  1. Out of the two I would go with the Medium. But if I could pick one from St-Croix it would be a 7'6" ML Legend Elite
  2. I will admit I don't wear one 90% of the time while on my boat fishing, when the weather gets bad or it gets choppy out is when I put one on.
  3. I've never tried one. I know wiper taste pretty d**n good, I prefer trout, salmon and halibut. When I was at work a couple years ago another employ came in, he brought in some smoked fish and d**n it was good, he asked everyone to guess what kind of fish it was....It was carp and it tasted awesome.
  4. I've caught some of my biggest bass while listening to music on my boat. Sometimes I think it attracts them I destoryed the Smallmouth last summer with a crankbait while listening to Metallica. Headbanging at 5am while slaying smallmouth....nothing better
  5. For that price I would take a Cabelas Fish eagle, you will get better graphite and better guides. Favorite fishing brand is IMO a joke.
  6. I love both, catching big fish on light action spinning rods is a blast IMO.
  7. Its not the length of the rod that matters, its how you use it.... ?
  8. My favorite would be Gloomis but I have also been using them for years and years they have never disappointed. But I also own Megabass and St Croix and like them just as much. As for builds Megabass builds the best looking and the wraps, guides and blank are always perfect. St Croix also does an amazing job with their builds. Gloomis has always been a little off here and there, except for my Conquest, its perfect. My dream rod would be a NRX blank sent to the megabass factory to be built
  9. I have the Orochi Whipsnake, is a awesome drop shot rod. But out of the 3 you listed I would take the 842
  10. I would take the St-Croix. I have a Legend Tournament Glass rod and its the best cranking rod I have ever used.
  11. Its 7'6" but its not a noodle, I use it most as a ned rig rod but the action is very nice and it being a light action but feels more between a light action and medium light action the rod is a blast fighting big smallmouth. It also casts ligher weight baits a mile, I put a Daiwa Certate LT on the Flyssa and the balance is almost perfect.
  12. NRX, Conquest and Megabass Destoryer spinning rods and casting rods are my favorite. The 842 blank is probably my favorite blank of all time in spinning and casting, but right now I absolutely love using the Megabass Flyssa spinning rod, its d**n fun to fish with. But there are a ton of good ones out there to choose from Kistler, Phenix, Daiwa and St-Croix are all excellent, I've just been using Gloomis for a long time now and while some of them aren't the nicest looking rods they work amazing, megabass on the other hand are just gorgeous and fish very very well.
  13. I'm 6'4" my shortest rods are my ice fishing rods haha. I actually prefer a longer rod, my shortest rod is 7' up to 7'6" with only one rod being 8' and that is a swimbait rod.
  14. I don't think NRX rods catch more bass, I do believe high end rods are more sensitive and will help with catching more bass though. I use lots of different brands of rods and IMO have never fished anything that is a more sensitive rod then a NRX, it is what all others are compared to. I agree with using spinning rods for light tackle, I do it, but I also use high end spinning rods and love it.
  15. I disagree that a $150 spinning rod will out preform a NRX 2 power.
  16. I have both of those rods. I use the GLX 842 more for jerkbaits, topwater and small lipless cranks. The NRX 852 I use for for small jigs, keitech swing impact fat, I use it most as my Tube rod for smallies. The GLX will cast lighter baits as I feel the tip is softer. When holding them both its hard to feel any difference between weight and balance, but IMO the GLX feels better in hand because of its reel seat, its just plain comfortable. Both will do anything I listed.
  17. I have 3, none of the gears ever went bad, on one of them I could kinda feel the gears (metanium 13) so at the time I just switched them all at once and the brass even makes them smoother.
  18. All I use is 8 carrier braids. Sunline Xplasma and P-line TCB 8 is what I've been using the most. I do have some Seguar smackdown on my Stella and its good. For ice fishing I was using Daiwa J-braid grand 8 because its so soft. I did pick up some of the new super slick 8 V2 that was on sale, so far its been pretty good also.
  19. I have two Curado K reels and they work excellent, if you want to step it up get a Metanium.
  20. Use it until it needs new gears is what I would do. I used Curado K brass main gears in two of my Metaniums.
  21. I use a 842 GLX for that stuff, amazing rod.
  22. I would take the Metanium, but have never tried the Bantam.
