Was wondering how “stealth” one needs to be when flipping. I’m newer to flipping and I don’t have the finesse that it takes to flip a jig or creature with out making a splash. I know people will say practice your flipping. So I will. But in the meantime I was just wondering if I’m wasting my time trying to flip for bass if I’m making a large splash or flipping it into the fish to aggressively? Will this spook them off? Will they still bite it? Or am I just scaring all the fish away...? thanks!

Ya I mean I guess sometimes I just question myself for when the bass are “inactive” or just not in the area I have been fishing.. so if I move along and I haven’t been bit in a while I switch to senko and arrive at a new area, maybe should’ve stuck with a jig... personally i have fished jigs and creatures and like most people say, I have caught better size bass.. with senkos I feel you can maybe catch more but not always bigger sizes. I guess my issue is I’m not too familiar with jig fishing and in general find it a long and slow process to pick apart cover.. but I have deticated more of my time to learning it but sometimes question myself if a senko would be a better option...

Really... Is that because you don’t have good success with it or find that other work better..?

Was just wondering.. When and why would one choose a slower styled bait like a senko over a creature Texas rig or jig? I general like to throw creature baits but I used to slay bass off of a senko years ago but have slowly been throwing it less... is there a rule of thumb for when one would choose a senko before a creature Texas rig or jig or visa versa? thanks

It’s a big river system in montreal Canada. There is another section of the river that has clear water so I’ll be trying to learn drop shot there first. But I mostly find the smallies in the muddy water. It’s pretty d**n dirty about 6 inches to 1 foot visibility. There’s some great structure besides the flats I wanna try. There’s also the channel about 30-40 feet. There’s humps and sattles off the channel with about 20 feet deep. I’m certain that’s where my bass are heading once off the flats! i just wanted to know in advance if I should bother trying to catch them that deep when the water is muddy. hopefully I can find them in the clear water to learn. But if I can graph them in the muddy water I definitely think there’s more numbers of fish there... the clear water doesnt have as much structure other other than the channel... i feel like running chatter and spinnerbaits in 30 feet is something that might be tough... but I guess I’ll give that a shot as well!

Hey guys, My local fishery has some muddy/murky water. I’ve done well catching swallies in the spring- catching them on rocky flats and boulders near vegetation. I can catch em good on search baits such as cranks-chatter-spinner baits and tubes in 6-10 foot. However once summer comes along the fish are gone from the shallow flats and I have a hard time catching. I’ve never drop shot before but would love to try and learn this technique for this up coming summer. My fishery has depths up to 35-40 feet, I imagine trying to catch em that deep would be on drop shot, however I’m not sure how well it’ll work in muddy water? Seeing as how it’s a very small and finess type presentation, would it not be ideal in dirty water? Any tips and insight would be great, also general drop shot tips would be great. I have a Garmin with the works (side sonar etc..., so finding structure will be easy) should I look for bait balls? Boulders? Will it be worth it in dirty water? Thanks!

Is there any rods out there with a short handle for pitchin'? I'm looking to get a new rod and I find when pitchin sometimes the longer handle rods gets in the way.. Also what's a good length?? Budget is approx. 100$

I’ve heard it’s bad to lube the bearings no?? ive cleaned them a bit but I’m not a big fan of taking them apart. I’m bringing them in... the Helios spool nob is definitely not normal being that loose tho, hope to find a fix, thoufht it would be from the bearings maybe

Would vibrations and a grinding feeling in a baitcast mean it’s time for new bearings? Something else? What can I do to make older reels feel new and smooth again? thanks

Right on, seems as tho it’s not worth the price to upgrade bearings. I have no problems casting with these reels and I’m happy with the distance. Mind you I have issues with the Helios’ spool tension nob. -it goes from extremely tight to super loose. If I tighten it perfect it can actually loosen in a cast and cause backlashes. Is that do to the bearing or would could be that the spool tension “bolt” is stripped? Also the Helios is “grinding” pretty badly, it doesn’t feel smooth whatso ever. Is that a bearing issue or could it be something else? thanks

Gonna get my reels tuned for the upcoming season. Was wondering if maybe I should upgrade the bearings in some of my lower end reels to give them an edge (revo sx, helios, citica 209g6) I honestly find all those reels cast pretty decent. Will upgrading the bearings make a huge difference? What am I going to gain? distance? smoothness? theyre pretty expensive so I don’t really wanna waste money upgrading unless the performance blows me out of the water. Thoughts? oh and also, does it change the sound of the reel? Curious to know what they sound like. cheers

Does bottom structure matter at all then or should I just give all my focus to finding the bait fish balls? Like in the spring finding the gravel/rocky/boulders is where are the smallies seem to be. As for looking at where to start on the map, I’m guessing hit all the main lake points and humps to locate the bait fish? are bass usually on bottom or suspended? Also does water clarity matter for fishing deep? There’s some really clear water and really muddy water where I go out. Would fishing in 15 feet plus dirty water just be more difficult?
