. a few years ago i combined my enthusiasm for bass fishing with my passion for filmmaking to create LUNKERVILLE, the show that features real people and real fish stories... we start shooting our 5th season this month and air on the World Fishing Network. that's me... that's what i do... and i love it!
  8. spectacular!... a terrific interview... ike is very articulate and it's great to see this side of him nicely done!
  9. i really like scott martin's show... it's informative and he has a likable on-camera presence... i've also heard some really nice things about him, specifically how he helps younger fishermen.
  10. welcome man!... there's a bunch of really nice people here.... i think you'll enjoy it
  11. of course... i guess you guys are way ahead of the curve!
  12. who's on facebook?... i feel kinda old for this social networking thing that everyone is getting involved in, but i'm told i need to be on facebook... so we started a Lunkerville page... i'm not exactly sure what that means yet, but if you're a member of faecbook, do a search for LUNKERVILLE TV SHOW and join the group please everybody's doing it... be there or be square. thanks, mike
  13. happy holidays to everyone at bassresource.com!... we have a few guest slots left for 2009, so if you're interested in being on Lunkerville, let me know... if you have some home video to submit, that's a big plus in getting chosen to be on the show. watch Lunkerville only on the World Fishing Network or on the web at lunkerville.com
  14. thanks rand! bow, all you have to do is install the free quicktime plugin: http://www.apple.com/quicktime
  15. Noah "Puffy" Barrow from National Sociographic TV examines why me, Mike D, can be the host of a fishing show when I suck so badly at catching bass. Watch it in the coming week in brilliant HD on WFN, or watch it now on lunkervision! http://rockville.tv/lunkerville/natsocio.html
  16. yes muddy... you're absolutely on target with that idea... i almost did a show this season which a guy who tricked out his own jon, but the scheduling didn't work out. this will definitely be a priority for next season. and with that said, if anyone has home video of a project, even if it's just one or two tips, please submit it to Lunkerville!
  17. the episode is called "Bass in the City". here's a direct link: http://www.rockville.tv/lunkerville/bassinthecity.html
  18. New York Post Reporter Mackenzie Dawson and I go fishing in Central Park. Mackenzie isn't so sure anything lives in the New York City pond, especially after we hook into a women's handbag, but I am intent to prove her wrong. I also take a trip to Prospect Park, Brooklyn where I meet up with Lunkerville.com member DaReelJLo for more New York City bass fishing. watch the show here: http://www.lunkerville.com/watchshow.html read the NY Post article here: http://www.nypost.com/seven/06012007/entertainment/a_fish_out_of_water_entertainment_mackenzie_dawson.htm And for those who get WFN on DISH or Verizon FiOS, look for the show to air repeatedly over the next 2 weeks. ENJOY THE SHOW!
  19. check it out in High Definition next week on WFN, or watch it in Lunkervision NOW! "Hollywood" Kenny C represents the GIANTS... me, "Fun Bunch" Mike D represents the REDSKINS... The Bass Bowl is back in Lunkerville! It's a knock-down, smash mouth battle of division foes!! http://www.rockville.tv/lunkerville/bassbowl2.html
  20. Due to a guest canceling at the last minute, I decided to put up a post on the NYBASS forums asking if anyone wanted to be on Lunkerville. Tim "Magic" Post replied and the next thing you know, he's this week's guest! That's how we roll in Lunkerville! Tim and I fished Lake Champlain out of Ticonderoga. The plan was to work weed edges and weed pockets, but the fish would not cooperate. Tim eventually found a pattern and we ended up catching a bunch of nice largemouth and smallmouth bass on shallow wood. Rich Z also shows up unexpectedly as Tim and I "just happen" to be fishing a spot that Rich showed me the previous day. Uh oh! Someone is in trouble! Enjoy the show http://www.rockville.tv/lunkerville/magic.html
  21. joel!... tell me about it... i've been trying to get ronnie on lunkerville for several years now, it seems... but he's very stubborn.... he only wants to do an early spring "ice out" show... and we always seem to have conflicting schedules at that time... so i'll honor his wishes and will wait till the time is right... "a fine wine takes time"
  22. very nice ryan... congrats!!... bask in the glory
  23. thank you roseangler! jeremy... you're internet connection may be too slow... best thing to do is to wait for it to download for a few minutes, then start viewing... if you still have problems, clear your cache, load the page, and walk away for 5 or 10 minutes, then try to watch. the internet movie is optimized for a high speed internet connection... if you have cable, it should load and play without any delay... with DSL you may have to wait a few minutes... with dial up you'll have to wait quite a while. we're shooting in High Definition now and streaming on the web in a much higher video and audio quality than with previous shows... so if you're able to view previous episodes without delay and are now experiencing some problems, it's normal. thanks
  24. hahaha russ... hey, i'm not afraid to tell the true story! Zen... i love the idea and it's something we'll definitely be doing... if you're interested in being on the show, send me a home video of you catching a fish and we'll go from there. I prefer a digital file on CD or DVD, but a tape is cool also. Lunkerville c/o Rockville Pictures 241 Centre St. 6th floor New York, NY 10013
  25. you asked for it... you got it!! Rich Z is on Lunkerville for 2 shows and you can watch them both now, before they hit WFN in the next few weeks I had a terrific time with Rich fishing Lake Champlain... Yes, he took me to school, but who better to get I disagree kicked by than Rich Z?... The Man! I think you all will really enjoy these shows... watch Rich talk about: fishing creature baits dropshotting fishing submerged bridge abutments backreeling Charlie Brewer breaking into outdoor writing the history of Lake Champlain and his philosophy on life! I've titled these shows "Chico and the Man Parts 1 and 2" because Rich is definitely a fatherly type figure, with tons of wisdom and good advice... and because i felt like a kid out there at times, disappointing my old man...LOL ENJOY!! http://www.lunkervil.../watchshow.html
