  1. Caught this in my local club tourney wed, she went 4.45. This is a desert smallie, water temps in the mid 70's clashing shad on a main lake point, 4fow dropping quickly to 22'.
  2. new pb went 4.45 caught on a tube @ 930 in the morning. Had been a slow bite, saw some shad skipping and threw my tube in behind them. I thought I hooked a tree when I set the hook and the she jumped and bout had a coronary. Anchored my limit of 8.33 and big bass. Can't wait to break 5lbs now!!!
  3. The tube was on a jig head, internal
  4. Cranking and top water is sloooow right now. Fished a drop shot and tube in 10-20 fow water Wednesday caught a limit for 8.33. Yamamoto shad shapped worm, roboworms, and bass pro tubes in green pumpkin variations worked well. The smallmouth were willing to bite throughout the day but it was a grind. Here is my best fish for the day.
  5. Right no fish are on the main lake. I shore fished with my kids this weekend. Drop shots in 5-10 fow kept them busy. East side of the lake is my pick to start, looking into the first mid 1/3 of the coves. Whit or white belly cranks work well, tons of shad in the lake. Senkos usually fish real well for numbers and good ones. I will fish more on wed and give an update.
  6. Alamogordo use to have one. Look on the New Mexico bass federation website would be a good start. I believe there is a group maybe out of Carlsbad. If not our club is located at the butte and we fish on wednesdays. If interested shoot me a message. Next tourney is this wed.
  7. I bought the dou realis. I've only had one day that I've thrown it, while I only caught whites on it I think it will produce in time. So I would say give that one a try as well and see how you like it
  8. I had a pair of renegade's, save that twenty and buy yourself a pair of costa. I switched over this spring no comparisson costa of course perfect. Since having two kids I went for bargin glasses, will never do that again.
  9. If your interested in a BASS club try looking up something along the lines of the Texas Bass Federation Nation. That should get you close for that. Also try american bass association might find something there.
  10. My baits would be a drop shot, trig of some sort (craw/worm/tube), and mid range cranks (3xd or something along that depth range). Those would be mine but I fish rocky man made lakes out west.
  11. Welcome, I'm from nm as well. Great site here.
  12. Good luck to you guys
  13. So I am in a local club it's great. Our dues are $35 for a year. That helps pay for the rent on our club lodge, and plaques given out for monthly tournaments. Fee for a tourney is $35 (25 for the tourney and 10 for big bass pot). Fished last week took first and big bass out of 13 people fishing, paid back 221. Look around you will find the right one.
  14. I hadn't planned on learning spinnerbaits, but my boater taught me in my last tourney. So that was an unexpected lesson. Things to still pick up are the ned and neko rigs.
  15. Really surprised at how well fider has come on this season. I wouldn't have looked at the guy till they headed north, maybe I'll have to get him next time.
  16. I went with: A. Christie always seems to fish well post spawn B. B Lane always pull for him so typically pick him, specially shallow water C. J Pow guy is way to consistent D. Matt Herren, jig guy likes docks so think he will do ok E. Biffel just hoping for something good here didn't have much faith in anyone in this bucket.
  17. So I have the option to buy some new glasses. I can either get the 580 or 400. I'm glass all the way tired of poly lenses getting scratched. What I need help with is what would you go with the 400 or 580. Also I need input on lense color. I have pretty decent clarity around 5-10' at times so would you go with green or the sunrise or amber. Thanks for the input, feel free to move this if there is a better forum for it.
  18. Don't feel bad last year in late October we were fishing a cold morning in a tourney, as I reached the back of my cast my spoll slipped on my tumb allowing my crank to drop and hook a rod behind me. I didn't catch it till it was to late. I waited till February to mess with it?
  19. Bow and rifle depending on the tags I can draw. Mule deer, couse whitetail, elk, oryx, and Barbary sheep. Used to guide elk hunters as well here in New Mexico, but ended up disliking it so I stopped.
  20. I'm in the 83.7% right now. Had a decent pick at the big o, and had four fish the final day in the classic. I've done less research and gone back my gut like I did when I was in the 98% a couple of years ago.
  21. Another vote here for a sluggo, also a couple other baits I drop shot are a reaper and leech. Might not fit that baitfish group perfect but they work.
  22. Pretty impressive showing by Lee, wished I had put him on my team as well, I had him at gville when Howell took it all. Had four guys fishing today strader being the only one not to fish today, don't know how he managed to blank on day two. Still scratching my head
  23. From my having Ike on my teams in the past he almost always overestimates his weights, drives me nuts
  24. A Tharp B J Pow C Bobby Lane D Ehrler E Strader Hope these guys can do it for me
  25. What helped me learn how to fish that style and have confidence was fish with someone who was proficient at it. My luck I fished with a guy I know is very good at it and who was willing to teach. So if you can find some to help you take advantage other than that the rest of everyone is spot on.
