  1. I went with a 7ft zodias and a stradic ci4+ 1000. I think ill like it. I have a 7ft medium and 7ft medium heavy zodias already. Thise are my 3 set ups
  2. I always put a ned rig on my 5 year old nephews rod. He aways catches fish. Mostly dinks and blue gills but he loves it
  3. I also have a 12lb yo suri hybrid that breaks everytime. I quit using that line but maybe i also had a bad batch. Im not taking risks
  4. Im going to be purchasing a medium light spinning rod today. The two options are 6'8 or 7ft. Which one would you buy? Ive never had a medium light. I will mostly be throwing really small flukes and senkos, worms. Thanks
  5. Id say fenwick out of those. But i love my shimano crucial. Everyone says *** black in 3...2...1
  6. Fishing deep for me
  7. I use 15lb pp and 12lb sniper leader on all my spinning rigs and i love it. Im also buying a medium light and im gonna be rigging it with 10lb pp and 6lb sniper
  8. You will always lose more fish on the wacky rig. I switched to straight shank hooks and my hook up precentage went up a little
  9. Ive tied my lures to straight braid. The fish did not seem to care. But i rather use a leader in case i get my lure stuck. Its a pain with straight braid
  10. I use sniper 14lb as leader material. I like it better than anything else ive used. I usually make it long enough to reach my reel
  11. Shimano crucial is one of the best rods ive tried. And ive tried omens
  12. Thanks guys ive used medium and medium heavy ros with the same result. I may try to set a little harder. And im gonna try some hooks you guys recommended
  13. This topic has probably been beat to death but i need some hook recomendation for the ol wacky rig. I usually rig it in a 2/0 or 3/0 vmc wacky hook. Ive caught lots of fish but ive also lost tons of fish. Today i lost 3 fish and one of them could of been my personal best. He jumped right before and spit the hook. Any hook recomendations to increase hook ups? Would a straight shank hook work for wacky? Also it seems that no matter how hard i set the hook it wont penetrate through the lips, the barb goes through but does not come out the other side of the fish. I use braid with a flouro leader
  14. But it goes for everybody no matter what race, one of my friends recently kept a 7 pounder. I dont think i can fish with him anymore, always tried to keep my fish too. Back on topic, there might be a bluegill overpopulation that is not good for any pond. Like you said they might be eating the bass hatch
  15. Not trying to get in a race argument either, but here in texas most bucket heads are white country folk. They will keep anything and everything they catch. I know a lot of latinos that only keep catfish. Bass get thrown back out
  16. I agree with you tnt, but most of the time when i fish i take only one rod. I usually have a 14lb sniper leader and i tie my frog to the leader so i wont have to tie another leader if i decide to change lures.and it has never broken off
  17. You dont really need a leader frogs. Unless its for not ripping the hook out of the fishes mouth
  18. Your right, i meant a heavy power rod with a fast or extra fast tip. You could get away with a MH for small jigs
  19. You would be better off with a heavy action rod
  20. Flukes never seem to produce for me, maybe its my technique
  21. Best reels ive had are pflueger president, shimano symetre and sahara. And my stradic fk but thats a whole different animal. Any of those will serve you well
  22. Pline, 832 or regular powerpro will serve you good
  23. Thats what i use leaders for- 1. When your line gets hung up, something has got to give. That braid aint breaking from pulling on it 2. On a hookset there has to be a little stretch so the hook wont rip through the fish
  24. I also fish powerpro 15lb on my spinning reels. I love it, i cant beleive i used to not like braid. I use a 5ft sniper flouro leader in 14lbs. I use it for everything including frogs and have never had a breakoff
