  1. ER? About two weeks ago i got a tad too agressive on a hookset(wich i now know was stupid,we were very well hydrated
  2. Yes i was aware stripers, hybrid striped, wipers, whites, sunshine(never heard that one..nice.)etc.. are bass, in my area when someone says bass anyone will assume largemouth..all the hybrid names are referred to that.. i can see how you may have thought i wasnt aware and that was my fault. You may have assumed i was touting ugly stiks as sensitive rods and i was not, i was trying to say that for his budget a ugly stik with braid will give you alot more feel and is a good deal for what he wanted all ugly stiks are not 100% fiberglass and unlike when i was using them compared to now theres a bunch of different models and all are not whippy crankbait rods.. hope that clears up what i was trying to say.. and thanks for clarifying what you meant, well taken..
  3. Falcon rods yes, didnt know boocu were made by them...calling number now!
  4. Pretty sure its black and has a eva butt with a cork cap on it..??
  5. Whats retail on them? Ive seen one on CL for weeks and they want 20 bucks for it? I figured theyre cheap rods cuz ive never heard of them..
  6. Could be a spring/fall pond.. i fish a few that get so choked with vegitation you could drive a truck across them lol! And thats the only time its fishable but there is some big fish in them, nobody fishes them, i assume people round here think theyre like that yr round but i dont relly care i just know when i go theres a 99% chance its all mine
  7. Ive heard that from several people but the three i had all broke reeling in fish under 5lbs and berkley did nothing for me... just sayin..
  8. X2 huge gills and crappies r an indicator to me..there arent too many bodys of water that have huge fish of several species, there has to be almost perfect enviroments for many to thrive and nature dont let that happen often and even if someone does everything possible to create one dont guarantee sucsess..do what the poster i X2'd, that would be the easiest way you may get results from...and id get them carp outta there too...the eat alot and tear up vegutation...
  9. I beleive you may have answered your own question...
  10. By spinnerbaits i assume you mean bass and not stripers? If so im aware of the importance of a good rod in that regard... you can feel almost anything with braid regardless of the rod 95% of the time, at least for me.. Ugly stiks were some of the first rods i started with and they were prob more sensitive than you would think, i bet the new ones r even better. I still use a couple for channel cats and there is not a better rod out there for them imo..
  11. Cool little lake game and parks built...
  12. Cool man thanks for the info...i beleive the gen 1's reelfoot #'s start at 1700, the 2's 1800 but may be wrong...
  13. Id be interested to hear something on these reels, i have two laguna rods and for their price i really like them..
  14. I was always told you learn something new everyday and its held true for me, them old timers were/are very wise grasshopper...
  15. Ahhhh..i see.. well that makes sense. None of the 5 lakes i fish most are deeper than about 30 ft and theirs no strippers i mean stripers either.. im sold ☺
  16. Let go your feelings luke, feel the power of the darkside!! Ha ha ha If im way off enlighten me please...or have this speed fellow educate me, thats what were all here for no?
  17. These "other brands" you speak of catch as many fish as rapalas etc... all baits are very good on certain days, conditions etc..its just a matter of throwing them and catching a fish or two on them then boom you have confidence in them, hence youll use them more and catch more fish on them..theres a few colors/style/ type lures i have and have never been able to get a bite on and they just sit and never get used until i take only that and head out and am forced to fish it and catch fish with it..that doesent happen often because i have plenty of baits i know will catch fish and am too stubborn to try the ones i dont like.. 100 bucks iwould get a few cranks you like, some jigs and spinnerbaits and call it good..youll be able to get about 15 good lures,jigs,cranks...
  18. How deep is this deep part? If hlaf of its less than 2 ft and its only an acre it cant be very deep, it could but i doubt it..i see this pond also is frozen 6 months out of the year??
  19. Never considered it a slur, referring to them as "tojos" is offensive id think but not "jap" and yep lots of old boys earned the right to call anybody anything they please but i just dont associate any ill feelings about calling them ****, thats just how i refer to them good or bad.. to me its like calling swedish people swedes or british chaps brits..but to each their own i guess
  20. Yep thats what they have alwYs been called as far as i know.. what else do you call them? Japanese? Same difference to me. i'll just say it, i dont say "jap" to be derogitory or to insult anyone but thats what my grandparents and parents called them, just like most have referred to japanese as ****..ok i said it, didnt want anybody getting the wrong idea... if that offended you i guess all i can say is i meant no disrespect to you or any japanese people☺...
  21. Are they jumping or actually blowing up? The times ive seen carp feeding on top they have been calm and dont make alot of surface disturbance, bass will make it look like small bombs are imploding on the surface sometimes.. i bet theyre bass..
  22. Ive never been able to or wasnt aware the lews knobs come off the handles, all my lews but one i havent checked looks lime the knobs dont come off, theres no little screws under the end caps lime on abu's revos, max and other series..wish they would, not a fan of the paddles either..

  24. Im with the guy that said go with dual brakes, i didnt learn with one but can tell you as a beginner you will have less frustration and learn faster with dual brakes.. with most reel brands you get what you pay for in most cases but if i had to suggest a reel or a brand you can not go wrong with abu's or lews..thats what i own most of and both have multiple price ranges and lots of choices and for the money (say under 100 bucks or a lil over) you will get the best bang for your buck imo...all mine work flawlessly..
