  1. The only rod id drop down in lbs is a medium light, i use 15lb. For my medium rod i use 20 lb, for my medium heavy i use 30lb and for my heavy i use 40 lb
  2. That lews combo would work man, no need to spend more
  3. No sir, keep doing it your way. I am now 100% spinning myself. Broke my flipping/ punching stick and tried out my daiwa saltist 7ft heavy-fast rod. Its perfect and light. One thing i would recomend is to go up in lb test, i use 40 or 50lb power pro for flipping.
  4. Any ebay product i believe. Well at least evrything i bought from different sellers was discounted.
  5. Ill be honest, im a shimano fanboy, the reason i have bought some daiwas is because I have kids and a house to pay and i dont have a lot of money to spend on fishing. My price point for rods and reels is 100 max each. With shimano a decent setup would be around 300, i wouldnt spend that on a combo right now. So i bought a daiwa 2 daiwa bg's for $65 each and 2 airdx rods for $ 45 each and now i have to combos for the price of one. I still believe shimano makes the best reels at a higher price point, its just that i cannot buy at that price point.
  6. They are great rods, in my opinion they are spot on
  7. Whatever you choose, go buy it now at ebay, use code PICKDADSGIFT 20% OFF I ordered 2 daiwa bg 3000 for $129 Impulse buy for my son
  8. Dont get me wrong, its best to learn how to be good at using both. I can use either but prefer spinning because i like to let my lures fall on slack line. I just think some guys are ashamed they even own spinning gear lol its almost like they think its not cool to use spinning gear. Aint nothing wrong with catching bass using any type of reel
  9. Yes you will see a difference, mach2 is a great rod but not very sensative. But i also think if 200 is a big deal you should try a lews tp1, falcon bucoo, dobyns fury, shimano exage or daiwa airdx. All of those are proven rods that are plenty sensative, specially when using braid. If you are set on the alx then i dont think you should be concerned. The knot passes fine through the guides
  10. Why is everyone scared of admitting they use spinning reels and rods? Lol I use spinning for everything exept big swimbaits. I use 7ft heavy rods, ive never had problems getting fish out of cover. I use spinning gear to avoid the pendulum effect.
  11. I had an experience last week that changed the way I look at bass forever. My 3 best friends wanted to join me im my weekly fishing of lake travis. They dont fish and have never fished in their live, and had 0 interest in fishing. They were in it just to drink some beers and have a good time. I knew what i was in for but they are good buddies and i couldnt say no. These stooges show up with a huuuge cooler filled with coorslight and a big party speaker with bluetooth lol. I thought for sure i was gonna get skunked and i wasnt going to enjoy the trip. These guys had a complete party inside the boat, loud music, dancing, talking to ladies in other boats. Long story short, we slayed them, boated about 50 fish. 4 bigger than 5lbs. And each of them caught their first fish and now all they talk about is fishing. And i had a blast It got me thinking, are bass really as smart as we think? Do we overthink a little bit? On topic- rattletraps
  12. 3 rods, and my bag that holds around 4 planos and some plastics. I bring lunch for both of us and I fill up the boat with gas.
  13. I get flamed at local tournaments for plipping and punching with spinning gear. I dont care. Use what you want and what you feel most confident in
  14. Yes, assuming you are using 40lb or larger. But use a little backing or line will slip
  15. The bg is probably best at that budget. But comparing it to the fk is blasphemy. I have both, the fk is way smoother, stronger, has less play, and is lighter. But in your budget id get the bg or a nasci
  16. I own daiwas, shimanos and lews. I love all 3 but i were rich i would only buy daiwas and shimanos
  17. Its business, they cant be living off old parts. Gotta make new reels and sell parts for newer reels so people can buy these new reels. I know some of us might not like it but in every business you gotta make money. Why sell somebody a $5 reel part when you can sell them a $150 reel?
  18. The tourney trail rods are great, you could probably buy 2
  19. Vmc death stick hooks. Best hooks ive ever used for flukes.
  20. Its probably a return someone used
  21. I use braid on every single rod i own. I do not have this problem. At the beginning the color does run a little but its never that bad. Or maybe i never noticed it
  22. I had a 6'6 bucoo spinning rod, it was the most versatile rod ive ever had. It could throw anything from ned rigs to texas rigs. My buddy accidently broke it, rip
  23. I think its been relabeled as transoptic or something like that
  24. I use big game, love it. Yozuri in my opinion is way overrated. The spool i bought had more stretch than mono and broke off randomly.
