  1. I don't completely understand, please bear with me. I'm going to head out of South Bay RV boat ramp and head northwest on the rim canal until I run into pelican bay then head left/west to Clewiston. Should there be a canal that heads to Clewiston or what? Sorry I just want to be informed before I head out there.
  2. I don't understand when you say stay in the canal from pelican bay to clewiston lock. Is there a chanle out there with markers? Could you please explain more, I've never been out that way.
  3. Thanks to the info, if I didn't post I would probably just go hauling through Boy Scout without paying attention. My plan is to head to pelican bay fish there heading to South Bay and fish all along. Depending on how that goes I might just head to the rim canal and just fish those little cuts on the side. I won't go in hem with the big motor, I will use the trolling motor. Also any tips going to pelican bay heading to South Bay, I have never been out there
  4. What about Boy Scout cut?
  5. Hey guys, I'm headed up to lake okeechobee this weekend. I will be fishing out of South Bay rv boat ramp and will be camping there both Saturday and Sunday. Haven't been there in quite some time, been so busy. How's the fishing? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance and tight lines everyone.
  6. A mercury 50 or 150? I had a 2001 Stratos 183 with 150 Evinrude Fict. Was the worst motor EVER. I've never had problems with the Mercs, just make sure you do a compression check. The boat was ok but transom cracked. I had 2 talons. I think this is what caused the crack. Just make sure good compression, solid transom, and no soft spots.
  7. Check out wootungsten.com pm me and I can give you a discount
  8. Just build over it then make a hatch that you can access the live well.
  9. I would rip the seats out and build a wood frame from 2x4 then place a piece of ply wood on top. Carpet it and you could even make a hatch for storage.
  10. I saw one bass on a bed, it was an absolute giant. At least 7 pounds, I'm thinking more in the eights. There was two (male and female). The male was about a 6. I tried catching them for about an hour, they were not interested at all. It was hard because it was under a bridge and was hard to hold position (wish I had some power poles). Hopefully I get out there soon and can get them.
  11. I was out in the Everglades off the alley, Saturday we put a smack down, tons of fishing just not quantity fish. Sunday was the complete opposite, only couple of fish, and were small.
  12. Thanks for all the info. I really hope heading out there soon, just have to convince pops.
  13. I heard so many great things about holey land and want to give it a try. I told my dad but he is lirry about it being out in the boonies and someone could come and steal the trailer or stuff in the truck. I've seen on the map a check station, what is this? Any thing happen out there? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Also any recommendations were to hed when out there?
  14. I would just go with a new unit, better quality and don't have to worry about anything being wrong
  15. Also close friends and family if you can store it at there house. You will have to put a tarp over it.
  16. It's a great place with great people. You will catch plenty of fish and depending on the weather you can catch a absolute toad. You will have tons of fun. This lake is different than any other in the world. Also please let me know what they do and how good you do. Good luck
  17. Here's a pic of one online
  18. I would highly recommend to test compression, it is a must. Most likely it will be fine but if it's not, you will have to rebuild the power head. Not fun for you or your wallet. Also major things to check is transom, soft spots on deck and I always like to search the boat and motor on google to see if anyone has problems with something about the boat. Good luck tomorrow and hope everything turns out good.
  19. Greetings from another local south Floridian, I'm located in margate. Welcome to the fourm.
  20. If you can okeechobee is a great place. God bless
  21. I cant, it's a old custom boat with no access to the back
  22. Plenty of water but was lower than 2 weeks ago, probably only a couple of inches lower. Also the wind is terrible in the afternoon, you will probably want some sort of shallow water anchor to hold you down.
