  1. Any thoughts on Abu Garci MGX Extreme?
  2. I guess around 600 total for the combo. Mainly use worms, lizards, etc but Ill probably use a bit of everything
  3. Who carries these kinds of reels in store? Nobody around me has the higher performance reels. Bass pro, academy, ducks..... Nobody For the rod I was thinking about going to St Croix Avid X
  4. Thanks to recommendations from the forum I got a couple of great combos this week that were really my first legitimate mid line reels. Of course now, hardly ever being satisfied, I'm looking to save up for a top notch bait casting reel (300$ + range). It'll probably be months before I pull the trigger, and based on searching the forums I can mostly gather that the higher priced Shimanos would probably get the nod. I'm a pretty firm believer in the belief of you get what you pay for Thanks, and sorry if this has been done to death.
  5. Thanks everyone for all of the advice and recs. Think I'll go with the Curado and Carbonlite since they seem to be popular choices. One of my limiting factors is my BPS gift card, so theres that
  6. I was, I just mean that if I am spending that much on a reel I wouldn't want to spend more than 150 for a rod.
  7. What rod would you recommend with that? If I went with that one I would obviously have to skimp on the rod some. Might be a little overkill, but I don't really have any other hobbies so why not
  8. Hello all, I'm fairly new to serious fishing. Been fishing casually for a while but have gotten really serious as of late. I was hoping to get some good baitcasting reel recommendations. I am considering purchasing both the Johnny Morris Carbonlite and the Shimano Curado 200hg as they both have combo deals on BPS right now. Just curious as to the best real that will last me a good while and be the best all-purpose reel. 350 would be my budget now, and I know there are MANY options in that range. One other I am considering is the Abu Garcia STX. Somewhat concerned with the Curado as it only has the 5 bearings Thanks for any input.
