  1. The only bladed jigs I care to throw anymore is Mike's. I always have one tied on and have had some super productive days with them.
  2. I haven’t had any issues with sensitivity with my Dobyns rods. However, all my bottom contact techniques use the HP series and the rest I use the XP series. The main thing that attracted me to Dobyns was their warranty and customer service.
  3. I always rig them with a Moaner Swimbait hook and it works for me. I think the most important thing is making sure you have them rigged perfectly straight.
  4. A DC735 is going to be a pretty stout rod for what you are wanting to use it for. Most people use that rod as a frog rod. I use DX744 rods for jigs and texas rigs and a DX743 for lighter stuff. A DC744 is probably what you are looking for. It would be excellent for jigs, texas rigs and toads. I prefer using my DC734 for moving baits like spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and buzz baits but it works for jigs and texas rigs too. Best advice would be to call or email Dobyns and tell them what you are looking for. They are great at answering questions about their rods and love talking about them.
  5. Wasn’t planning on switching to Sniper FC quite yet, but a 1200 yard spool of 16lb for $80 was too hard to pass up when I realized the “PLAYFUL15” code was still working for ALF.
  6. It is the 24 rod holder. Holds 12 rods with the reels attached since you have to space them out. It is the exact one 78staff linked. Can’t remember the brand, but it doesn’t have any markings on it anyway. One of the reasons I ordered it since I did not want any logos showing on it. The auction site also has some with different color foam.
  7. I picked one of them up last year from Amazon except different name brand. Got mine free with Amazon credit. What I found out while looking online was that specific rod rack seems to go by a lot of different names. Same rack, just rebranded. It is light, but works fine for it’s purpose.
  8. This is what I use as well. Great jig...
  9. What is sensitive to someone else might feel like a dead weight to you. Personally, my jig rod is a Dobyns Extreme DX745. But a buddy has the Champion DC744 and he loves it.
  10. Dobyns responded to me multiple times relatively quickly when I inquired about their rods. Gary and Richard both took the time to explain their rods and their preferred uses in a detailed way that answered all the questions I had. If you need an answer quickly, a phone call is probably your best option. I don’t own any Sierra rods, but have heard they are similar to the Champions and better than the Savvy series they replaced. They should be a bump up from the Fury series for sure.
  11. I normally take Powerade and water with me. If I drink a bottle of Powerade first, I drink a bottle of water next. Powerade is good for rehydration, but it will also make you dehydrate much faster so it is better to alternate it with water. Bananas is an excellent source of potassium and light on your stomach.
  12. Having handled several Burmese Pythons in the 15 foot range, I would say it would be impossible without having someone nearby to help. You would normally need to start unwrapping from the tail and that poor woman was likely ambushed. Most of my friends that worked with large pythons made sure to always have someone nearby in case of emergency when handling these reptiles. I've handled some as small as 13 foot that made me feel a little uneasy just by the sheer amount of muscle and constriction I felt while they were just hanging out on my shoulders.
  13. I can't imagine how terrifying that had to be for the poor woman. As someone that had quite a few pythons and boas at one time, I know all too well about it.
  14. That's crazy and I was a little skeptical at first. Most of these stories end up being fake, but I did a little research and came across the video that goes with this article. Pretty gruesome video and I was surprised it was allowed on YouTube. That's a huge python and it's rare to see them. From what I gathered from the article, it sounds like she might have been out at night since she was carrying a flashlight.
  15. Sorry to hear about this. This happens way too often nowadays and it's very sad.
