  1. Ok thanks might pick a couple of these up
  2. @gall just type in the at sign and there name. Going to have to look in to some jigs
  3. Just wondering if anyone has thrown the Rapala bx waking minnow? What time of year and conditions would you throw it in? Wonder if it's applicable to my fishing here thanks
  4. Jacob wheeler
  5. I have had lots of success using the roboworm rebarb hook. Just a question are you running your tag end back through the hook eye? If so my other suggestion is fish it semi slack a slight bow to your line.
  6. I would agree with you on that aspect. Although I'm not using mine to shore fish, I use it while fishing from a boat. That might weigh in on your decision @Rodney Smith
  7. I've had a bps front loader for 5 years now. Starting to break down a bit. Pretty sure it's do to the extreme heat and sun here in the sw. I would buy another one, I carry 7 360s two smaller trays cull tags tools sunscreen line conditioner and dye
  8. Ok was wondering about the differences there. Man thanks again for the input. I'll look into to those other reels here. I'm hoping I can the whole setup through my local shop they deserve the business.
  9. @Angry John not a lefty.. was looking at another tatula as that's what I'm using for throwing these kinda baits so far. I have a 100, what's the difference between them the ct and th ct/100 type r? @kschultz76
  10. @kschultz76 @Angry John@A-Jay Thanks for you input it was exactly what I needed. Nothing else have decided I'm going with the ltb 6'8"Mh. Thanks again now time to go figure a reel to pair it up with.
  11. Usually I wake up five times before my alarm goes off... but this spring I had a tourney the day after I got home from a 14 day assignment. I slept through my alarm and showed up 30 mins after take off, luckily I got a ride with another boater we finished 1st (him) and 3rd that day. Last time I sleep through it though and good luck today!
  12. Will let everyone know what I decide on. Hope to go look at rods this weekend
  13. Winter time crank for me from strike king is the 1.5 flat side. I have done pretty good with that, tight wobble and gets down to about 10ft another small crank I like is from lucky strike the freak.
  14. I have an older 7' rod. I do not feel very coordinated with it trying to pitch. It feels out of balance. I have been using a 6'8" crowder rod currently, but it's a med fast rod and I have had trouble getting good hooksets at times. @Angry John I have been at it awhile but no means a pro. I have spent two years trying to get comfortable with a 7' rod and just never have, switching to the shorter rod improved my accuracy and saw the number of bites I got go up. I attribute that to being able to accurately place my bait where I wanted to... maybe I'm wrong.
  15. I throw them a lot. Smallmouth love to chew on them here. I usually throw them summer to fall though. Haven't really threw them in the winter.
  16. I live in the sw and our water temps will get into the 80's on the surface. I usually catch them on points, humps, and along the main lake shore on the first major drop. Usually in 10-15 fow.
  17. Ok I figured they were. I have an LTB spinning rod and actually like the reel seat. I think my local shop carries them here so I'll see if I can't try one out. Thanks again
  18. Do you happen to know which reel seat it is?
  19. Thanks for the input everyone. Maybe my mechanics and I pretty sure I need to work on these as well. Given how many of you are suggesting the longer rod what are the benefits associated with the longer rod? If there is a major benefit there I might just go with the longer rod. Thanks again really appreciate the input.
  20. I need some input into a new rod. I fish as a back boater 90% of the time. I'm a shorter guy 5'9" and I'm looking for a good rod for fliping and pitching trigs and jigs. The idea of a 7' rod won't work for me just to long and I'm to short. So some options would be nice if you know of any. 300 dollar range would be the max I'm willing to shell out. Thanks Forgot to mention most cover here is salt cedar, mesquite, cottonwood, and some willows. Not sure about line rating but I'm guessing in the 15-20lb test rating.
  21. Welcome hope you find this site as helpful as I have
  22. I agree that it is interesting. My worry is are we headed the same way hunting is quickly going? Elk and deer hunting here in the west is getting more and more competitive every year. Outfitters commonly have people following animals year around and highest paying client gets first crack. And young hunters now measure success by the size of an animal and not that they were successful. I hope fishing doesnt take this turn it doesnt seem likely but when I here pay to play it makes me nervous.
  23. Is it simply the lack of pro tours or an economic decision? Seems like fishing in Cali is pretty expensive..
  24. Not positive about flaming gorge, but Powell has largemouth. Quick internet search shows sand hallow and pelican lakes as well.
  25. Never fished there but have heard its great fishing on par with or better than havasu. Having any luck over there?
