  1. When I fish alone I usually catch a 10lb'r....... ? I have no preference as long as I am on the water. I enjoy fishing with a friend to chat and learn since I am a new boater.
  2. Finally getting back from my trip to NY and knocking the dust off the boat and fishing tackle. I had some plans with family that kept me from getting on the water as much as I would have liked, but like @ww2farmer said I was able to put a hurting on them the one afternoon I was on the lake. Although I didn't have quite as an epic day as he did, I had a personal best day on the lake in number of large fish. I was able to put in the boat well over 10 fish all weighing over well over the 4/5lb mark with 2 that were absolute slobs pushing in the 6s. I can't verify 100% of the weights because someone.... forgot to put batteries in his scale after its winter slumber, but I have caught enough to get an idea of where they are sitting weight wise. Even more impressive I was fishing with my twin boys on the boat at the same time, so they are slinging spinner baits every which direction they could while learning to use a bait caster. I think my biggest accomplishment was getting both of my son's a bass over the 4/5lb mark. I set a goal for myself this year to get each of my boys a large bass and I was able to accomplish that on the first trip out. Only my wife wasn't able to fish since we didn't get her license in time for this outing. A couple pics of my boys with their fish - edited for privacy........ ? Also nice to run into a fellow BR member on the way in and exchange fishing info on his way out and chat a bit.
  3. Great fish!! Congrats on a true stud. I think you found KVDs honey hole!
  4. So over the winter I have watched what seems like 2000 hours of fishing shows on tv and youtube. My smallmouth experience is very limited, having caught my first ever last summer. But dumb question, do smallmouth get "paralyzed" when you scoop them from their underbelly's? Seems that a lot of pro anglers will scoop them up out of the water and they seem to just hang out for the ride?
  5. They make transducer mounting plates that you can use to cover existing holes and allows to remount a new one with a different pattern. Bass pro, Rig Rite, Stern Saver to name a few. They are pretty cheap and create a neat appearance imo.
  6. I have had the same interstate going on its 3rd trouble free season. Runs strong with all day use. (Hopefully me posting this doesn't jinx me)
  7. Cool deal! I am coming up in a couple weeks, still undecided if I am going to drag the boat up or not. I might, depending on the weather, it SHOULD put that water temperature right in the sweet spot by then.
  8. Is Silver ice free?
  9. For the price, I picked up the 8' flippin rod. I look forward to it.
  10. I use wood shims hammered in from the backside; works like a charm.
  11. I am mostly C&R, however there are certain times I go out and keep a few to throw in the fryer for sure. Love me some pike and LMB in the fryer.
  12. Man that is crazy! I am coming up in early May (6th - 13th), hopefully I hit it right.
  13. Same here, these are my summer boots for anytime I am in the woods, doing yard work, fishing banks, etc. The express-cool liner really works.
  14. I wonder if he tied one on.... Big congrats to him, I am a big fan.
  15. Not really fishing tackle but something for the boat. Saw this rebate/sale for a 2 bank charger in the Tracker Heritage thread and couldn't pass it up. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Minn-Kota-On-Board-Battery-Charger-Rebate-Opportunity/16408589
  16. That is a stud of a CP! Congrats!
  17. I live halfway between the Upper Chesapeake and the Potomac River, both are about an hour or less; although getting to the Potomac can be a nightmare driving down past DC. But I spend a lot of time fishing at my place up in NY as well; I take the boat up there as often as I can. That is about a 5-6 hour drive.
  18. I barely get my socks to match, let along my boat and truck!
  19. Kevin Van Dam fishes a Nitro........ **sits back and waits for comments**
  20. Well I did say almost... LOL!
  21. Almost time to wake those sleepy boats and get this thread back on track!!
  22. You just missed the sale for the PQ2. I have the original PQ and love that reel. Was walking around BP during the fishing sale and was going to pick another up for $79, then the guy told me the combos were on sale for $99. Couldn't pass up the deal.
  23. Yeah that would def be a bad idea. But hey I am sure you could find plenty of fishing buddies willing to haul you in exchange for a day on the water until you can get a vehicle to tow with.
  24. There are a few teaser pics on FB and ***. Seems interesting, they definitely put a team together of experts that is for sure. From what I see they have a ways to go until they hit full production, they are still building out the factory in WV. Don't think you have to be a member to see the pictures: https://www.facebook.com/vexusboats/
