  1. For me it really depends on the color of the water but watermelon red magic, watermelon candy red, junebug, junebug w/red flake, red bug, black/blue will cover just about anything. If I had to pick just one.... you guessed it june-bug! Denny
  2. JC we sold our place a couple years ago also and hadn't been up as much lately. Did make it up last week the 19th - 23rd. Pretty much fished mid lake north of bridge and did pretty decent on the bass. The weather was overcast and off and on light rain most of the days. I found a decent pattern fishing shallow wind blown secondary points with cypress trees and grass but it really helped if you found the points with the white birds on them. Biggest was 5.77 and a couple more 4's and several 3's. Best bite was first 3 hours and last 2 hours of daylight. White V&M swim jig w/ white j-bug trailer, lunker hunt compact frog blue gill color and a little deeper off some points with a big ole bone colored one knocker spook. Would have been close to a check Sat. morning had we fished Bass Champs. Me and the family went out with Josh (Bent Rods Guide Service) for crappie on Friday the 21st. In less than ideal conditions he still put us on them and we came back with a box full of slabs. Highly recommend Josh and his crew. First class folks right there. Definitely a fun few days with the family. Looking for another place if yall hear about anything. I miss the big pond so much! Denny
  3. You can go to the Sealy Outdoors website and view past results. I did a quick look at it a few minutes ago. In 2014 there were 137 fish over 6 pounds weighed in for the 3 day tourney and this year 81.
  4. Thanks for the reply Catt. You know sometimes I think I'm overthinking this whole fishing thing and just need to "go fishing" lol. I've been trying to force the deep bite a little to hard I think. Past successful trips have me trying to re-live the past but If they aint there, they aint there. Or sometimes even when they are there and you see them on the electronics you just cant get them fired up. Just been in a little bit of a slump is all. I'll snap out of it sooner or later.
  5. Catt my camp is in the lil cove (Rebel Ridge) just on the corner of Goodloe Bluff where the river makes that hard bend. Pretty much straight across the lake from Cypress Bend. Was on a good deep bite all through the summer but fall and winter has kicked my tail. Last couple years I have been able to stay on them just not this year. Not sure what the deal is. Like i said i have made a few trips south and caught them and a few north and caught them but way, way more trips right here around the camp with very minimal success. I'm stubborn though and keep trying because it's convenient and I really hate trailering when all i gotta do is walk down to the lake shore and get in the boat and go from the camp.
  6. Just wondering if anyone has any decent success at all mid lake lately. I spend most of my time in Lowes, Palo Gaucho, Spring Hill, Slaughter areas as they are the closest to my camp. To say that this area has kicked my butt lately would be an understatement. I can go up north and catch them, I can go down south and catch them but when I try to run similar patterns on what I consider my "home water" areas I cannot duplicate the success. The patterns may be a little different or somewhere in between but I just cant hit on much of anything around the house lately. Is it just me???
  7. Tournament was one day and they had quite a few real good bags brought in.The legend Harold Allen and Matt Loetscher won with 28.74, George Jeane and his partner had secon place with 27.47 and a kicker over 10 pounds, 3rd place was 25.92.
  8. Good analogy but you forgot one Adam. Deer will also move when they are in rut, when its time to breed. Bass will do the same.
  9. Fished mid lake and just never found any big schools. Spent a ton of time idling and graphing but just couldn't find em. Finally just settled down and fished points and would pick up a couple fish on a drop shot on every couple of points I stopped on. Nothing over 3 pounds though. Fish were caught in 15 - 20' for most part. One thing that was pretty cool was I had a group of schooling fish pop up Friday afternoon in Lowes just out of casting range that appeared to be 4 and 5 pound maybe even 6 pound fish. Never seen fish of that caliber schooling like that. By the time I got to em they were gone and never saw them again.
  10. Hadn't been on the lake in a month and a half. Better fishing still out on the main lake? Caught both my biggest bass ever 2nd week in October half way back in creek arm. But it was little cooler that year and we still a few weeks away from that.
  11. At least you finding schools lol. I put the boat in the water at crack of dawn Sunday. First stop was a main lake point where i caught 1 fish about 3 pounds on a c-rig in 15' of water. I then proceeded to move around to several spots that have produced for me in the past just graphing. To sum it up I never took another cast after about that first 30 minutes of fishing. I graphed till about 10:00 and never found a school of fish or any bait fish. Graphing was concentrated in 15 - 25' of water mid lake. They must have been either deeper or shallower is all I can say.
  12. Nice fish Bryan! Nice boat as well!
  13. Just a heads up. Some pretty good deals online at Bass Pro right now including Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier Baitcast Reel for 49.99 which is half price. These reals are a real bargain at that price. Have several mixed in with my higher dollar reels and they perform just about as good as any others I own and better than some Hadn't been in that area lately but I wouldn't hesitate either.
  14. Hey j bab I caught 28 bass Saturday in 4' - 7' of water with a lightweight carolina rigged brushhog in watermelon magic and green pumpkin wacky rigged senko. Secondary points and 61 degree water. No grass in sight. Caught 10 Sunday morning same pattern different area midlake. Maybe this will help ya.
  15. tigerh in my opinion you are putting way to much thought into something that really doesn't matter. You can catch them shallow or deep year round on Toledo. Use your eyes to find the bank and your graph to find what depth the fish are holding at on the days that you decide to fish deep.
